Secondary Mineral Formation and Expansion Mechanisms Involved in Concrete Pavement Deterioration (콘크리트 포장 도로의 성능저하에 관련된 이차광물형성과 팽창메카니즘)

  • A significant question is what role does newly-formed expansive mineral growth play in the premature deterioration of concrete. These minerals formed in cement paste as a result of chemical reactions involving cement paste and coarse/fine aggregate. Petrographic observations and SEM/EDAX analysis were conducted in order to determine chemical and mineralogical changes in the aggregate and cement paste of samples taken from lowa concrete highways that showed premature deterioration. Formation and expansive mechanisms involved in deterioration were Investigated. Brucite, Mg(OH)$_2$, is potentially expansive mineral that farms in cement paste of concretes containing reactive dolomite aggregate as a result of partial dedolomitization of the aggregate. No cracking was observed to be spatially associated with brucite, but most brucite was microscopic in size and widely disseminated in the cement paste of less durable concretes. Expansion stresses associated with its growth at innumerable microlocations may be retrieved by cracking at weaker locations in the concrete. Ettringite, 3CaO.Al$_2$O$_3$.3CaSO$_4$.32$H_2O$, completely fills many small voids and occurs as rims lining the margin of larger voids. Microscopic ettringite is common disseminated throughout the paste in many samples. Severe cracking of cement paste causing premature deterioration is often closely associated with ettringite locations, and strongly suggests that ettringite contributed to deterioration. Pyrite, FeS2, is commonly present in coarse/fine aggregates, and its oxidation products is observed in many concrete samples. Pyrite oxidation provides sulfate ions for ettringite formation.

Autogeneous Shrinkage Characteristics of Ultra High Performance Concrete (초고성능 콘크리트의 자기수축 특성)

  • Recently, the use of UHPC made of superplasticizers, silica fume, and steel fibers has been increasing worldwide. Although UHPC has a very high strength as well as an excellent durability performance due to its dense microstructures, earlyage cracks may occur due to the high heat of hydration and autogenous shrinkage caused by low W/B and high unit cement content. The early-age shrinkage cracking of UHPC can be controlled by using the shrinkage reducers and expansive admixtures having autogenous shrinkage compensation effect. In this paper, ultrasonic pulse velocity of UHPC containing shrinkage reducers and expansive agents was measured to predict its stiffness change. Also, the effect of shrinkage reducers and expansive agents on the autogenous shinkage of UHPC was investigated through the shrinkage test of UHPC specimens. Furthermore, the material coefficients of autogenous shrinkage prediction model were determined using the autogenous shrinkage values of UHPC with age. Consequently, the test results showed that, by adding shrinkage reducers and expansive agents, the stiffness of UHPC was rapidly developed at early-ages and the autogenous shrinkage was considerably reduced.

  • 본 연구에서는 축대칭 형태의 음향문제를 해석할 수 있는 경계요소 프로그램을 개발하여 소음기의 투과손실(transmission loss)의 계산에 적용하였다. 우선 단순팽창관 소음기에 대해서는 경계요소법에 의해 투과손실을 구한 후 평면파이론 및 실험으로 구한 값과 비교 평가하였다. 또한, 평면파이론을 적용할 수 없는 경우로서 흡음재를 부착한 팽창관 소음기에 대해서는 경계요소법으로 구한 투과손실을 실험결과와 비교 고찰하였다.

Steady-State Performance Analysis of Air Conditioner with Multi-Indoor Units (복수 실내기를 가지는 에어컨의 정상상태 성능해석)

  • In this study, the cycle performance of an air conditioner with multi-indoor units is analyzed and simulated. The cycle performance could be predicted through the integration of mathematical formulation for these devices. The condenser pressure is obtained by an iteration process to match the mass flow rates of the compressor and the expansion valve and the evaporator pressure is determined by an iteration process, in which the suction super heat is tracing the targeted super heat. The required software was developed by system programming. the software algorithm is extended to predict the cycle performance of an air conditioner system with multi-indoor units, and then the numerical results are compared with experimental results. This mathematical model is validated from the result of experiments conducted on 8.3kW air conditioner. The errors in capacity, electronic power, and COP are found to be within 10% in general.

  • The liquefaction to produce LNG (liquefied natural gas) is the only practical way for mass transportation of natural gas across oceans, which accompanies considerable energy consumption in LNG plants. Power generation is one of the effective utilization ways of LNG cold energy which evolves during the vaporization process of LNG with sea water. In this work, performance analysis of two cold energy generation processes, direct expansion and organic Rankine cycles, were carried out by using Aspen HYSYS simulation. The results show that the performance of the organic Rankine cycle is superior to the direct expansion.

Real-time Segmentation of Black Ice Region in Infrared Road Images

  • In this paper, we proposed a deep learning model based on multi-scale dilated convolution feature fusion for the segmentation of black ice region in road image to send black ice warning to drivers in real time. In the proposed multi-scale dilated convolution feature fusion network, different dilated ratio convolutions are connected in parallel in the encoder blocks, and different dilated ratios are used in different resolution feature maps, and multi-layer feature information are fused together. The multi-scale dilated convolution feature fusion improves the performance by diversifying and expending the receptive field of the network and by preserving detailed space information and enhancing the effectiveness of diated convolutions. The performance of the proposed network model was gradually improved with the increase of the number of dilated convolution branch. The mIoU value of the proposed method is 96.46%, which was higher than the existing networks such as U-Net, FCN, PSPNet, ENet, LinkNet. The parameter was 1,858K, which was 6 times smaller than the existing LinkNet model. From the experimental results of Jetson Nano, the FPS of the proposed method was 3.63, which can realize segmentation of black ice field in real time.

Expansion Valves Characteristics for Development of Control System on Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems (공조.냉동장치의 제어시스템 개발을 위한 팽창밸브 특성)

  • Performance characteristics of a refrigeration systems with various expansion valves and superheat changes were investigated experimentally. Experimental data have been taken utilizing three different devices; a thermostatic expansion valve, a linear type electronic expansion valve and a solenoid type electronic expansion valve. The data taken from tile three types of expansion valves were discussed with the temperature distribution of each zone in the evaporator and the superheat changes of the evaporator outlet In each zone temperature distribution fluctuated larger with the thermostatic expansion valve than with the electronic expansion valves. The optimum superheat ranged from $5^{\circ}C\;to\;15^{\circ}C$, and the superheat with the thermostatic expansion valve showed hunting phenomenon, which affected the evaporating and condensing temperature.

실린더 후부 유동장 모사를 위한 난류 모형 비교

  • 원기둥을 지나는 초음속 유동장은 재순환, 재접합, 유동 박리, 팽창파동이 발생하는 복잡한 유동장이며, 비행체의 성능개선을 위해서 이해되어야 한다. 난류 에너지를 지배하는 방정식에는 압축성 유동장의 경우 압력 팽창항, 팽창 소산항, Favre 속도에 의한 영향 등의 수정항이 첨가되어야 한다는 연구 결과가 나오고 있다 본 연구에서는 밀도변화에 따른 영향이 적은 것으로 알려진 k-$\omega$ 보형에 압축성에 대한 수정항을 첨가하여 유동장을 모사하여 비교하였다. 수정항의 첨가로 인하여 나온 결과를 얻을 것으로 예측되었으나 k-$\omega$ 모형에 수정을 가한 경우 수정하지 않을 경우에 비해 좋지 않은 예측을 하는 결과가 나왔다. 이는 압축성 난류 유동을 위한 수정항의 사용이 기지부 근처의 유동을 모사하기에는 부적합함을 보이며, 압축성 난류 유동에 대해서 보다 근본적인 이해가 필요함을 보여주고 있다

  • It is unavoidable for concrete in a structure to crack due to drying shrinkage. Using an expansion admixture can reduce an initial shrinkage crack and improve a prestress. Therefore, this paper presents the results of a study performed to evaluate this deformation and obtain a better understanding of the behavior of SHCC using an expansion admixture. To evaluate a performance of SHCC using an expansion admixture, was tested a drying shrinkage, compressive strength.
