Characteristics of Suspended Sediment Transport in Wave and Current Co-Existing System (파랑과 흐름이 공존하는 영역에서의 평형 및 비평형 부유사이동특성)

  • Characteristics of suspended sediment concentration of equilibrium and non-equilibrium state caused by waves and currents are investigated by conducting a movable bed experiments in wave tanks. In the region where a downward flux of suspended sediment is larger than a upward flux, time-averaged vertical distribution of suspended sediment does not indicate logarithmic distribution. A new numerical procedure for predicting time-averaged suspended sediment concentration is also proposed based on two-dimensional advective diffusion equation by applying a split-operator approach. It is found that the unposed procedure can predict measured distribution of suspended sediment satisfactorily.

  • In a cryogenic propellant tank the pressurant is contracted due to heat loss and the propellant itself evaporates. On a restartable propulsion system such phenomena are more intensive because the propellant contacts with the pressurant on the larger surface during the coast flight. Such heat and mass transfer phenomena should be considered for estimating the amount of pressurant. On the hypothesis that the heat and mass transfer quasi-equilibrium is achieved during the coast flight, the calculation process of the equilibrium pressure is presented. On the process the amount of loaded helium on the Falcon-1 second stage is calculated.

  • A theoretical model for the calculation of chemical equilibrium composition of propellant combustion product is briefly presented for the performance analysis of monopropellant hydrazine rocket engine. Analysis result is compared to that of test and evaluation of 1-lbf class thruster and is scrutinized primarily from the view point of ammonia dissociation fraction. Chemical equilibrium composition and average molecular weight is additionally depicted according to the variation of propellant inlet pressures and the varying nozzle area ratio. The theoretical analysis is tried as a way of derivation of design parameters for mid- and large-thrust class of monopropellant rocket engines.

  • The proposed method, capable of predicting various stress-strain responses in axially loaded concrete confined with FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymers) composites in a rational manner, is based on the fact that the volumetric expansion due to progressive microcracking in mechanically loaded concrete is an important measure of the extent of damage in the material microstructure. The elastic modulus expressed as a function of area strain and concrete porosity, the energy-balance equation relating the dilating concrete to the confining device interactively, the varying confining pressure, and an incremental calculation algorithm are included in the solution procedure. This procedure enables the evaluation of lateral strains consecutively according to the related mechanical model and the energy-balance equation, rather than using an empirically derived equation for Poisson's ratio or dilation rate as in other analytical methods.

  • In this paper, an application of finite element procedure for the analysis of slope failure behavior has been studied. The most widely accepted methods in analyzing the slope stability problems are mostly based on limit equilibrium method. And the finite element method is widely accepted to analyze stress and displacements. This paper shows how the factor of safety calculated in the finite element method can be systematically incorporated into slope stability. In analyzing the slope failure behavior by finite element method, the effects of computational method and the results have been discussed. And several computations of slope stabilities were carried out to compare the finite element analysis results with those obtained by methods of slices based on the limit equilibrium analysis.

  • Interfacial surface crack perpendicular to the surface, which is imbedded into bonded quarter planes under single anti-plane shear load is analyzed. The problem is formulated using Mellin transform, form which single Wiener-Hopf equation is derived. By solving the equation stress intensity factor is obtained in closed form. This solution can be used as a Green's function to generate the solutions of other problems with the same geometry but of different loading conditions.

  • Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium data have been measured for binary systems n-dodecane-1-defanol, n-doderane-1-dodecanol, and 1-decanoi-1-dodecanol at 140$^{\circ}C$ by using head space gas chromatography (H.S.G.C) as a static method. The activity coefficients, calculated taking into acount the nonideality of the liquid phase, were correlated with the conventional g$\^$E/ model, Margules, van Laar, Wilson, NRTL equations. These equilibrium data were thermodynamically consistent by Rrdlich- kister test, among these data, system n-dodecane-1-detanoi has minimum azeotrope.

  • 최근 천연가스 개발의 중요성이 대두되면서 심해저 퇴적층에 존재하고 있는 천연가스 하이드레이트 개발에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 심해저 퇴적층에 부존하는 가스 하이드레이트 조건과 유사하게 하기위해 3 wt% 농도의 염수를 다공성 실리카 젤 기공에 넣어 사용하였다. 기공의 직경에 따른 영향을 알아보기 위해 기공 직경이 각각 6.0, 15.0, 30.0 nm인 실리카 젤을 사용하여, 천연가스 주성분인 에탄, 프로판, 메탄+프로판 하이드레이트의 3상 (H-Lw-V) 평형을 측정하였다. 그 결과 기공의 크기가 작아질수록 각각의 벌크 상태의 에탄, 프로판, 메탄+프로판 하이드레이트에 비해 하이드레이트의 평형조건이 온도는 낮아지고 압력이 높아지는 저해효과가 커짐을 알 수 있었다. 실험값으로 부터 기공 내의 물과 하이드레이트상 사이의 계면장력 값을 Gibbs-Thomson식에 의해 구할 수 있으며, 열역학 계산을 통하여 실험값과 비교하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 심해저 천연가스 개발, 이산화탄소 심해저장 등의 가스 하이드레이트 응용 연구에 유용한 기초 자료가 될 것이다.

  • The aerodynamic heating at a nose cone is predicted under the KSR-III flight conditions. An equilibrium reacting gas condition is applied. The parametric study is performed with Mach number of 4.9, 10.2 and 15 and for the following nose shapes of hemisphere, cut cylinder and parabola. AUSMPW+ and shock aligned grid technique are used to provide the best aerodynamic solutions. In addition, the composite material of a nose cone is discussed in the viewpoint of a thermal safety.
