A new design method for multi-functional pull-down menu based on stacking rules is proposed. The importance of a design point of view has been emphasized in many previous studies on web navigation. Taking technical aspects with an emphasis on programming techniques into consideration in this paper, multiple elements, which are used for constructing main menu of the pull-down menu, are capable of performing their unique functions independently in addition to basic classification function by disposing them to separated layers using stacking rules. Furthermore, the improvement of visual effects and efficiency for information navigation can be expected by implementing submenu selection-bar using animation techniques and function to automatically search submenu item. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is identified by implementing multi-functional pull-down menu using CSS and jQuery.

As obtaining information via the Internet has increased recently, the importance of web-based user interface more than ever is being emphasized. The purpose of this study is to improve the sliding structures of submenu in pull-down menu for improving web user interface. Animation techniques applied to the submenu of the pull-down menus that are being used at many web sites have very monotonous sliding structures. In order to solve these problems, a new sliding algorithm based on enlarging/reducing and moving animation techniques with direction control in pull-down menu is proposed. As a result, the proposed method can not only improve visual effects significantly but be also easily applied to the implementation of the web-based user interface in comparison with the previous pull-down menus. Finally, experiments on application of the proposed sliding algorithm to responsive image slider show that the proposed method can achieve good results. Further studies taking into account performance are needed to implement web-based interactive contents using the proposed method.

Menu is the most common interaction tool to select and execute a specific menu item from multiple menu options. With the very rapid increasing amount of information, various new menu designs have been developed. In this research, the pull-down menu, fisheye menu and grid menu were tested to compare the performance time, error rate, simplicity, usefulness, user friendliness, and overall user preference of each menu type. The grid menu was more efficient in selection speed than the pull-down and fisheye menus when the number of menu-items was 50 and 100. The time needed to choose a menu-item with a grid menu was less affected by the size of menu. The pull-down and the grid menus were considered to be more satisfactory, simple, user friendly, and useful than the fisheye menu. 42.3 percent of subjects indicated that the grid menu was their preferred selection tool among the menus. The grid menu is an efficient and robust alternative menu choice for small and middle size menu list. Further study is required to examine the possibility of grid menu on mobile devices.

본 논문은 유류관리 문서를 수작업으로 행하던 것을 데이터베이스 시스템을 이용하여 최적화된 전산 작업 환경을 사용자에게 제공하는 유류 통합 관리 시스템이다. 이 시스템은 수작업으로 하던 업무를 개선, 전산환경에서의 유류 관리프로그램을 이용하여 효율적인 업무 처리를 지원하며, 인력비용 감소와 오류수정을 가능하게 한다. 그리고 체계적인 거래처관리와 다양한 입/출고 관리 등의 기능을 제공해준다. 아울러 모든 메뉴를 풀다운 메뉴 형식으로 구성하여 사용자가 쉽게 사용할 수 있어 유류관리 업무 효율성을 높일 수 있도록 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to compare data input interfaces used in e-business applications on the web and find optimal input design characteristics. Basic data entry tools such as a pull down menu, list, text input box, and radio button were examined by inputting data into a simulated hotel room reservation web site. Experimental results indicated that the text input box was most efficient for experts or experienced operators when there are more than four menu-items and pull down menu was considered most satisfactory, simplest, and easier to use for novices or unexperienced users. A simple list was determined to be the best for the input of binary data considering user's satisfaction, simplicity, and flexibility but radio button was evaluated best for the ease to use. Design guide lines of this study can be applied to build a usable interactive web sites and increase economic efficiency.

The purpose of this paper is to examine some effects of four menu types: icon menu, icontext menu, pulldown menu, and bar selection menu. Each have been mainly used with hypermedia instruction, learners' metacognition on their errors, menu search time, and scholastic achievements. A further purpose of this paper is suggest some strategies for enabling each learner to select menus more efficiently in order to enhance the learner's own learning effectiveness in hypermedia instruction. There were 100 college students selected as subjects for This study. They had never had experience in Hanoi hypermedia instruction. They were required to use four menu types at random in this experiement. The results of this study are as follows. The menu types had a significant effect on the low metacognition regulation group. Icontext menu types, especially, had a significant effect on achievements. In constrast to this, the menu types did not have any significant effect on the high metacognition regulation group.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction effect of Web site menu designs and information structures on two information searching performances (searching and browsing) and three measures of users' attitudes (appeal, usability, and disorientation). Pronounced interaction effects occurred across four dependent variables except searching when decreasing and increasing information structure were combined with a simple selection menu and a pull-down menu. Further studies are needed to investigate additional interactions among factors of interface and information structure of Web sites.

본 연구에서는 우리나라의 경영과학 입문자들이 선형계획 모형 개발 및 해석을 용이하게 할 수 있도록, 사용하기 편리하고 안정된 선형계획법 소프트웨어를 만들었다. 이 소프트웨어는 풀 수 있는 문제의 크기는 50 * 50으로 제한한 반면 한글로 모두 처리되도록 하였으며, 풀다운 메뉴방식으로 user friendly하며, 입문자들이 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 LINDO식 입력방식을 취하였으며, 패키지 내부에 완벽한 Editing 기능을 갖고 있어서 모형의 수정 보완이 매우 편리하게 되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 소프트웨어의 특성과 구조를 살펴본다.

본 연구에서는 회전기계의 진동신호를 검출, 신호처리, 이상판별, 이상진단 및 경향 예측을 수행하는 이상진동진단 시스템을 개발하였다. 이 시스템의 특징은 GUI를 지원하고 풀다운 메뉴방식을 통한 일관된 환경을 제공하며, 키보드 사용이 거의 없이 마우스만으로 모든 처리가 가능하다. 또한 각 모듈을 하나의 통합환경 내에서 처리된다. 금후 이상진단부분을 보다 개선하여 정밀진단이 이루어지도록 확장하여 갈 예정이다.

본 연구에서는 지리정보시스템(GIS)을 이용하여 철도 연변 낙석, 산사태 관련 공간정보를 검색 및 출력 등 관리할 수 있는 정보시스템을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 전국 철도 노선 중 낙석 및 산사태 발생 가능성이 높은 경춘선, 영동선, 중앙선, 태백선, 정선선의 2.5km 혹은 5km 반경 지역에 대해 철도 관련 정보, 각종 지도 관련 정보, 지형분석 정보, 수문기상 정보, 현장 조사된 낙석 관련 정보 등 각종 공간 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 그리고 구축된 공간 데이터베이스를 관리하는 철도 연변 낙석, 산사태 정보시스템을 개발하였다. 본 정보시스템은 보기환경, 테이블환경, 차트환경, 레이아웃환경, 프로젝트환경 등 5개로 구성되어 있다. 본 정보시스템의 기능은 구축된 공간 데이터베이스를 입력, 검색, 출력 뿐 아니라 자료 변환, 자료 및 범례 편집, 라벨 생성, 화면 확대, 축소, 지도 작성, 그림 편집, 문자 DB 관리, 차트작성, 도움말 등 다양하다. 본 정보시스템은 ArcView의 스크립트 언어인 Avenue를 이용하여 개발되었고 풀다운 메뉴 및 아이콘 방식을 채택하여 사용자가 사용하기 쉽게 개발되었다. 구축된 공간 데이터베이스와 개발된 정보시스템은 낙석 및 산사태 관리 및 분석을 위한 기본 자료 및 도구로 사용될 수 있다.
