Spatial distribution patterns of the surficial sediments in the tidal river, Gongneungcheon (공릉천 감조구간에 나타나는 표층퇴적물의 공간적 분포 특성)

  • The objective of this paper is to identify the present-day surficial sediment distribution patterns of the tidal river, Gongneungcheon, through the grain size and statistical analysis. Four major findings of this study are as follows; First, the composition of sediments over the study area are mainly silt in texture. Second, the surficial sediment distribution reveals that grain size becomes coarser as they approach seawards not only in summer but also in winter. It can be concluded that tidal flows play a significant role, especially in winter, in the distribution of surficial sediments in Gongneungcheon. However, samples obtained in summer were relatively small in mean size and showed better sorting compared to those obtained in winter. Third, the mean sizes of the samples on the transects decrease as the distance from the channel increases. Finally, the artificial structure such as a floodgate affects the distribution of the sediments.

  • This was a study on the ultimate effect and characteristics of introducing a roundabout through a review of literature on the subject of roundabout. In order to examine an effect produced when roundabout is substituted for ordinary signal-controlled intersection operated at Daego Five-way Intersection and Seongmo Five-way Intersection located in Junggu, Daejeon Metropolitan City, site to be studied, the produced effect was analyzed through comparison between before and after introducing roundabouts in series at Daego Five-way Intersection and Seongmo Five-way Intersection by using microscopic traffic simulation program VISSIM widely used for analyzing an effect of roundabout based on a survey of geometric structure, traffic volume and signal interval on the site. As mentioned above, when Daego Five-way Intersection and Seongmo Five-way Intersection was changed to roundabout, a positive effect was produced on average speed and delay time in comparison with the existing status. It is possible to expect that roundabout can be more efficiently operated when 2 places on the site are changed to double roundabout than when separately changed to roundabouts.

Construction of Database System on Amylose and Protein Contents Distribution in Rice Germplasm Based on NIRS Data (벼 유전자원의 아밀로스 및 단백질 성분 함량 분포에 관한 자원정보 구축)

  • This study was carried out to build a database system for amylose and protein contents of rice germplasm based on NIRS (Near-Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy) analysis data. The average waxy type amylose contents was 8.7% in landrace, variety and weed type, whereas 10.3% in breeding line. In common rice, the average amylose contents was 22.3% for landrace, 22.7% for variety, 23.6% for weed type and 24.2% for breeding line. Waxy type resources comprised of 5% of the total germplasm collections, whereas low, intermediate and high amylose content resources share 5.5%, 20.5% and 69.0% of total germplasm collections, respectively. The average percent of protein contents was 8.2 for landrace, 8.0 for variety, and 7.9 for weed type and breeding line. The average Variability Index Value was 0.62 in waxy rice, 0.80 in common rice, and 0.51 in protein contents. The accession ratio in arbitrary ranges of landrace was 0.45 in amylose contents ranging from 6.4 to 8.7%, and 0.26 in protein ranging from 7.3 to 8.2%. In the variety, it was 0.32 in amylose ranging from 20.1 to 22.7%, and 0.51 in protein ranging from 6.1 to 8.3%. And also, weed type was 0.67 in amylose ranging from 6.6 to 9.7%, and 0.33 in protein ranging from 7.0 to 7.9%, whereas, in breeding line it was 0.47 in amylose ranging from 10.0 to 12.0%, and 0.26 in protein ranging from 7.0 to 7.9%. These results could be helpful to build database programming system for germplasm management.

  • 다자간 영상통화를 사용할 경우 참여자들의 각기 다른 회의환경과 음성 입력 장치의 사용으로 인해 화자별로 다른 크기의 음량이 발생하게 되어 듣는 화자는 다른 크기의 음량을 청취하면서 불편함을 느끼게 된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 다양한 크기의 음량을 일정한 기준으로 조절하는 음량정규화 방식을 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 화자의 평균음량크기를 추정하는 동안 음량정규화 처리하는 적응구간과, 구해진 평균음량크기를 통해 음량정규화 처리하는 유지구간으로 나누어 처리한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 분절 단위 비교방법에서 참조서명과 비교서명간에 분할점 개수와 위치에 대한 불일치 문제를 개선하기 위해 구간 분할 매칭 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 분할방법은 시간에 대한 x와 y좌표 상에서 서명마다 변하지 않는 특징점을 구간 분할점으로 선택하여 구간별로 매칭시킴으로서 분절의 안정적인 분할을 통해 인식률을 높이고자 한다. 실험 결과에서 진서명과 위조서명을 포함한 기타서명에 대해 FAR이 0.06%일 때 FRR 1.25%의 오류율을 확인하였으며 FAR이 0%일 때의 평균인식율이 98.7%를 보임으로써 제안한 서명 검증 기법이 우수함을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Asymmetric-type Dispersion-managed Link with Optical Phase Conjugation (광 위상 공액이 적용된 비대칭 구조의 분산 제어 링크)

  • The alternative method for symmetric configuration in optical link consisted of dispersion management and optical phase conjugation for compensating of the distorted optical signals due to chromatic dispersion and nonlinear effects of standard single mode fiber is proposed. The symmetric configuration means number of fiber spans, dispersion distribution in former half section and latter half section, etc should be symmetrical about optical phase conjugator. In dispersion-managed proposed in this research, optical phase conjugator is located after former half section consisted of 6 fiber spans and before latter half section of 14 fiber spans, and the averaged residual dispersion per span (RDPS) of each half section are consistence. The compensation effects of the distorted signals in the proposed link is analyzed by comparing with the results obtained in dispersion-managed link with the unequally averaged RDPS of each half section. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that RDPS deviation between adjacent fiber span has a grater effect on the compensation than the equivalent of the averaged RDPS.

  • 산업안전보건법에 따르면 결함수 분석기법(Fault Tree Analysis, FTA)은 주로, 설계 또는 운전단계에 있는 공정 위험성 평가 시 사고의 발생빈도와 예상사고 시나리오를 추정하는데 적용되어왔다. 따라서 일반적인 결함수 분석에서 정상 사상은 시스템 자체의 사용불능을 야기하는 가장 큰 원인을 의미한다. 그러나 상수도의 유지관리를 위해 FTA를 적용한 경우 정상 사상은 일반적인 FTA에서의 정상 사상과는 다르게 정의되어야 한다. 즉, 용수공급의 경우 관망 전체에 영향을 미치는 정상 사상이란 수원지의 오염이나, 수원지에서 직접적으로 나오는 관로에 문제가 생겼다거나 하는 사건을 의미하므로, 이러한 방식의 정상 사건 정의는 관망의 관로 및 절점에서 발생되는 문제를 분석하기 어렵게 만든다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 관망의 특정 지점에 용수공급이 원활하게 되지 않는 경우를 FTA의 정상사상으로 정의하였다. 또한, 개개의 관로 노후도 평가 점수와 FTA를 이용하여 관망의 특정 절점에 용수를 공급하기 위한 관로들의 노후도 평가 평균 점수를 산출하였다. 개발한 프로그램에서는 평균 노후도 평가 점수를 산출하기 위해서, 특정 절점 값을 입력 받고 각 파이프와 그로 인해 생기는 고립구간(세그먼트 + 비의도적 고립구간) 에 포함되는 절점들의 관계를 나타낸 자료를 이용하여 파이프에 문제가 생길 시 단수되는 절점을 역으로 검색해서 각 파이프의 노후도 평가 점수를 산술평균 하였다. 본 연구에서는 특정지점에 용수 공급이 원활하지 못 한 정상사상에 대하여 관로의 수리 또는 교체를 해야 하는 구간을 찾아 노후도 평가 점수를 산정하는 것이 목표이다. 이를 위해 특정 절점에 용수를 공급하기 위하여 지나가는 관로들에 대해서 평균 점수를 구함으로써, 절점에 용수가 원활히 공급 될 가능성을 산정하여 FTA와 관로 노후도 평가 점수를 이용하고 특정 절점에 용수를 공급하기 위하여 지나가는 관로들에 대해서 평균 점수를 산정하였다. 절점에서 용수를 공급하는 중요도에 따라 절점으로 이어지는 관로의 평균 노후도를 일정 점수 이하로 유지시키는 방법을 이용함으로써 관로의 유지관리 필요성에 대해 지표로써 사용할 수 있다.

New Concept of Average River Bed and General Trend of River Bed Change in the Nakdong River (새로운 평균하상 개념과 낙동강의 하상 변동 경향성 분석)

  • River bed change due to various factors in watershed and/or river environment would one of the most important issues in river management. To judge whether the river bed was aggrading or degrading, normally we use the change in thalweg or average bed, calculated using the design flood of the river. The present study is to figure out the problems of the existing methods and to propose a new concept of average river bed using annual maximum flood. To evaluate the new method, it was applied to the Nakdong River. We use the river bed data surveyed in 1983, 1993, and 2005. The results showed that there were no significant river bed change during 1983 and 1993, while the river bed was degraded significantly during 1993 and 2005. In the latter period, the river had severe degradations, 2~3 m in average sense and 5 m for the maximum in the middle reach(120~200 km from river mouth), and 1~2 m in average in the upper reach(200~240 km from river mouth). For the upstream reach of the confluence of the Naesung River(about 240 km from river mouth), most of the river bed change seemed to be only local phenomena. The main cause of the river bed change in the Nakdong River seems to be massive gravel mining in the middle reach of the river.

A Study on Image Binarization using Intensity Information (밝기 정보를 이용한 영상 이진화에 관한 연구)

  • The image binarization is applied frequently as one part of the preprocessing phase for a variety of image processing techniques such as character recognition and image analysis, etc. The performance of binarization algorithms is determined by the selection of threshold value for binarization, and most of the previous binarization algorithms analyze the intensity distribution of the original images by using the histogram and determine the threshold value using the mean value of Intensity or the intensity value corresponding to the valley of the histogram. The previous algorithms could not get the proper threshold value in the case that doesn't show the bimodal characteristic in the intensity histogram or for the case that tries to separate the feature area from the original image. So, this paper proposed the novel algorithm for image binarization, which, first, segments the intensity range of grayscale images to several intervals and calculates mean value of intensity for each interval, and next, repeats the interval integration until getting the final threshold value. The interval integration of two neighborhood intervals calculates the ratio of the distances between mean value and adjacent boundary value of two intervals and determine as the threshold value of the new integrated interval the intensity value that divides the distance between mean values of two intervals according to the ratio. The experiment for performance evaluation of the proposed binarization algorithm showed that the proposed algorithm generates the more effective threshold value than the previous algorithms.

  • In a stratified sample, the sampling frame is divided into non-overlapping groups or strata (e.g. geographical areas, age-groups, and genders). A sample is taken from each stratum, if this sample is a simple random sample it is referred to as stratified random sampling. In this paper, we study the bootstrap inference (including confidence interval) and test for a stratified population mean. We also introduce the bootstrap consistency based on limiting distribution related to the plug-in estimator of the population mean. We suggest three bootstrap confidence intervals such as standard bootstrap method, percentile bootstrap method and studentized bootstrap method. We also suggest a bootstrap test method computing the $ASL_{boot}$(Achieved Significance Level). The results of estimation are verified using simulation.
