A Parametric Study on Rupture Disc with Radial Slit of Pulse Separation Device (원주방향 슬릿을 가진 파열판의 매개변수 연구)

  • Dual Pulse Rocket Motor is a solid rocket motor with two grains separated by a bulkhead and rupture disc. The elasto-plastic explicit dynamic analysis of rupture disc was conducted by the finite element method. The effect of the slit geometry of rupture disc with radial slit was parametrically analyzed in terms of rupture time and shape. The results can be used to control the rupture pressure by changing the slit geometry of rupture disc.

  • The electromagnetic force induced by an intense electric current pulse, which generates an electromagnetic field around the metal jet originating from a shaped charge, can disperse and scatter the high-speed metal jet. An electric device consisting of an RLC circuit applies an intense electric current pulse that flows in the circuit while the metal jet passes between two electrodes. In this study, the metal jet formation was simulated using the ALE technique in 2-D, and a 3-D finite element model was mapped using 2-D simulation results to induce the electric current directly. The deformed shapes of the metal jet and the electromagnetic force were calculated using a finite element analysis by inducing the electric current directly, and the major parameters of the intense electric current pulse for breaking up the metal jet were examined.

  • Pressure pulsations generated by the blade-tongue interaction induce vibration of the piping systems and the structure connected to pumps, resulting in the severe noise and fatigue fracture. Experiments were made on the natural frequencies of liquid columns in piping systems with a single suction, single stage, centrifugal volute pump. Experimental results show that the natural frequencies of the liquid columns in the pump piping systems depend on the dimensions of the pipes and the impeller shapes, and are not affected substantially by the rate of discharge and the rotating speed of the pump.

  • Copper deposition studies have been actively studied since interests on 3D SiP were increased. The defects inside via can be easily formed due to the current density differences on entrance, bottom and wall of via. So far many different additives and current types were discussed and optimized to obtain void-free copper via filling. In this research acid cupric sulfate plating bath containing additives such as PEG, SPS, JGB, PEI and wave current applied electroplating were examined. The size and shape of grain were influenced by the types of organic additives. The cross section of specimen were analyzed by FESEM. When PEI was added, the denser copper deposits were obtained. Electroplaing time was reduced when 2 step via filling was employed.

  • With the variation of Ag concentration in bath, current density, duty cycle, additive and agitation for electroplating of Sn-Ag solder, the compositions and the morphologies of solder were studied. It was possible to controll Ag content in Sn-Ag solder by varying Ag concentration in bath and current density. The microstructure size of Sn-Ag solder decreased with increasing current density. Duty cycle of pulse electroplating and quantity of additive affected on Ag content of deposit and surface roughness. In this work eutectic Sn-Ag solder bumps with fine pitch of 30 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and height of 15 $\mu\textrm{m}$ was formed successfully. The Ag content of electrodeposited solder was confirmed by EDS and WDS analyses and the surface morphologies was analyzed by SEM and 3D surface analyzer.

Dynamic Pressure Characteristics of Pulse Gun Device for Combustion Stability Rating of Liquid Rocket Engines (액체 로켓엔진 연소 안정성 평가를 위한 압력 교란 장치 특성 연구)

  • For the assessment of combustion stability of a liquid rocket engine, a device called "Pulse Gun" should be developed first, which can induce artificial perturbations that may lead to excitations of pressure oscillations in a combustion chamber. A model chamber has been used for identifying design parameters of a pulse gun that defines its characteristics. Dynamic pressure measurements showed that shock waves generated from pulse guns are axisymmetric around the axis of a pulse gun barrel. Pressure waves perturbed by a pulse gun induce resonant acoustic frequencies of a model chamber. This fact indicates that successful pressure field perturbations of the KSR-III combustion chamber can be performed by a newly developed pulse gun device. A maximum value of dynamic pressure peaks measured at the opposite point against a pulse gun outlet becomes stronger as charge mass of pulse gun powder increases.

  • This paper provides a comparison between finite element analysis results and test data of rupture disc. Rupture disc is safety device of high pressure equipment. Rupture disc of solid rocket motor is a device to control rupture pressure. Rupture discs were made of AISI 316L. By the elastic-plastic analysis, the stress limit of rupture discs were compared to the test results. The results can be used to control the rupture pressure by the change of the disc size.
