The purpose of this study was to suggest a systematic and scientific method for measurement of children's growth development, in which the accuracy of existing diagnosis method has not been concretely examined yet. The most popular method for diagnosis of children's growth is to analyze the opening degree of growth plate in each joint by X-ray image. However, X-ray method has some disadvantages; it is impossible to measure the diagnosis of growth periodically and repeatedly due to the radiation problem. Hence, this study introduced a profile analysis and the algorithm of analyzing the image of growth plate with the BUA(Broadband Ultrasound Attenuation) of calcaneus, to verify the possibility of alternative ultrasonic method harmless to human body. We obtained the images of growth plate in proximal tibiae, phalanges, and calcanei of 269 children (7∼16 years old) with X-ray. And the image of growth plate in calcanei was also obtained front those children with ultrasound. The results showed that the time of the opening degree of growth plate in each joint was almost consistent between X-ray and ultrasonic images. Also, the images of growth plate measured by X-ray and ultrasound showed the high correlation. Therefore, it is expected that the algorithm of ultrasonic profile analysis introduced in this study can replace the existing X-ray method to measure the growth plate correctly.
The aim of this study is to develop a new software tool for 3D dose verification using $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel dosimeter. The tool included following functions: importing 3D doses from treatment planning systems (TPS), importing 3D optical density (OD), converting ODs to doses, 3D registration between two volumetric data by translational and rotational transformations, and evaluation with 3D gamma index. To acquire correlation between ODs and doses, CT images of a $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel with cylindrical shape was acquired, and a volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plan was designed to give radiation doses from 1 Gy to 6 Gy to six disk-shaped virtual targets along z-axis. After the VMAT plan was delivered to the targets, 3D OD data were reconstructed from 512 projection data from $Vista^{TM}$ optical CT scanner (Modus Medical Devices Inc, Canada) per every 2 hours after irradiation. A curve for converting ODs to doses was derived by comparing TPS dose profile to OD profile along z-axis, and the 3D OD data were converted to the absorbed doses using the curve. Supra-linearity was observed between doses and ODs, and the ODs were decayed about 60% per 24 hours depending on their magnitudes. Measured doses from the $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel were well agreed with the TPS doses at central region, but large under-doses were observed at peripheral region at the cylindrical geometry. Gamma passing rate for 3D doses was 70.36% under the gamma criteria of 3% of dose difference and 3 mm of distance to agreement. The low passing rate was resulted from the mismatching of the refractive index between the PRESAGE gel and oil bath in the optical CT scanner. In conclusion, the developed software was useful for 3D dose verification from PRESAGE gel dosimetry, but further improvement of the Gel dosimetry system were required.
This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of the collapsed cone convolution (CCC) algorithm for dose calculation in a treatment planning system (TPS), CorePLAN$^{TM}$. We implemented beam models for various setup conditions in TPS and calculated radiation dose using CCC algorithm for 6 MV and 15 MV photon beam in $50{\times}50{\times}50cm^3$ water phantom. Field sizes were $4{\times}4cm^2$, $6{\times}6cm^2$, $10{\times}10cm^2$, $20{\times}20cm^2$, $30{\times}30cm^2$ and $40{\times}40cm^2$ and each case was classified as open beam cases and wedged beam cases, respectively. Generated beam models were evaluated by comparing calculated data and measured data of percent depth dose (PDD) and lateral profile. As a result, PDD showed good agreement within approximately 2% in open beam cases and 3% in wedged beam cases except for build-up region and lateral profile also correspond within approximately 1% in field and 4% in penumbra region. On the other hand, the discrepancies were found approximately 4% in wedged beam cases. This study has demonstrated the accuracy of beam model-based CCC algorithm in CorePLAN$^{TM}$ and the most of results from this study were acceptable according to international standards. Although, the area with large dose difference shown in this study was not significant region in clinical field, the result of our study would open the possibility to apply CorePLAN$^{TM}$ into clinical field.

The purpose of this study was to identify latent classes in school readiness which were measured by both parents and teachers, and to test the relationship with school adaption, academic abilities, problematic behaviors, self-esteem, and happiness. Latent Profile Analysis (LPA), MANOVA, and one-way ANOVA were conducted using the data of 1,154 1st to 3rd grade elementary school students, and the data was collected between the 7th year (2014) to the 10th year (2017) from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Study. The results of study were as follows. First, four school readiness groups were identified: the consistent low group, parent perceived high group, the teacher perceived high group, the consistent high group. Second, the consistent high group and the teacher perceived high group showed relatively better academic abilities and school adaption than the consistent low group. Furthermore, the consistent high group showed higher academic abilities, self-esteem, and happiness, but lower problematic behaviors than the consistent low group. The findings of this study could be utilized as preliminary data for understanding school readiness to promote successful school adaption and psychological well-being of children.
The purpose of this study is to develop the basic algorithm for the finite element method modeling of individual malocclusions. Usually, a great deal of time is spent in preprocessing. To reduce the time required, we developed a standardized procedure for measuring the position of each tooth and a program to automatically preprocess. The following procedures were carried to complete this study. 1. Twenty-eight teeth morphologies were constructed three-dimensionally for the finite element analysis and saved as separate files. 2. Standard brackets were attached so that the FA points coincide with the center of the brackets. 3. The study model of a patient was made. 4. Using the study model, the crown inclination, angulation, and the vertical distance from the tip of a tooth was measured by using specially designed tools. 5. The arch form was determined from a picture of the model with an image processing technique. 6. The measured data were input as a rotational matrix. 7. The program provides an output file containing the necessary information about the three-dimensional position of teeth, which is applicable to several finite element programs commonly used. The program for a basic algorithm was made with Turbo-C and the subsequent outfile was applied to ANSYS. This standardized model measuring procedure and the program reduce the time required, especially for preprocessing and can be applied to other malocclusions easily.

Recently Usage statistics are widely available from online content providers. However. the statistics are not yet available in a consistent data container and the administrative cost of individual provider-by-provider downloads is high. The Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) is developing an automated request and response protocol for moving Project COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources) Code of Practice usage statistics from providers to library electronic repositories. SUSHI will help libraries make better decisions by reducing the administrative overhead of using Project COUNTER statistics. Publishers in the recording and exchange of usage statistics for electronic resources, initially journals and databases. By following COUNTER's Code of Practice, vendors can provide library customers with Excel or CSV (comma delimited) files of usage data using COUNTER's standardized formats and data elements. The result is a consistent, credible, and compatible set of usage data from multiple content providers. On this study, We propose the acquisition model of usage data based on SUSHI for KESLI that is overseas electronic journal consortium in korea.
Hitherto, spatial resolution has commonly been evaluated by test patterns or phantoms built on some specific distances (from close to far) between two objects (or double targets). This evaluation method's shortcoming is that resolution is restricted to target distances of phantoms made for test. Therefore, in order to solve the problem, this study proposes and verifies a new method to efficiently test spatial resolution with a single target. For the research I used PSF and JND to propose an idea to measure spatial resolution. After that, I made experiments by commonly used phantoms to verify my new evaluation hypothesis inferred from the above method. To analyse the hypothesis, I used LabVIEW program and got a line pixel from digital image. The result was identical to my spatial-resolution hypothesis inferred from a single target. The findings of the experiment proves only a single target can be enough to relatively evaluate spatial resolution on a digital image. In other words, the limit of the traditional spatial-resolution evaluation method, based on double targets, can be overcome by my new evaluation one using a single target.
This research detects the features of the bright band (BB) through analysis of the vertical profile of range height indicator (RHI) and the slant range beam profile of plane position indicator (PPI) of the polarimetric radar measurements-horizontal reflectivity (ZH), differential reflectivity (ZDR), and cross-correlation coefficient (ρHV). As a result of the analysis, it is possible to clearly detect the bright band using the polarimetric radar measurements, and it is confirmed that the result is consistent by double searching for the BB using the RHI and PPI scan data at the same time. Based on these results, the accuracy of QPE (quantification of precipitation estimation) can be improved by applying the BB search method by the PPI slant range in this research to large rainfall radars that only scan PPI volumes in the field without RHI observations.

Suppression of sloshing is essential to achieve fast transportation and stable maneuvering of tanks partially filled with liquid. In this study, numerical simulations are performed to investigate the effects of the acceleration magnitude and the acceleration duration of triangular velocity profiles on sloshing when a rectangular tank moves horizontally. We previously reported, based on only the first natural mode, that sloshing is significantly suppressed when the acceleration duration equals the first natural period of sloshing. On the other hand, the present CFD simulations find the best acceleration duration for minimum sloshing and explains the results considering higher modes as well as the first mode. We also perform the analysis using an equivalent model based on masses and springs, and evaluate its accuracy by comparing it with the CFD simulation results.

In this study, study on the internal ballistic analysis method for single-chamber dual-thrust rocket motors meeting a dual-thrust profile requirement by tailoring the grain burning area is presented. The analysis method, which can acquire variables required for the performance prediction, considering gradual change of burning rate correction factor and specific impulse in the transition phase, is proposed. Improvements compared to the analysis method in the previous study, which do not consider change in the transition phase, are verified through comparison between the newly proposed method and the method in the previous study. Internal ballistic variables are obtained for four different ground firing test conditions using the proposed method, and the performance prediction for each condition is conducted using these variables. These prediction results and the ground test data are in good agreement, so it is confirmed that the performance prediction of dual-thrust motors with same design geometries based on the proposed analysis method is available.
