  • In this paper, the high efficiency balanced amplifier is presented as high efficiency power amplifier. This amplifier is basically composed of two FETs, an input power divider, output power combiner, input matching circuits, output matching circuits, second harmonic interconnection circuit and lowpass filter. The second harmonic interconnection circuit is composed of second harmonic frequency bandpass filter and transmission line. This circuit is inserted between the output terminals of the two FEF's output matching circuit, there is a second harmonic standing wave generated between two FET outputs. The electric wall termination is equivalent to the short circuit termination. As a result, the FET output termination condition needed to attain high efficiency is realized. Experimental high efficiency balanced amplifier is constructed to determine its practically attainable efficiency. The input VSWR is 1.27, and the output VSWR is 1.18. Power added efficiency of 75% is attained at 1.75 GHz band about 3W to balanced amplifier.

  • In this paper, a single balanced diode Mixer for the homodyne FMCW radar to detect distance and velocity of a vehicle target is designed and implemented using a microstrip line and two schottky barrier beam lead diodes. This mixer is optimally designed to have less a conversion loss within the 100 MHz bandwidth with a little LO injection power and a higher LO isolation as soon as possible through the embedded electrical length of microsrtrip line placed between the coupler and diode matching, considering together LO matching condition. The measured results show 6 dB of conversion loss, 23 dB LO/RF isolation and 3 dBm of input 1l dB, respectively.

  • The input equivalent resistances and operating properties of a transless double balanced modulator are quantitatively investigated in considerations of the nonlinear characteristics of diodes. The input equivalent resistances are derived from the power loss calculations of the circuit. Carrier suppression and modulation efficiency are calculated by using approximate equations which describe the dynamic curves of the diode circuits. The results are represented as a function of the voltage amplitude of a carrier signal owing to the nonlinear characteristics of diodes.

  • A geometric non-linear finite element formulation of spatial ocean cable under currents is presented using multiple noded curved cable elements. Tangent stiffness and mass matrices for the isoparametric cable ele¬ment are derived and the initial equilibrium state of ocean cable subjected to self-weights, buoyancy, and current as well as support motions is determined using the load incremental method. Free vibration analysis of ocean cables is performed based on the initial equilibrium configuration. Numerical examples are presented and discussed in order to demonstrate the feasibility of the present finite element method and investigate dynamic characteristics of ocean cables.

  • In this study, the nonlinear dynamic model of the systems which include the offshore structure, the surrounding sea water in terms of the added mass, the foundation in terms of frequency independent springs, dashpots, and the floating ice feature with its hydrodynamic added mass, are proposed for the problem of the large ice floes impact. Dynamic Analysis is performed on two site conditions, sand site and silt site, and on two seasons, winter and summer, for various ice floe velocities. As a result of study, Ice floes from energy balenced method is lower than that from dynamic modeling on sand site, and higher than the on silt site.

  • The goal of this study was to investigate the influence of exercise training with or without blood flow restriction (BFR) on physical performance and balance in elderly females. Participants (N = 43) were randomly divided into combined exercise with BFR group (n = 14, EX-BFR), only combine exercise group (n =14, EX) or a non-exercise control group (n = 15, CON). Both EX-BFR and EX groups had completed exercise training for 12 weeks. During the training period, the CON group maintained their normal lives. After baseline tests, two-way repeated measures ANOVA with contrast testing was conducted using SPSS 22.0. Study results found that physical performance and balance in both EX-BFR and EX groups were significantly improved, and fall index in both EX-BFR and EX groups were significantly decreased. There were no changes in the CON group. In addition, the % change and effect size of all variables in the EX-BFR group were larger than the EX group. So, the results showed that the EX-BFR group had performed more intense exercise caused by restricted blood flow during the training period compared to the EX group. Thus, exercise with BFR training may additionally influence physical performance and balance in elderly females.

  • In this study we investigated the impact of exercise program through the grip strength, the balance and the bone mineral density of elderly women in rural community. A total of number 56 elderly women were divided into two groups, the experimental group(n=33) and the control group(n=23). The experimental group participated exercise program during 13 weeks from 3 Oct to 29 Decem in 2005, twice a week 60 minutes per session. Among the experimental group, 33 people who participated over 20 times exercise program were chosen as the subjects of analysis. The results of this study were as follows: The grip strength was significantly increased in the experimental group compared with the control group(p<0.05). The Timed up and go test and Bone Mineral Density were significantly increased in the experimental group compared with the control group(p<0.01). In conclusion, there has been a substantial improvement in 13 weeks by exercise program is recommended to elderly women in aspect of increasing the grip strength, the balance and the bone mineral density.

  • This study evaluated the dynamic balance and pain after 12 weeks aquatic exercise in old osteoarthritis patients. The dynamic balances were assessed using 2 different experimental conditions (Open Eye Condition; OEC, Closed Eye Condition; CEC). Twenty-two subjects were assigned one of the two experimental groups: arthritis group (ART, age=$65.25{\pm}5.9$, n=11), control group(CON, age=$64.50{\pm}7$, n=11). All subjects participated in the aquatic exercise program three times a week for 12 weeks. The dynamic balances (OEC (p<.001), CEC (p<.05)) capability were improved significantly in the ART group after 12 week aquatic exercise. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was decreased significantly [Factor 10(Soft chair, p<0.01), 11 (Lying down, p<0.05), 12(Handicap, p<0.05), 13 (Work interference, p<0.01)] in the ART group. In conclusion, aquatic exercise was effective in improving the overall health status and the capacity of dynamic balances and reducing the degree of pain in osteoarthritis patients.

  • We report broadband cascode amplifiers of a single-ended and a balanced amplifier for the millimeter-wave applications. The amplifiers were fabricated using 0.1 ${\mu}m\;{\Gamma}-gate$ PHEMT technology on GaAs substrate. The single-ended cascode amplifier was designed and fabricated by using shunt peaking technology. The fabricated single-ended cascode amplifier shows 3 dB bandwidth of 37 GHz($18.5{\sim}55.5$ GHz) and the maximum $S_{21}$ gain of 9.38 dB. The balanced cascode amplifier using tandem couplers achieves 3 dB bandwidth and the maximum $S_{21}$ gain of 44.5 GHz($21{\sim}65.5$ GHz) and 10.4 dB at 60 GHz, respectively. The 3 dB bandwidth of the balanced cascode amplifier shows 20% lager than the single-ended cascode amplifier.

  • Triple points of high purity materials have been used to calibrate primarily the capsule-type platinum resistance thermometer (PRT) in the temperature range of the triple point of equilibrium hydrogen (13.8033 K) and water (273.16 K). In this work, triple points of Ne, $O_2$, Ar, Hg and $H_2O$ except for the triple point of equilibrium hydrogen were realized to establish the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). At each fixed point, two capsule-type PRTs, which were selected for the international comparison, were tested two times. The combined uncertainties of the realization of each triple point were calculated considering the type A and type B evaluation. In Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, the combined standard uncertainties of the defining triple Points by the ITS-90 were estimated to about 0.18 mK for Ne, 0.14 mK for $O_2$, 0.14 mK for Ar, 0.24 mK for Hg and 0.11 mK for $H_2O$, respectively.
