Optimization of Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser Welding Conditions for Sealing of Lithium-ion Battery (리튬이온전지의 밀봉용접을 위한 펄스 Nd:YAG레이저 용접조건의 최적화)

  • Laser material processing is a very fast growing technology for various industrial applications, because of many advantages. Its major advantage of less and controlled heat input has been exploited successfully for the very critical application of aluminium alloy welding. This study suggested the occurrence source of weld-defects and its solution methods in a welding of lithium ion battery by pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In experiment, battery case has changed over joint geometry from welding of side position to flat one. In case of a electrolyte injection hole in order to seal it, welding is carried out after pressing Al ball. At this time, an eccentric degree, contact length and gap are worked as a major parameters. As improving the method of Al ball pressing, it was able to reduce an eccentricity, increase the contact length and decrease gap. As a results of a experiment, a sound weld bead shape and crack-free weld bead can be obtained.

  • We describe a novel method of scanning probe nanofabrication using a AFM(atomic force microscopy) tip with assistance of Femtosecond laser pulses to enhance fabrication capability. Illumination of the AFM tip with ultra-short light pulses induces a strong electric field between the tip and the metal surface, which allows removing metal atoms from the surface by means of field evaporation. Quantum simulation reveals that the field evaporation is triggered even en air when the induced electric field reaches the level of a few volts per angstrom, which is low enough to avoid unwanted thermal damages on most metal surfaces. For experimental validation, a Ti: sapphire Femtosecond pulse laser with 10 fs pulse duration at 800 nm center wavelength was used with a tip coated with gold to fabricate nanostructures on a thin film gold surface. Experimental results demonstrate that fine structures with critical dimensions less than ${\sim}10nm$ can be successfully made with precise control of the repetition rate of Femtosecond laser pulses.

  • This Paper the practical echo signal synthesis model to predict the target strength and signal shape of a submarine for a valuable tool to active sonar engineer. It is based on UTAHID (Underwater TArget by Highlight Distribution) model which is relocated highlight points along to external hull for aspect angle, and synthesized echo signal by modified grouping highlights to internal scatter cloud. Proposed model is analyzed target strength characteristics on various incident pulse length, and synthesis signal signature, target time spreading loss, echo elongation effect and so on. Thus it can be efficiently used in various real systems related to underwater target echo signal synthesis, that is, active sonar, acoustic countermeasure and surveillance system.

  • A ground hot-firing test (HFT) was conducted to take out the optimal design configurations for the thrust chamber of 70 N-class liquid rocket engine under development. Monopropellant grade (purity: ${\geq}98.5%$) hydrazine was adopted as a propellant for the HFT, and three kinds of thrust chambers having characteristic lengths ($L^*$) of 2.79, 2.95, and 3.13 m were selected for their performance evaluation. It is revealed through the test and evaluation that the increase of the $L^*$ leads to a performance degradation in the test condition specified, and pulse response performance of the development model shows superior characteristics to commercialized hydrazine thrusters.

  • 탄소 재료는 뛰어난 물성에서 다양한 재료로의 응용이 기대되고 있다. 특히, 이종 원소 함유 카본 재료는 전기적 특성과 촉매성의 발현 등 새로운 기능을 카본 재료에 부여할 수 있어서 연료 전지, 에너지 저장, 태양 전지 등에의 응용이 기대되고 있다. 최근, 용액 중의 저온 플라즈마인 솔루션 플라즈마(solution plasma process)를 이용하여 벤젠 용액 등에서 탄소 재료 합성에 성공하였다. 그러나 기존의 연구에서는 솔루션 플라즈마 프로세스를 이용하여 합성한 이종원소 카본은 전도성이 낮아 이종원소의 함유량을 낮추는 고온의 열처리가 필요했다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우수한 물리적 전기적 특성을 갖는 그래핀(graphene)과 같은 이종 원소 카본 나노시트(heteroatom carbon nanosheets)의 합성 및 메커니즘(mechanism)에 대해 검토하였다. 다양한 이종원소를 포함한 유기용매 안에 바이폴라 펄스 전원에 의한 전압을 두 텅스텐 전극 간에 인가하고, 솔루션 플라즈마를 생성하여 이종원소 카본 재료를 합성했다. 플라즈마 생성은 텅스텐 봉을 전극으로 사용하고 전압을 2.0 kV, 펄스 주파수를 200 kHz, 펄스 폭을 $1.0{\mu}s$, 전극 간 거리를 1.5 mm에서 일정하게 유지하며 200 mL 유기용매 중에서 방전시키는 것으로 재료를 합성했다. 플라즈마 방전 후, 필터을 이용하여 흡인 여과한 뒤 $200^{\circ}C$에서 1 시간 동안 건조 시켰다. 건조 후의 이종원소 카본의 물리적 특성을 원소 분석, X선 회절 법(XRD), 저항률 측정, 투과형 전자 현미경(TEM) 및 라만 분광법, 전자 현미경(SEM), X-선광전자분광기(XPS)등을 이용하여 카본의 형상 및 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 다양한 이종원소를 포함한 유기용매 중 2-pyrrolidone을 사용했을 때, 이종 원소 카본 나노시트를 합성하는데 성공하였다. 또한, 이 연구방법을 통해서 솔루션 플라즈마 프로세스를 통한 카본 나노시트 합성의 메커니즘을 규명하였다.

Doppler Profile Extraction to Air-Breathing Targets with PT-Waveform Received Signal and Target Tracking Information on a Ground Radar (지상레이다의 PT-파형 수신신호와 항공기 추적정보를 이용한 항공기 도플러 프로파일 추출)

  • This paper has been shown for the extraction of Doppler signature from the radar signal for an air-breathing targets tracked in the ground radar. For the extractions, a Doppler resolution is confirmed from mathematical modeling of PT(pulse train) waveform. Doppler signatures of air-breathing target are varied to radar aspect angle of engine and are determined from physical parameter of jet engine. To confirm such Doppler signatures, the radar signal reflected from the air-breathing target is obtained by our radar signal storage. After this extraction, radar aspect angle of engine has estimated from tracking information. Relative differences of Doppler signatures to radar aspect angle of engine is verified from these results and Doppler profiles for radar target identification appliance are presented.

Taper Reduction in Micro Electrochemical Milling Using Disk-type Electrode (디스크 전극을 이용한 미세 전해 밀링 가공에서의 테이퍼 형상 방지)

  • In this paper. micro electrochemical machining (ECM) for micro structure fabrications is presented. By applying ultra short pulses. the chemical reaction can be restricted only to the region very close to the electrode. Micro ECM is applied to machining micro structures through electrochemical milling process becasuse it doesn't suffer from tool wear. Using this method. 3D micro structures were machined on stainless steel. It was found that micro machining is possible with good surface quality in the low concentration electrolyte,0.1 M H₂SO₄. In ECM, as the machining depth increases, better flushing of electrolyte is required for sufficient ion supply. Layer-by-layer milling is advantageous in flushing. However, layer-by-layer milling causes taper of structures. To reduce the taper, application of a disk-type electrode was introduced. By electrochemical milling, various 3D micro structures including a hemisphere with 60 ㎛ diameter were fabricated.

  • Design and performance evaluation of $H_2O_2$ monopropellant thrusters to be used at attitude control of space launch vehicles were presented in this paper. Flight model thrusters were designed after two reactors for 100, 250 Newton were conformed at engineering model. Each thruster was evaluated by measurement of characteristic velocity, thrust, specific impulse, and pulse response times.

Characteristics of Die Sinking Electical Discharge Machining for Pulse Duration (펄스지속시간에 따른 형상방전가공 특성)

  • Conductive veramic matrix composite(CMC) workpiece of TiC 33%/Al /sab 2/O /sab 3/ 66% Y /sab 2/ O /sab 3/ was machined by die sinking electrical discharge machining(EDM) according to different pulse duration and suty factor for reverse polarity of electrode. Material removal rate(MRR) was examined by process under various operating conditions. The surface morphology was evaluated by surface roughness values and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) research. The more MRR was obtained according to increase pulse duration and duty factor. Also the maximum surface roughness(Rmax) of EDMed surface was slightly changed with increased pulse duration and duty factor. The SEM photographs of EDMed surface showed wide recast wide recast distribution region of melting materials in purse duration 0.130(ms) than 0.048(ms).

  • In die and mould industry, major material such as cemented carbide is broadly used for increasing the life time and decreasing the cost. It is also required the development for the skills of wire-cut electrical discharge machining(WEDM), but the WEDMed surface was found to be worst due to the attached components of wire. Precision machining method like lapping is necessary for obtaining high quality surface. The lapping compound such as Al2O3 and SiC and cast iron lap can be used for lapping process. The components of Cu and Zn were found WEDMed surface of the specimen. As the result, the low quality of precision was obtained and the heat damage layer of the specimen was occurred. The value of surface hardness was deteriorated, and therefore finish process was required.
