  • The permeable polymer-modified concrete has a lot of internal voids, which has more excellent performance in permeability and durability than asphalt and cement concrete. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to ascertain the strength properties of water-permeable polymer concretes with SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder. The water-permeable polymer concretes using SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder with water-binder ratio of 29 %, polymer-cement ratios of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 % are prepared, and tested for compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, water permeablility. From the test results, improvements in the strength properties of the water-permeable polymer concretes due to the addition of the SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder are discussed.

  • The effects of slag content and polymer-binder ratio on the strength properties of the polymer-modified concretes using ground granulated blast-furnace slag and a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) latex are examined. As a result, the compressive, tensile and flexural strengths of the SBR-modified concretes using slag increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio and slag content, and maximized at a slag content of 40 %. In particular, the SBR-modified concretes with a slag content of 40 % provide approximately two times higher tensile and flexural strengths than unmodified concretes. Such high strength development is attributed to the high tensile strength of SBR polymer and the improved bond between cement hydrates and aggregates because of the addition of SBR latex.

  • The effects of polymer-binder ratio and metakaolin content on the properties of ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes using metakaolin are examined. As a result, regardless of the metakaolin content, the flexural, compressive and adhesion in tension strength of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes tend to increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio. Regardless of the polymer-binder ratio, the strengths of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes increase with increasing metakaolin content, and reaches a maximum at metakaolin content of 5%. The water absorption, carbonation depth and resistance of chloride ion penetration of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified concretes decrease with increasing polymer-binder ratio. The resistance of freezing and thawing improvement is attributed to the improved bond between cement hydrates and aggregates because of the incorporation of polymer dispersion.

  • Diffusion of water in hardened cement concrete and mortar influences on the dry shrinkage. creep. modulus of' elasticity, etc. In general, water loss through drying process in polymer-modified concrete and mortar is small compared with that of unmodified concrete and mortar due to the films formed by polymer as cement modifieder. The purpose of this study is to investigate the diffusion process of water in the polymer-modified mortars. The polymer-modified mortars using three polymer dispersions and epoxy resin are prepared with various polymer-cement ratios, and water diffusion coefficient of polymer-modified mortars according to inside water content is calculated. From the test results, the water diffusion coefficient of polymer modified mortars i s smaller than that of unmodified mortars and decreases with increasing polymer cement ratio.

  • The effects of slag content and polymer-binder ratio on the strength properties of autoclaved SBR-modified concretes using ground granulated blast-furnace slag(slag) and a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) latex are examined. As a result, the compressive and tensile strengths of the autoclaved SBR-modified concretes using slag increase with increasing slag content, and reach a maximum at a slag content 40%, and increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio. In particular, the autoclaved SBR-modified concretes with a slag content of 40% provide about three times higher tensile strength than unmodified concretes. Such high strength development is attributed to the high tensile strength of SBR polymer and the improved bond between cement hydrates and aggregates because of the addition of SBR latex.

  • The effects of polymer-cement ratio on strength properties of ultrarapid-hardening acrylic-modified concretes. As a result, the flexural and tensile strengths of ultrarapid-hardening acrylic-modified concretes increase with increasing of polymer-cement ratio. In particular, the acrylic-modified concretes with a polymer-cement ratio of 20% provide approximately 1.5 times higher flexural and tensile strengths than unmodified concretes. Such high strength development is attributed to the high flexrul and tensile strengths of arcylic polymer and the improved bond between cement hydrates and aggregates because of the addition of acrylic polymer. However, the compressive strengths of ultrarapid-hardening acrylic-modified concretes decrease with increasing of polymer-cement ratio.

  • 분쇄한 FRP(Fiver-Reinforced Plastics) 폐기물을 사용한 폴리머 모르타르의 물성에 고나하여 조사하였다.

  • This study aims to attain the basic data needed for the adaptation and application of polymer cement concrete as a new construction material by reviewing the various physical characteristics of polymer cement concrete following the changes in polymer type. The research found that cement concrete mixed with polymer, while it had some variation, had excellent qualities in all of compressive strength, tensile strength, water absorption, weight reducing ratio, and resistance of freezing and thawing.

  • Up to this day, reinforced spun concrete pipes have been widely used as drain pipes. However, many reinforced spun concrete pipes are exposed to the deteriorated environment such as freezing-thawing damage and chemical attack by the growth of a sulfur-oxidizing bacterium isolated from corroded concrete. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of lining by polymer-modified mortar using polymer dispersions as cement modifier on the development in durability of reinforced spun concrete pipe. The polymer-modified mortars were prepared with various polymer types and polymer-cement ratios, and tested for compressive and flexural strengths, acid, freezing-thawing, and heat resistances. And then, the reinforced spun concrete pipe product lined by polymer-modified mortars was tested for adhesion in tension and surface conditions according to curing temperatures in the field. From the test results, it is apparent that the polymer-modified mortars have good mechanical properties and durability as a lining material. In practice, all polymers can be used as lining the materials for reinforced spun concrete pipe, and types of polymer, and polymer-cement ratio and curing conditions are controlled for a good lining product.
