  • The operation of the precision-guided missiles with seekers is becoming more and more dominant since the modern wars became geographically localized like anti-terror campaigns and civil wars. Imaging seekers are relatively low-price and applicable to various operational conditions. The image tracker, however, requires highly advanced method for the target tracking under harsh missile flight condition. Missile roll can reduce the tracking performance since it introduces big differences in imagery. The missile roll is inevitable because of the disturbance and flight control error. Consequently, the errors of the subsystems should be under control for the stable performance of the tracker and the whole system. But the performance prediction by some simple metric is almost impossible since the target signature and the tracker are highly nonlinear. We established M&S tool for a precision-guided missile with imaging seeker and analyzed the roll effects to tracking and system performance. Furthermore, we defined the specification of missile subsystems through error analysis to guarantee system performance.

  • This paper presents the stabilization and design of a pan-tilt control part for the directional pan-tilt system for shipboard directional equipment. In order to control each control axis with compensation for ship motion, the 2 degree of freedom(2DOF) PID controller is designed and its parameters are tuned using a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA). Simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the 2 DOF PID controller tuning.

  • Track While Scan(DS) system which can track the multitargets in dense target environment is designed. There are three tasks to be performed: I) Target Detection and 'plot' formation, ii) Plot to track association and, iii) Track updatement. The conventional approach has been to tackle each of these tasks separately. This paper outlines a method for jointly optimizing all the three tasks and presents implementation aspects.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the mr detection and the stability of the object tracking system by an adaptive stereo object hacking using region-based MAD(Mean Absolute Difference) algorithm and the modified PID(Proportional Integral Derivative)-based pan/tilt controller. That is, in the proposed system, the location coordinates of the target object in the right and left images are extracted from the sequential stereo input image by applying a region-based MAD algorithm and the configuration parameter of the stereo camera, and then these values could effectively control to pan/tilt of the stereo camera under the noisy circumstances through the modified PID controller. Accordingly, an adaptive control effect of a moving object can be analyzed through the advanced system with the proposed 3D robot vision, in which the possibility of real-time implementation of the robot vision system is also confirmed.

  • The simultaneous operation of multiple UAV's makes it possible for us to raise the mission accomplishment and cost efficiency. For this we need an easily scalable control algorithm, and swarm intelligence having the characteristics such as flexibility, robustness, decentralized control and self-organization comes into the spotlight as a practical substitute. In this paper the features of swarm intelligence are described, and various research results are introduced which show that the application of swarm intelligence to the control of multiple UAV's enables the missions of surveillance, path planning, target tracking and attack to be accomplished efficiently by simulations and tests.

  • In this paper, in order to analyze the performance of a decoy system for ship defense against an anti-ship missile(ASM) with an infrared image(IIR) seeker, the modeling and engagement simulation program is introduced. The IIR seeker on the ASM detects the infrared signal of ship from a distance and approaches the ship based on proportional navigation guidance(PNG) or impact angle control guidance(IACG). Hence the guidance performance of the ASM is basically depend on the target tracking algorithm of the seeker as well as the infrared signal of the ship. Using the developed program, we can investigate the effect of the ship decoy system such as flares and surface cooling system of the ship with respect to various kinds of tracking algorithms of the IIR seeker of the ASM.

  • Conventional target tracking algorithms based on the linear estimation techniques perform quite efficiently when the target motion does not involve maneuvers. Target maneuvers involving short term accelerations, however, cause a bias in the measurement sequence. Accurate compensation for the bias requires processing more samples of which adds to the computational complexity. The primary motivation for employing a neural network for this task comes from the efficiency with which more features can be as inputs for bias compensation. A system architecture that efficiently integrates the fusion capabilities of a trained multilayer neural net with the tracking performance of a Kalman filter is described. The parallel processing capability of a properly trained neural network can permit fast processing of features to yield correct acceleration estimates and hence can take the burden off the primary Kalman filter which still provides the target position and velocity estimates.

  • During the last decade many researches have been working on multiple target tracking problem in the area of radar application, Various approaches have been proposed to solve the tracking problem and the concept of sensor fusion was established as an effort. In this paper utilization of geographic information for ground target tracking is investigated and performance comparison with the results of applying sensor fusion is described. Geographic information is used in three aspects: association masking target measurement and re-striction of removing true target. Simulation results indicate that using two sensors shows better performance with respect to tracking but a single with geographic information is a winner in reducing the number of false tracks.

  • The actuator's response delay, disturbance and measurement noise can often cause a significant error in the target tracking of an underwater vehicle. The first purpose of this paper is error analysis about motion of an underwater vehicle when the closed loop system has actuator and disturbance and noise. The underwater vehicle is simulated for cases of various disturbances. The second purpose is robust controller design for the underwater vehicle with parameter uncertainty. So, two robust control methods are applied for the underwater vehicle. One is standard $H_{\infty}$ control, and the other is time-varying sliding mode control with modified saturation function. Suboptimal design parameters for $H_{\infty}$ control, and design parameters for time-varying switching surfaces are provided Simulations for the two controllers are carried out and their performances are analyzed.lyzed.
