Development of Bypass Unit for Ship Area Network Based on Legacy-line Communication (무배선 통신을 위한 선박 네트워크용 바이패스 장치 개발)

  • In this paper, we reported the bypass unit for ship area networks in order to detour the communication failure regions and poor communication links. The device was composed of three parts of circuits for power cut-off, protection, and coupling transformer. Since the coupling transformer exerts a dominant influence on the performance of the by-pass unit, we have tried to find the optimal magnetic core materials and its dimensions. The prototype was passed through the performance test of insertion loss, temperature, and vibration characteristics. The insertion loss was around -2 dB in the range of 90 kHz ~ 30 MHz and the average communication speed was 59.2 Mbps in the laboratory. A pilot communication test using the developed tool was conducted in the training ship of the Korea Maritime and Ocean University. As a results of experiment, we showed that the wired communication among the heterogeneous-links in the ship area networks are possible by the bypass unit and also a high speed communication services are available in ~ Mbps by using a power-line.

  • The life of components under high thermal load is typically shorter than other components. The turbopump turbine of liquid rocket is operated under these environments like high temperature and high centrifugal dorce due to high rotating velocity during operating time. These conditions may often cause low-cycle fatigue problem in the turbopump turbine. First of all, to analyze heat stress, ABAQUS/CAE is used and Coffin-manson's equation is used to consider elasticity and plasticity strain. S.W.T's method is used to consider the mean stress effect, using strain history, low-cycle fatigue analysis is done for turbopump turbine which may have FCL(fracture critical location). In this paper, strain life method is applied to analyze low-cycle fatigue.

  • Spray characteristics for APU gas turbine engine are investigated. In the test, four flight conditions such as sea level idle, sea level max power, 20,000 feet idle, 20,000 feet max power are used as spray experimental conditions. Spray visualization was performed by using ND-YAG laser bean PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) was used for measuring the particle diameter and velocity from 20 mm to 100 mm from discharge orifice. From the test result, SMD is $90{\sim}95\;{\mu}m$ 맛 20,000 ft idle condition and SMD is $60{\sim}75\;{\mu}m$ at sea level idle condition. Also SMD is $55{\sim}65\;{\mu}m$ at 20,000 ft max power condition and SMD is $30{\sim}70\;{\mu}m$ at sea level max power condition. In the case of 20,000 ft idle condition, combustion instability could be occurred due to the higher drop diameter. Therefore it is necessary to decrease the droplet diameter in the high altitude condition.

  • 최근 위성영상의 해상도가 증가함에 따라, 하천을 대상으로 한 연구 사례가 많이 보고되고 있다. 하지만 대부분이 환경 생태학적 분야에서 이루어진 연구 결과들이고, 수자원 관리 분야에서의 위성영상 활용 사례는 아직 그 예를 찾아보기가 어렵다. 갑천은 1988년 이후 급속도로 도시화가 진행되어 현재는 잘 정비되어 있는 전형적인 도시하천의 모습을 갖추고 있다. 그러나 아직까지 하천 내에는 많은 양의 초지나 사주가 분포하고 있으며, 이러한 초지나 사주의 존재는 자연형 하천으로서의 역할을 담당하지만 이수 및 치수차원에서는 많은 양의 저수량 손실을 야기하는 문제도 함께 공존해 있다. 본 연구에서는 도시하천을 효율적으로 관리하기 위한 방안으로서 영상을 이용한 수자원 관리 기법을 제안하였다. 다시 말해 본 연구에서 수행한 "도시하천에서의 저수량 평가"는 보와 보사이의 흐름에 의한 유량변화가 전체 저수량에 크게 영향을 미치지 않는다는 가정 하에 다음의 세 단계로 이루어진다. 첫째, 현하천을 사주구역, 초지구역 및 그 외 구역으로 구분한다. 둘째, 현장조사를 실시하여 사주나 초지가 수면과 이루는 경사각을 조사하고, 적절한 통계적 기법을 이용하여 대상 하천의 대표 경사 값을 구한다. 또한 현장조사 시 사주나 초지로부터 충분히 떨어진 지점들의 수심을 측량하여 그 외 지역의 평균 수심을 구한다. 셋째, 영상을 해석할 수 있는 도구를 이용하여 구분된 각 구역의 면적을 계산한 후, 두 번째 단계에서 구한 경사각과 수심을 이용하여 저수량을 산정한다. 본 연구에서는 도시하천을 효율적으로 관리하기 위한 방안으로서 영상을 이용한 수자원 관리 기법을 제안하였다. 특히 도시하천에서의 저수량 산정을 위한 기초연구로서 사주 및 초지가 수면과 이루는 방위별 경사각을 조사하였으며, 그 결과를 분석하여 사주와 초지 각각의 경우에 대한 거리와 수심 간의 회귀곡선식을 구하였다. 하지만 세 번째 단계인 "저수량 산정"은 영상의 확보가 어려워, 본 연구에서는 수행되지 못하였다. 향후, 대상지역 뿐만 아니라 전국 어느 곳이라도, 하루빨리 고해상도의 위성영상이 저가에 보급되어 지기를 기대한다.

A Camera Based Traffic Signal Generating Algorithm for Safety Entrance of the Vehicle into the Joining Road (차량의 안전한 합류도로 진입을 위한 단일 카메라 기반 교통신호 발생 알고리즘)

  • Safety is the most important for all traffic management and control technology. This paper focuses on developing a flexible, reliable and real-time processing algorithm which is able to generate signal for the entering vehicle at the joining road through a camera and image processing technique. The images obtained from the camera located beside and upon the road can be used for traffic surveillance, the vehicle's travel speed measurement, predicted arriving time in joining area between main road and joining road. And the proposed algorithm displays the confluence safety signal with red, blue and yellow color sign. The three methods are used to detect the vehicle which is driving in setted detecting area. The first method is the gray scale normalized correlation algorithm, and the second is the edge magnitude ratio changing algorithm, and the third is the average intensity changing algorithm The real-time prototype confluence safety signal generation algorithm is implemented on stored digital image sequences of real traffic state and a program with good experimental results.

Generation of a Standard Typhoon using for Surge Simulation Consistent with Wind in Terms of Return Period (풍속 재현빈도와 일치하는 해일모의용 표준태풍 생성)

  • Extreme wind speeds at four sites including Mokpo, Gunsan, Incheon and Jeju near the Western Coast have been estimated with a tool of Monte Carlo simulation and typhoon data. Results of sensitivity analysis show that closeness between distance to the eye and the radius to maximum wind is most sensitive. While location angle and pressure deficit are sensitive too, but translation velocity is not. A standard typhoon, which results in extreme wind speeds having various return period, can be constructed by combination of parameter informations of each site. Then, with a numerical modelling of the typhoon, extreme surge heights having the same return period can also be obtained. To be added, by analysing the data which only including those based on navigable semicircle, it is possible to produce a standard typhoon which could result in setting-down of sea level.

  • In Block Matching Algorithm (BMA), a search pattern has a very important affect on the search time and the output quality. In this paper, we propose the HDS( Half Diamond Search) pattern based on the cross center-biased distribution property of a motion vector. At lust, the 4 points in the above, below, left, and right around the search center is calculated to decide the point of the MBD (Minimum Block Distortion). And an above point of the MBD is checked to calculate the SAD. If the SAD is less than the previous MBD, this process is repeated. Otherwise, the left and right points of MBD are calculated to decide the points that have the MBD between two points. These processes are repeated to the predicted direction for motion estimation. Experiments show that the speedup improvement of the proposed algorithm can be up to 23% while maintaining similar image quality.

  • 최근 이상기후로 인해 국내 가뭄피해가 증가하고 있는 추세이며, 미래 가뭄의 심도 및 지속시간은 증가할 것으로 예측되고 있다. 특히 우리나라는 용수공급의 56.5%를 댐에 의존하여 댐 유역의 가뭄은 생 공 농업용수 공급제한 등의 광범위한 피해를 발생시킬 수 있다. 다만 가뭄은 홍수와 달리 진행속도가 비교적 느리기 때문에 사전에 정확한 댐 유입량 예측이 가능하다면, 용수공급량 조정을 통해 피해를 최소화할 수 있다. 국내에서는 댐 유입량 예측에 ESP (Ensemble Streamflow Prediction) 기법을 활용하고 있으며, ESP 기법은 과거 기상자료를 기반으로 미래를 예측하기 때문에 기상자료, 초기수문조건, 매개변수 등에 불확실성을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 베이지안 이론을 이용하여 댐 예측유입량의 정확도 향상기법을 개발하고 예측성을 평가하고자 하며, 강우유출모델은 ABCD를 활용하였다. 대상유역은 국내의 대표 다목적댐인 충주댐 유역을 선정하였으며, 기상자료는 기상청, 국토교통부 및 한국수자원공사의 지점자료를 수집하였다. 예측성 평가기법으로는 도시적 분석방법인 시계열 분석, 통계적 분석방법인 Skill Score (SS)를 활용하였다. 시계열 분석 결과 ESP 댐 예측유입량(ESP)은 매년 월별 전망값의 큰 차이가 없었으며, 다우년 및 과우년의 예측성이 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 베이지안 기반의 댐 예측유입량(BAYES-ESP)는 ESP의 과소모의하는 경향을 보정하였으며, 다우년에 예측성이 향상되었다. 월별 평균 댐 관측유입량과 ESP, BAYES-ESP의 SS 비교분석 결과 ESP는 유입량 값이 적은 1, 2, 3월에 SS가 양의 값을 가졌으며, 이외의 월에는 음의 값으로 나타났다. BAYES-ESP는 ESP와 관측값이 비교적 선형관계를 나타내는 1, 2, 3월에 ESP의 예측성을 개선시키는 것으로 나타났다. ESP 기법은 강수량의 월별, 계절별 변동성이 큰 우리나라에 적용하기에는 예측성의 한계가 있었으며, 이를 개선한 BAYES-ESP 기법은 댐 유입량 예측 연구에 가치가 있는 것으로 판단된다.

  • Large-scale urban concentration of population and vehicles due to economic growth in Korea has been causing serious urban transport problems. Although the collection of congestion pricing has been evaluated as the most effective transportation policy to alleviate traffic demand, its effectiveness is very limited as it was just executed around congested points or along main arterial roads. This study derived dynamic congestion zones with the average travel speed of 206 traffic analysis zones in Busan Metropolitan City to propose a dynamic congestion pricing collection system by employing Space-Time Cube Analysis and Emerging Hot Spot Analysis. As a result, dynamic hot spots were formed from 7h to 24h and particularly, traffic congestion was severely deteriorated from 18h to 20h around Seomyeon and Gwangbok-dong. Therefore, it is expected that the effect of dynamic congestion pricing will be maximized in managing traffic demand in the city center.

Estimation of Extreme Wind Speeds in Korean Peninsula using Typhoon Monte Carlo Simulation (태풍 시뮬레이션을 통한 한반도 극한풍속 추정)

  • The long-span bridges such as Incheon Bridge and Seohae Grand Bridge are located on the coastal region effected frequently by strong wind of typhoons. In order to ensure the wind-resistant performance of the structure, estimation of the proper design wind speed is very important. In this study, stochastic estimation of design wind speed incurred by typhoons is carried out. For this purpose, we first established probability distribution of climatological parameters such as central pressure depth, distance of closest approach, translation speed and heading to build statistical model of typhoons, which are employed in Monte Carlo simulation for hypothetical typhoons. Once a typhoon is generated with statistically justified parameters, wind speeds are estimated along its path using wind field model. Thousands of typhoons are generated and their peak wind speeds are utilized to establish the extreme wind speeds for different return period. The results are compared with design basic wind speeds in Korean Highway Bridge Design Code, showing that the present results agree well with similar studies while the existing code suggests higher design wind speed.
