A Numerical Study on a Supersonic Turbine Performance Characteristics with Different Nozzle-Rotor Axial Gap Spacings (노즐-로터 축간극 거리에 따른 초음속 터빈 내의 성능특성에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • In this study, 3-dimensional URANS simulation was performed to analyze the effect of the nozzle-rotor axial gap spacing of a supersonic impulse turbine on turbine performance. The computations were conducted for four different axial gap cases corresponding to about 6%, 10%, 20% and 30% of the blade height, respectively. The results show a good agreement with previous studies and the turbine efficiency decreases drastically in certain range. It is examined that the turbine performance characteristics could change depending on the influence of leading edge shock to the nozzle outlet. It is also found that the entropy rise distributions along the span differ from each other.

  • 월성원자력4호기가 '99.06.09일 11:53분 경 전출력 소외전원상실시험시 주발전기 병입차단기 및 기동용변압기 차단기의 트립과 동시에 예상 밖의 13.8Kv 원자로 냉각재펌프모터#3(9.000HP)이 순시과전류 보호계전기(50Y) 동작으로 트립되어 이로 인한 냉각재 저유량으로 원자로 제1정지계통이 동작되고 원자로가 비상정지 되어 동 시험이 실패되었음. 이 비정상적인 고장은 예비디젤발전기의 수동 기동 병입과 터빈 수동 정지 및 주발전기 트립후 적절한 조치로 소내전원은 정상적으로 복구되었음. 이에 대해 냉각재펌프모터#3의 순시과전류 동작 원인을 유도전동기의 전원상실 후 발생되는 잔류전압(Residual Voltage)과 공급 모선전압(Bus Voltage) 측면에서 분석하며, 모터의 회전속도, 위상각, 잔류전압크기 변화 및 신속개방 절체시 냉각재펌프모터의 돌입 기동전류를 계산하고, PSS/E 프로그램을 사용한 간략한 모의 사례로 검증하였으며 이에 대한 재발방지를 위한 대책을 제시함.

  • Hydrodynamic performance test of a turbopump for a liquid rocket engine is carried out. The turbopump is composed of an oxidizer pump, a fuel pump and a turbine, and the two pumps are driven by the turbine. In the test, water is used for the pumps as working media and air is used for the turbine. Performance parameters of pumps and a turbine are drawn, and a power balance between the pumps and the turbine are calculated. The calculation shows a good power balance, which implies that the pump component tests, the turbine component test and the assembly test are reliably performed. At the starting period of the test, pressure rise-flow rate curve of a pump gradually approaches the ideal curve which could be obtained by very slow starting.

  • This study fulfilled analysis of startup characteristics of Turbo pump unit-Gas generator open loop test from the viewpoint of simulation. The test results were investigated and the calculated results were compared to test results. The curve for RPM developing predicted by simulation agreed well with test result. The slope of transient combustion pressure of gas generator correspond with test result.

  • The system analysis and design program of the liquid rocket engine has been developed for preliminary conceptual design process. The program consists of modular programs analyzing the main thruster, the gas-generator, turbo-pumps, the turbine, pipes, valves and so on. Each module has been developed in order to estimate performance, weight, and shape parameters of the components. The results of them have been verified with experimental data or other programs.

Modal Analysis and Testing of a High Head Pump/Turbine Runner (고낙차 수력 펌프/터빈 런너에 대한 진동 모드해석 및 실험)

  • This paper describes the vibration characteristics of a high head pump-turbine runner. with nine blades and an outer diameter of 4.410 mm. of the pumped storage power plant. Mode shapes and natural frequencies were obtained by means of both the finite element analysis and modal testing. both in air and in water. The natural frequencies in air were calculated using the finite element method by ANSYS software. In order to confirm calculation results. the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the runner were measured using a hydraulic exciter both in air and in water. Natural frequencies of the pump-turbine runner were found at 174. 310 Hz in air, and at 107. 184 Hz in water. The first mode shape is flat plate mode with two nodal diameter and the second one is also flat plate mode with three nodal diameter. It can be shown that the natural frequencies of the pump-turbine runner in water is reduced approximately 40 % due to additional mass effect. Natural frequencies in air predicted by ANSYS software are in good agreement with test results.
