Based on the momentum equation for the flow in a stream bend, the force per unit area which the flow exerts on the outer of a bend is directly proportional to a certain curvature coefficient, $C{\alpha}$. This coefficient is dependent on the ratio of bend radius(R) to flow width(W), as well as on the coefficient of dynamic bedload friction, $tan{\alpha}$. According to the results of the data analysis for the downstrream at the Han river, the range of R/w values is between 2.0 and 4.0. Exploring the variations of $C{\alpha}$ with R/w values a functional relationship which, for the known values of $tan{\alpha}$, shows maximum values of $C{\alpha}$ for R/w values between 2.21 and 4.42 in 1963, while in 1981 its values lied between 1.93 and 3.54.

A three dimensional numerical simulation of laminar flow and heat transfer in fully developed curved pipe flow has been performed to study the effects of Dean number and pipe curvature on the flow and temperature fields under the thermal boundary condition of axially uniform wall heat flux. The Reynolds number under consideration ranges from 100 to 4000, and the Prandtl number is 0.71. The curvature ratios are 0.01, 0.025, 0.05 and 0.1. The axial velocity and temperature profiles and the local Nusselt number obtained from the present study are in good agreement with the previous numerical and experimental results currently available. To show the effects of pipe curvature on the flow and heat transfer, the resistance coefficients and heat transfer coefficients are computed and compared with the results of the previous theoretical and experimental studies. The averaged Nusselt number is correlated with Dean and Prandtl numbers. Furthermore, the critical Reynolds number for transition to turbulent flow is observed to depend upon the curvature ratio.
The present study shows the moment-average curvature relationship and effective inertia moment of RC beams obtained from the nonlinear analysis based on the parabola-rectangular stress-strain curve defined in EC-2 code. The variables examined are concrete strength and steel ratio, and moment-average curvature relationship and effective inertia moment obtained are compared with those of the current KCI provisions. As the results of the comparison, the followings could be said: Since the KCI provisions(the Branson method) were originally derived based on the experimental data ranged from 2.2 to 4 of $M/M_{cr}$ and 1.3 to 3.5 of $I_{ut}/I_{cr}$, thereby within these ranges the inertia moments obtained from the nonlinear analysis are closely agreed with those predicted by the Branson method. However, beyond those range the remarkable difference could be found between the two results. In particular, for beams having low steel ratio the inertia moment resulted from the nonlinear analysis are significantly smaller than those obtained from the KCI(Branson) method. This result may imply that the deflection of lightly reinforced members, such as slabs in buildings, becomes much larger than those calculated according to the current design provisions.

This paper discusses the analysis of the curl deformation behavior when a dynamic force is applied to a tearing tube installed on a flat die to predict the energy absorption capacity and deformation behavior. The deformation of the tips of the curling strips was obtained when the curl tips and tube body are in contact with each other, and a formula describing the energy dissipation rate caused by the deformation of the curl tips is proposed. To improve this formula, we focused on the variation of the curl radius and the reduced thickness of the tube. A formula describing the mean curl radius is proposed and verified using the curl radius measurement data of collision test specimens. These improved formulas are added to the theoretical model previously proposed by Huang et al. and verified from the collision test results of a tearing tube.
The object of this study is to propose the Flexural moment-curvature relationship based on the bond property between concrete and steel for noncracking zone, to evaluate the flexural displacement of reinforced concrete member. The bond-slip relationship and the strain hardening effect of steel were taken into consideration in order to evaluate the spacing of the cracks and the curvature distribution. Calculated curvature distribution along the longitudinal axis was transformed into equivalent curvature distribution. The flexural displacement was calculated by means of double integrals of the equivalent curvature. Furthermore, 34 beams were tested in order to verify the proposed procedure Calculated values agreed well with the experimental data, and so it is pointed out that proposed method is widely acceptable for the practical evaluation of flexural displacement of reinforced concrete member.

An experimental study is made in a nearly two-dimensional 90.deg. curved duct to investigate the effects of interaction between streamline curvature and mean strain on turbulence. The initial shear at the entrance to the curved duct is varied by an upstream shear generator to produce five different shear conditions ; a uniform flow (UF), a positive weak shear (PW), a positive strong shear(PS), a negative weak shear (NW) and a negative strong shear(NS). With the mean field data of the case UF, variations of the momentum thickness, the shape factor and the skin friction over the convex(inner) surface and the concave (outer) surface are scrutinized quantitatively in-depth. It is found that, while the pressure loss due to curvature is insensitive to the inlet shear rates, the distributions of wall static pressure along both convex and concave surfaces are much influenced by the inlet shear rates.
The demand for accurate freeform apsheric surface is increasing to satisfy the optical performance. In this paper, we develop the algorithm for opto-mechatronics convergence, that reconstruct the surface 3D profiles from the curvarure data along two orthogonal directions. A synthetic freeform surface with 8.4 m diameter was simulated for the testing. The simulation results show that the reconstruction error is 0.065 nm PV(Peak-to-valley) and 0.013 nm RMS(Root mean square) residual difference. Finally the sensitivity to noise is diagnosed for probe position error, the simulation results proving that the suggested method is robust to position error.

The range image is divided into surface regions which are homogeneous in their intrinsic properties. In this paper, we use cooperative relaxational algorithm between curvatures to escape local minima and choose optimal possibility to reserve edge. Cooperative relaxational algorithm between curvatures is relaxation process in which weights of center pixel;s and neighbor pixel's possiblility are determined adaptively by using deviation of curvatures. Experimental resutls show that the proposed method segments and classifies the range images more accurately compared to the other relational algorithms.

This study is about the experiments and analyses of Adaptive Grid Contouring Method that determines the number of contour points according to the change of curvature. As a result, it is presented that 10~20m grid spacings are suitable for contouring on map scales of 1 : 2, 500 and that the larger the mean slope, the smaller the suitable grid spacing for contouring.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between axial length/corneal radius ratio and refractive error for human eye. Ocular components were measured Baush & Lomb keratometer, Holden-Payor pachometer, and Stoz Compuscan. Refractive error was measured by subjective refraction. The results were as follows; 1) Spherical equivalent refractive error and axial length/corneal radius ratio was very highly correlated with the correlation coefficient for -0.89. 2) Axial length/corneal radius ratio and axial length, vitreous chamber depth were highly correlated that the correlation coefficients were 0.82, 0.80 respectively. 3) Axial length/corneal radius ratio and anterior chamber depth, corneal power, corneal radius, lens power were correlated with the correlation coefficients for 0.57, 0.40, -0.39, -0.35 respectively. 4) There were no significant correlation between axial length/corneal radius ratio and lens thickness, and corneal thickness.
