농형유도 풍력발전시스템을 위한 유.무효전력보상장치 (Active and Reactive Power Compensator for Wind Power System with Squirrel-Cage Induction Generator)

  • A wind power system with squirrel-cage induction generator has irregular change of output power according to the sudden change of wind speed. This paper describes the development of a active and reactive power compensator, which is composed of a 3-phase inverter and a bidirectional DC/DC converter with super-capacitor. The operational characteristic was analyzed through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC and experimental works with a scaled model. The developed system can continuously compensate the active power change with energy storage and the reactive power change with 3-phase inverter.

  • Blade pitch control system monitors and adjusts angle of the blades and controls rotation speed of blades. This paper shows 2MW pitch system hardware and electric part. Blade pitch system consists of pitch drive, gear box, motor and energy storage. Fieldbus is base on CANopen protocol. Fail-Safe system moves the blades to a safety position in case of any fault condition. The super capacitor energy storage provides emergency back up to the Pitch servo driver during feathering the blades. This paper studied Blade pitch servo driver and a bi-directional DC-DC converter for fail-safe system.

  • According to the climatic characteristics of the wind power output is difficult to predict and a severe strain due to a change in output has been very influential in the grid. Jeju Hangwon wind farm, many of the wind generator is installed in a wide area because it is not have this device that artificially Smoothing is needed. In addition, By the requirements of the power company active power supply / control and improve power system reliability and energy storage during the peak demand for electricity using the energy stored in the power supply is needed. In this paper, Unit 12 in Jeju Hangwon demonstrated 0.5MW PCS and energy storage system associated with the wind through the stabilization of output and the leveling of output and test results will be introduced.

  • This paper proposes the variable wind generation system based on the direct torque control(DTC)for the interior permanent magnet synchronous generator. The proposed system can achieve the MPPT control without wind speed in addition to the speed and position sensorless control as well as the conventional current control method. The DTC has several advantages such as simply system configuration, ease of the flux weakening control and the sensorless control. The experimental results show the performance of the proposed wind generation system.

  • This paper describes the operation mode development for the grid-tied PMSG(permanent magnet synchronous generator) wind power system combined with a battery energy storage. The development of operation modes was carried out through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software and experiments with a 10kW hardware prototype. The detailed simulation models for PMSG wind power system and battery energy storage were developed using user-defined models programed with C-code. A 10kW hardware simulator was built and tested in connection with the local load and the utility power. The simulation and experimental results confirm that the grid-tied PMSG wind power system combined with battery energy storage can supply highly reliable power to the local load in various operation modes.

  • Wind power and photovoltaic(PV) generation systems are the fastest growing sources of renewable energy. The nonlinear devices, such as power electronic converter or inverter, of wind power and PV generation systems are the source of harmonics in power systems. The harmonic-related problems can have significant detrimental effects in the power system, such as capacitor heating, data communication interference, rotating equipment heating, transformer heating, relay misoperation and switchgear failure. There is a greater need for harmonic analysis that can properly maintain the power quality. By measuring harmonics of existing wind power and PV generation systems as harmonics modeling, the studies were made to see the harmonic impact of grid-connected wind power and PV generation systems.

  • The exploitation of the resource wind energy is a rapidly growing area world-wide. The number of installed units is continuously increasing, and therefore, it is important to respect and to deal with the impact of wind power generation system. From the view of an electric grid utility, there is a major problem with the impact of the wind system on the voltage of the electric grid, to which a turbine in connected. The problem is rather common in the connection of a wind power system to an already existing grid, since the grid is very seldom designed for the transmission of additional power. In this paper, it is investigated the voltage impact of distribution line, to which wind power generation system is connected.

  • This paper deals with the dynamic analysis of doubly-fed induction generators for wind power system. The 3-phase voltage equations for stator and rotor of doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) are derived and then, the equivalent circuit and mechanical output power of induction generators are obtained by converting the 3-phase voltage into do voltage equation. Finally, the dynamic characteristics such as torque, speed and voltage for rotor of DFIG are presented, for the case when wind is considered.

  • In this paper, a model that can be used to represent all types of variable speed wind turbines in power system simulations is presented. Wind turbine characteristic equation of a wind turbine is implemented in the RTDS, and the real data of weather conditions are interfaced to the RTDS for the purpose of real time simulation of grid-connection wind power system. The outcomes of the simulation demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed simulation scheme in this paper. The results show that the cost effective verifying for the efficiency and stability of WPGS.

  • This paper describes development of hardware simulator for the PMSG(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator) wind power system, which was designed using real wind data. The simulator consists of a realistic wind turbine model using anemometer, vector drive, induction motor. The turbine simulator generates torque and speed signals for a specific wind turbine with respect to given wind speed. This torque and speed signals are scaled down to fit the input of 3kW PMSG. The PMSG-side converter operates to track the maximum power point and the grid-side inverter controls the active and reactive power supplied to the grid. The operational feasibility was first verified by computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC. The feasibility of real system implementation was confirmed through experimental works with a hardware set-up.
