Hyperthermia using transrectal thermal probes has been used for a noninvasive treatment of prostate diseases. However it is known that heating the rectal wall at excessively high temperature can lead to destruction of the rectal mucous membrane. and it is difficult to maintain an optimum temperature over the entire prostate. Thus, a more accurate understanding of the heat transfer mechanism between prostate and hyperthermia system is needed Numerical analysis was performed to investigate how the cold/warm stimulations on the prostate surface affect the temperature distribution in the prostate model. The general purpose software "FLUENT" was used for obtaining a finite volume solution to the unsteady conduction equation and to calculate the time-varying temperature in the prostate. Effects of the warm/cold stimulations and the stimulation frequency on the temperature distribution were simulated. and we visualized how hyperthermia affected the inside of the prostate. It was found that the effect of hyperthermia by using a typical heating method is limited due to the low thermal conductivity of the prostate. Consecutive repetitions of warm and cold stimulations were considered to provide the thermal irritations inside a prostate. The effects of temperature difference and duration of warm/cold stimulations were investigated, and basic data for the optimum period and effective patterns of stimulations were obtained. A simplified bioheat equation was also solved to describe effects of the blood flow on the blood-tissue heat transfer. The effect of blood flow was not dominant compared to that of warm/cold stimulations. These results might be used as data for design of prostate treating probe, prostatic therapy and thermal stimulation effects on the prostate.

In this paper, the E-polarized electromagnetic scattering problems by a resistive strip grating with tapered resistivity on 3 dielectric layers are analyzed to find out the effects for the tapered resistivity of resistive strip and the relative permittivity and thickness of 3 die- lectric layers by applying the Fourier-Galerkin moment methods. The induced surface current density is expanded in a series of Jacobi-polynomial ${P^{(\chi,\beta)}}_p$(.) of the order $\alpha$= 0 and $\beta$=1 as a kind of orthogonal polyomians, and the tapered resistivity assumes to vary linearly from 0 at one edge to finite resistivity at the other edge. The normalized reflected and transmitted powers are obtained by varying the tapered resistivity and the relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layers. The sharp variation points are observed when the higher order modes are transferred between propagating and evanescent modes, and in general the local minimum positions occur at less grating period for the more relative permittivity of dielectric layers. It should be noted that the patterns of the normalized reflected and transmitted powers for the tapered resistivity are very much different from those of the uniform resistivity and perfectly conducting cases. The proposed method of this paper cna solve the scattering problems for the tapered resistive, uniform resistive, and PEC strip cases.

In this paper, we propose a new frequency reconfigurable dual-band antenna. By using an electronically compact eighth-mode substrate-integrated-waveguide(EMSIW) resonator, we have designed a compact antenna, which performs dual-band movement by additionally loading a complementary split ring resonator(CSRR) structure. The EMSIW and CSRR structures are designed to satisfy the bandwidths of 1.575 GHz(GPS) and 2.4 GHz(WLAN), respectively. We load the CSRR with a varactor diode to allow a narrow bandwidth and to enable the resonance frequency to continuously vary from 2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz. Thus, we realize a channel selection function that is used in the WLAN standards. Irrespective of how a varactor diode moves, the EMSIW independently resonates so that the antenna maintains a fixed frequency of the GPS bandwidth even at different voltages. Consequently, as the DC bias voltage changes from 11.4 V to 30 V, the resonance frequency of the WLAN bandwidth continuously changes between 2.38 GHz and 2.5 GHz, when the DC bias voltage changes from 11.4 V to 30 V. We observe that the simulated and the measured S-parameter values and radiation patterns are in good agreement with each other.
$BiFeO_3$ (BFO) thin films were deposited on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100) substrates by RF magnetron sputtering method at room temperature. The influence of the flow rate of $O_2$ gas on the preparation of $BiFeO_3$ thin films was studied. XRD results indicate that the $BiFeO_3$ thin films were crystallized to the perovskite structure with the presence of small amount of impurity phases. The flow rate of $O_2$ gas has great affect on the microstructures and magnetic properties of $BiFeO_3$ thin films. As flow rate of $O_2$ gas increased, roughness and grain size of the thin films increased. $BiFeO_3$ thin films exhibited weak ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature. The PFM images revealed correlation between the surface morphology and the piezoresponse, indicating that the piezoelectric coefficient is related to microstructure.

We manufactured rice-whole soybean curd by a microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) with a mixture of hydrolyzed rice and micronized whole soybean powder (MWSP) and analyzed its rheological properties, including texture, viscoelasticity, protein cross-linking, and surface structure. A 40% rice suspension digested with a Termamyl enzyme at $85^{\circ}C$ for 20 min showed a 9.0% reducing sugar and a consistency of $1.27\;Pa{\cdot}s^n$, resulting in a great reduction in consistency. A MWSP suspension with 22% solid content was transformed into a typical tofu texture. MWSP curd fortified with 7.5% rice showed enhanced texture properties, with a hardness of 639.6 dyne/$cm^2$, and a springiness of 0.96. In a MWSP suspension (18~22% w/v) treated with 5% MTGase, viscoelasticity increased dependently with MWSP concentration, and a 22% MWSP indicated a G' value of 5.1 Pa and a G'' value of 9.0 Pa. Furthermore, soybean proteins present in the 22% MWSP curd largely disappeared or formed polymers with a high molecular weight by MTGase reaction within 30 min. MWSP (22%) fortified with 7.5% rice showed similar polymerization patterns on SDS-PAGE. The surface structure of the rice-MWSP curds was more dense and homogeneous network due to the addition of hydrolyzed rice. However, the surface structure of all rice-MWSP curds became rough and showed a non-homogeneous network after cold storage.
Microwave-assisted extraction, which is known to rapidly extract target compounds from natural products, was monitored by response surface methodology (RSM) while extracting ginsenosides by using microwave extraction system (MES) equipped with closed vessels, and was confirmed on its extraction efficiency. On the whole, coefficients of determinations $(R^2)$ of the models on ginsenoside contents of extracts with various extraction conditions were above 0.83 (p<0.1). $Ginsenoside-Rb_2,\;-Rc,\;-Re\;and\;-Rg_1$ were maximized in $140^{\circ}C$ of extraction temperature and $50\~75\%$ range of ethanol concentration. Unknown compound peak on HPLC chromatogram observed at extraction temperature over $120^{\circ}C$, increased at the extraction temperature of $150^{\circ}C$. The extraction temperature of $ginsenoside-Rb_2$ and -Re increased from $129^{\circ}C\;to\;147^{\circ}C$ with including unknown compound, and $R^2$ of the models on ginsenoside contents of extracts increased with including unknown compound into ginsenoside $Rb_2$ and Re. Contents of unknown compound were minimized in $67.33\%$ of ethanol concentration, $99.34^{\circ}C$ of extraction temperature and 3.65 min of extraction time. Ginsenoside contents extracted by microwave system for 8 min showed a similar tendency to those of the current extraction method for 40 hrs.

In this study, the InGaP epilayers were grown on the exact and the $2^{\circ}$, $6^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$ of cut GaAs substrates by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy, and the effects of interfacial elastic strains determined by the substrate offcut angle upon the resulting dislocation density of epilayer were investigated for the first time. The elastic strains were obtained from lattice mismatch and lattice misfit by TXRD, and the dislocation densities from epilayer x-ray FWHM. For the offcut angle range used in this study, the elastic strain was maximum and x-ray FWHM minimum at offcut angle $6^{\circ}$. From 11K PL measurements, PL wavelength was found to decrease with an increase of offcut angle. PL intensity was maximum at offcut angle $6^{\circ}$. TEM results showed that the electron diffraction pattern was of typical zincblende structure, and that the dislocation density was minimum for substrate offcut angle $6^{\circ}$. The results obtained in this study, along with the device fabrication process and beam characteristics, clearly demonstrated that the optimum substrate offcut angle for the InGaP/GaAs heterostructures is $6^{\circ}$.

To investigate feeding behaviour of the greenpeach aphid (Myzus persicae) on several plants, DC electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique was used. We chose 5 plants including pepper, melon, cabbage, radish, and eggplant which were known as major host Plants of this species. This study was focused whether feeding patterns of the aphid were different and which plants would be the most preferable among 5 host plants. The time from initial proboscis contact with a each leaf until the first electrical contact, as a measure of the time taken for the stylet penetration, the time from electrical contact to the first potential drop as a time consumed until intracellular sampling, the number of potential drops per an hour during periods of regular intercellular pathway probing, and the time from electrical contact to tile first phloem specific pattern indicating the time taken to reach and attempt to feed upon the phloem were analysed. As a result, except the number of potential drop, there was no significant differency of feeding patterns among 5 plants. However, the feeding patterns related on host acceptability were observed more frequently from Pepper, radish, and e99r1an1 than melon and cabbage.
In this study, we fabricated poly (lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) scaffold modified with small intestinal submucosa (SIS) as a drug delivery matrix of bioactive molecules. SIS derived from the submucosa layer of porcine intestine has been widely used as biomaterial because of low immune response. PLGA scaffold was prepared by the method of solvent casting/salt leaching. Novel composite scaffolds of SIS/PLGA were manufactured by simple immersion method of PLGA scaffold in SIS solution under vacuum. SEM observation shows that PLGA and SIS/PLGA scaffolds have interconnective and open pores. Especially, SIS/PLGA scaffold showed that micro-sponge of SIS with interconnected pore structures were formed in the pores of PLGA scaffold. In order to assay release profile of proteins, we manufactured FITC conjugated BSA loaded PLGA and SIS/PLGA scaffold. And the release amount was identified by fluorescence intensity using the fluorescence spectrophotometer. The initial burst of BSA containing SIS/PLGA scaffolds was lower than that of PLGA scaffolds resulting in constant release. And release of BSA in SIS/PLGA scaffold was fast and incremental because of the increased content of BSA. In conclusion, we confirmed that penetrated SIS solution prevented the initial burst of BSA and PLGA modified with SIS scaffold is useful as protein carriers with controlled release pattern.
This study compared the quality characteristics, including aroma, of M. longissimus from five Korean native black barrows(64 kg, KNP) and five modem genotype barrows($Landrace{\times}Yorkshire{\times}Duroc$, 114 kg, MGP), during vacuum packaged-chilling. The samples were vacuum packaged, stored at $2{\pm}0.3^{\circ}C$ for 12 days, and then subjected to quality measurement. The KNP had higher fat content than did MGP(p<0.05), but KNP contained lower C14:0, C18:3 and C20:5 concentrations than did MGP(p<0.05). The KNP showed lower pH values(p<0.05) and water-holding capacities than did MGP, and were redder in color than MGP during storage. The TBARS increased more quickly in KNP than in MGP samples during storage. In texture, KNP showed firmer muscle tone than did MGP during storage(p<0.05). Various aroma compounds including 3-methyl-l-butanol, 2-ethyl hexanol and m-xylene were detected with SPME-GC/MS after 12 days of storage, and aroma patterns of KNP and MGP, obtained with an electronic nose, differed during storage.
