For many organization, a strategic information systems planning (SISP) continues to be a critical issue. This paper is an empirical study of what is being done in Korea with respect to SISP. A survey questionnaire was mailed to the major 1000 Korean companies. In this research, the experiences of 51 companies contribute the SISP practices including the success factor of SISP. Forty-three percent of the respondents indicated that their companies undertook some form of SISP. We also compared finding with the state of SISP practices in Singapore.

This paper is to show the meaningfulness of applying Information Technology Architecture (ITA) to the modeling of a nation-wide e-Business architecture framework. After reviewing various architecture frameworks we suggested a unique architecture framework called VMT (Views, Models, and Time-frames). VMT represents five views of e-Business stakeholders; six models of data, function, network, agent, event, and rule; and three timeframes of short-term, mid-term, and long-term. VMT is an extension and unification of popular frameworks including Zachman's framework that has international recognition and use, C4ISR architecture framework of US DoD's, and Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) of the US Federal Government's.

This study reports on the development of a metadata schema and an information retrieval system for the Food Education Digital Library project initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Korea Food Education Network. The metadata schema developed using MODS describes various types of food & nutrition education materials and helps users discover and identify appropriate materials. The implemented information retrieval system supports various search options such as keyword and directory search as well as search for holdings of the library and linked materials.

The purpose of this study is to develop the classification scheme in subject-based directory search engine for educational research information on the web. Five classification systems. Yahoo Korea, Argus Clearinghouse, DDC, ERIC thesaurus and KEDI thesaurus were measured in terms of coverage of subject fields, system logic, accuracy of terminology and efficiency of searching. For the design of Classification Scheme, this study considered the content of subject areas, features of information resources and efficiency based on users. Finally, the Classification Scheme was established in terms of 16 main divisions and 47 sub-divisions in educational research information.

The current study challenges to suggest an umbrella strategy applied to different type of crisis, which is different from normative principle in crisis communication. The umbrella or comprehensive strategy in this study is identification framing. Identification framing is strategic message for organizational identification, which is close to social identification. The current study employed experimental design manipulating crisis types, crisis response types, and identification framing. The crisis types were internal versus external crisis, crisis responses were denial versus apology, and using identification framing $2{\times}2{\times}2$ factorial design were used. Two hundreds forty students participated in the experiment. The result showed the significant effectiveness of identification framing in different crisis types and crisis responses.

In this study, a retrieval system taking advantage of term relationship in a specific domain and also of evidential reasoning as tools for measuring relevance is implemented. For this experiment, techincal memoranda documented in Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) served as a sample document file. Sample knowledge base was prepared by extracting terms and term relations pertaining to telecommunications from INSPEC thesaurus. Relations between terms were represented by numerical values according to types of term relations. Relationship between a query and a document was measured according to Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. As a result of this experiment, a more comprehensive search was made by expanding search terms utilizing term relations. Measure of relevance represented by reflecting term relations, and search results were listed in a descending order of relevance.

Needs for a new technologies of infrastructure systems arose, following the development of next generation EMU(Electric Multiple Unit) train with maximum speed over 400km/h. For high-speed operation tests of the new EMU, a high-speed railway infrastructure test-bed was constructed in a 28km long section of the Honam High-speed Railway. Diverse sensors and monitoring system was installed for continuous monitoring of the railway. Due to such effort, further demands and needs of the integrated monitoring system was derived in a more comprehensive and long-term perspective.

The current Internet space is evolving to the so called Ubiquitous space. Unlike the Internet space, the information in the Ubiquitous space is distributed evenly in the places like computer's memory, human's brain and physical machine. The 'hypertext', the connection model of the information, which is originally designed for the Internet space doesn't suit well to the Ubiquitous space. From this point of view, we proposed the CPM model in this paper. The CPM model is designed for comprising the such three computing mechanism as analog computing, digital computing and human computing. In this paper, we showed that the characteristics of the CPM model might answer the such purpose as the connection of information in the Ubiquitous space.
