  • 직충돌 이온산란 분광법(ICISS: Impact Collision Ion Scattering Spectroscopy)을 이용한 고체표면 해석의 마지막 개설로서 금속 표면에 대한 연구를 소개하기로 한다. 금속은 도체이기 때문에 전하 축적을 방지하려는 별도의 장치가 필요 없다. 또한 결정구조가 간단하여 금속재료 자체보다는 표면의 흡착구조 및 반응, 박막 구조 등과 같은 분야에서 ISS를 이용하고 있다. 세라믹이나 반도체와 구별되는 응용 분야로서는 첫째 금속의 높은 표면 반응성을 이용하는 촉매와 같은 분야에 있어서 표면에서 일어나는 반응을 추적하기 위한 수단으로 사용된다. 둘째 표면 용융 현상을 표면 원자의 위치 결정을 통하여 연구할 수 있다. 마지막으로 자성재료의 표면 자성 특성을 스핀분극 ISS를 이용하여 접근할 수 있다. 이상과 같은 금속 표면물성 분야에 대하여 ICISS를 적용한 연구 사례를 소개하고자 한다.

Analysis of Electromagnetic Wave Scattering From a Perfectly Conducting One Dimensional Fractal Surface Using the Monte-Carlo Moment Method (몬테칼로 모멘트 방법을 이용한 1차원 프랙탈 완전도체 표면에서의 전자파 산란 해석)

  • In this paper, the scattered field from a perfectly conducting fractal surface by the Monte-Carlo moment method was computed. An one-dimensional fractal surface was generated by using the fractional Brownian motion model. Back scattering coefficients are calculated with different values of the spectral parameter(S$\_$0/), and fractal dimension(D) which determine characteristics of the fractal surface. The number of surface realization for the computed field, the point number, and the width of surface realization are set to be 80, 2048, and 64L, respectively. In order to verify the computed results these results are compared with those of small perturbation methods, which show good agreement between them.

A one-dimensional fractal surface was generated by using the fractional Brownian motion model.   • The integral equations used in electromagnetic fields theory can be used for scattering problems. We can obtain various characteristics of scatterer. Ie, power pattern, scattered field, by finding current distribution on the scatterer. In this paper, current distribution on polygonal cylinder is obtained using integral equations in 2 dimension. For numerical aualysis, the moment method is used with pulse function as a basis function and integral equation is used with extrapolation method, which saves cpu time.

  • High-frequency (126-㎑) bottom backscattering measurements with various bottom types were conducted at the water tank in Ocean Acoustic Laboratory, Hanyang University. For the purpose of investigating the energy distribution of bottom scattering with various bottom types, the sediment was varied with gravel, sand, sandy mud and mixed bottoms. To examine the anisotropic nature of the scattering due to the orientations of bottom ripple, the footprints were made transverse and longitudinal to the direction of incident wave. The total scattering characteristics are that the larger grazing angles the larger backscattering strengths become and backscattering strengths for a transverse ripple case are higher than those of longitudinal ripple case. finally, the variations of scattering strength depend mainly on the ripple's orientation.

  • The therapy of total body irradiation on leukemia carries out to kill harmful bacteria or suppression of immune system by external beam therapy, which is a preparatory stage to reconstitute bone marrow before a pre-treatment of bone marrow transplantation to patients with health bone marrow cells. In case of this kind of radiation therapy, the spoiler use to increase surface dose of patient which varies depending on distance and thickness between patient and spoiler. In this study, the change was investigated the surface dose according to thickness of spoiler. The 0.5% increase of surface dose was observed with each 2.0 cm when the spioler in acrylic was prepared from 0.5 cm to 3.0 cm at intervals of 0.5 cm was evaluated. Based on this result, it suggests that this kind of application will be somewhat limited on clinical trials directly but proper surface dose can be useful method when is applied on patients of treatment prognosis who are required each different surface dose.

풀밭 지역 편파별 후방 산란 특성 분석용 알고리즘 개발

  • 본 논문에서는 풀밭으로 덮힌 지역의 초고주파 대역 편파별 후방 산란을 분석하는데 있어서 Radiative Transfer 이론의 첫 번째 해를 이용하였다. 풀밭지역에서의 잎은 사각형 형태의 resistive sheet 으로 모델화 시키고, 잎의 크기와 방향성은 불규칙적으로 흩어져 있다고 가정하였다. 땅에서의 흙의 수분 함유량과 표면 거칠기도 고려하였다. 이러한 지역에서의 후방 산란 계수는 풀밭 지역과 레이더 요소들에 따라 각각 다른 계산 결과를 나타낸다. 측정은 15 GHz 대역의 레이더 시스템을 사용하여 풀 층에서의 산란 계수를 측정하고 풀 층에서의 산란 모델을 이용하여 계산 결과와 측정값을 비교하였고 이 모델을 이용하여 Visual-Basic을 이용한 사용자 프로그램인 TSM(Total Scattering Model)을 제작하였다.

Analysis of Surface Dose Refer to Distance between Beam Spoiler and Patient in Total Body Irradiation (전신방사선조사(Total Body Irradiation) 시 Beam Spoiler와 환자 간의 거리에 관한 고찰)

  • Purpose: Total body irradiation is used to kill the total malignant cell and for immunosuppression component of preparatory regimens for bone-marrow restitution of patients. Beam spoiler is used to increase the dose to the superficial tissues. This paper finds the property of the distance between beam spoiler and patient. Materials and Methods: Set-up conditions are 6 MV-Xray, 300 MU, SAD = 400 cm, field size = $40{\times}40cm^2$. The parallel plate chamber located in surface, midpoint and exit of solid water phantom. The surface dose is measured while the distance between beam spoiler and patient is altered. Because it should be found proper distance. The solid water phantom is fixer and beam spoiler is moving. Results: Central dose of phantom is 10.7 cGy and exit dose is 6.7 cGy. In case of distance of 50 cm to 60 cm between beam spoiler and solid water phantom, incidence dose is $14.58{\sim}14.92cGy$. Therefore, The surface dose was measured $99.4{\sim}101%$ with got near most to the prescription dose. Conclusion: In clinical case, distance between beam spoiler and patient affect surface dose. If once $50{\sim}60cm$ of distance between beam spoiler and patient, surface dose of patient got near prescription dose. It would be taken distance between beam spoiler and patient into account in clinical therapy.

UHV x-ray scattering system for surface structural studies (표면원자구조 연구를 위한 초고진공 X-선 산란 장치)

  • We introduce the structure and the capability of a UHV x-ray scattering system constructed for surface structural studies. The system consists of vacuum parts required for surface preparation and a vertical-horizontal diffractometer using the S2D2 geometry. To illustrate the capability of the system, we measured the 7$\times$7 reconstruction peak of a Si (111) surface. The peak count rate was 216 counts/sec and the domain size of the 7$\times$7 reconstruction was larger than 1600 $\AA$. This demonstrates that the system is capable of providing surface structural information.
