Automatic Color Palette Extraction for Paintings Using Color Grouping and Clustering (색상 그룹핑과 클러스터링을 이용한 회화 작품의 자동 팔레트 추출)

  • A computational color palette extraction model is introduced to describe paint brush objectively and efficiently. In this model, a color palette is defined as a minimum set of colors in which a painting can be displayed within error allowance and extracted by the two step processing of color grouping and major color extraction. The color grouping controls the resolution of colors adaptively and produces a basic color set of given painting images. The final palette is obtained from the basic color set by applying weighted k-means clustering algorithm. The extracted palettes from several famous painters are displayed in a 3-D color space to show the distinctive palette styles using RGB and CIE LAB color models individually. And the two experiments of painter classification and color transform of photographic image has been done to check the performance of the proposed method. The results shows the possibility that the proposed palette model can be a computational color analysis metric to describe the paint brush, and can be a color transform tool for computer graphics.

  • 본 연구는 여러 분야에서 언급되어지고 있는 인테리어트렌드를 조사 정리하고, 각 트렌드의 특성을 비교 분석하여 이들을 대표할 수 있는 키워드를 순수, 자연, 혼성의 3개로 추출하였다. 이를 중심으로 2008년 인테리어트렌드를 분류하고, 각 트렌드를 표현하는 색채를 조사하고 재정리하여 3개의 키워드를 대표할 수 있는 색채를 팔레트로 작성하였다. 작성된 색채 팔레트는 거주자들이 개성에 맞는 실내공간을 디자인하는데 효과적으로 활용될 것이며 디자이너와의 상호이해도 높일 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

  • The Purpose of this study is to develop color palettes for the campus environment to find an identity of various Universities in Korea. This research is focused on the Shin-chon campus of Yonsei University because it has a long history and a mixture of old and new modern buildings in the campus. It takes three steps to proceed this study. Firstly, it is needed to find the images and history of Yonsei University from the documents. In the second place, the colors should be collected from the building materials, four seasons in campus, buildings in campus. At this point, color measurement devices, NCS color system, digital camera and other appropriate devices were used for the study. The third step shows the results of the analysis and development of color palettes based on the analyzed materials from second step. This research suggests three major color groups. The typical main colors of the campus building are YR/anchromatic with middle level of value and chroma from the analysis. The sub-colors are similar to the main colors with pale/light grayish/dull/deep tone. The color palettes out of the results could be used as a standard for campus color scheme in the future to build an identity of Yonsei University.

  • The CMYK is the mathematical color model and the Musell system is an intuitive color model. CMYK color model needs to be proposed in the information age. These two models need to be integrated for convenience of color design. This paper deals with CMRK values, which have appeared in interior design, in association with the Munsell code. Firstly, color samples have been extracted from the cases of interior design. Secondly, the CMRK values of the color sample and the Munsell code have been found. Thirdly, relationship between the CMRK values has been formularized in comparison with the Whelan's color pallette by using the regression method. This paper concludes by proposing the formular which can be used to develope color palette in further research.

  • 이 논문은 에나멜 전선의 제조공정의 자동화에 있어서 핵심역할을 하는 보빈의 자동인식을 위한 머신 비젼 시스템에 관한 것이다. 이 시스템의 역할은 컨베이어 라인의 팔레트 위에 놓인 보빈들의 영상을 CCD 카메라로 취득, 분석하여 보빈 형태, 색상, 제조공정번호 등의 다양한 정보를 추출하여, 전체 생산공정을 제어하는 주 컴퓨터로 보내는 일을 수행한다. 이 비젼 시스템은 개발된 후 에나멜 전선 생산공장에 설치되어 일정 시험기간을 거쳐 현재 성공적으로 운영되고 있다.

A Study on the Color Image of Baby's Wear Brands (유아복 브랜드 색채 이미지 연구)

  • Today the importance of color image is increasing for the brands as well as the products. This study was performed to classily the color image of baby's wear brands and to suggest how the color is effectively planned for the image. In order to classify the color image of 7 baby's wear brands, color palettes of 7 brands were also made by 6 subgroups, each season(summer, fall) by gender(boy, girl, new-born) and based on manufactured garments which were collected by on-line shops. Questionaries were organized with 40 pieces of the color palettes prints for 6 subgroups by 7 brands and 20 baby's wear image adjectives. The total 320 copies were used in the survey to students majored in fashion design. Questionaries were analyzed by factor analysis from SPSS 12.0 package program. There are 4 main factors for the color images of baby's wear brands, 'liveliness', 'loveliness', 'chic', 'neatness'. Not hue, but tone is more important to express the characteristics of color images of baby's wear brands. Also white and black are importantly used for baby's wear. The consistency of the brand color image across gender and season is very important to identify and strengthen the color image of brand.

  • 본 연구는 실제 현장에서 적용할 수 있는 보다 구체적인 감성 데이터를 제공하기 위한 시도로서, 메이크업의 주요한 색채특성을 평가변인으로 하여 칼라 시뮬레이션 실험 및 분석을 실시하여, 최종적으로 색채감성 분석기법에 의한 이미지 유형별 예측모델을 작성하였다. 그 결과, $\ulcorner$품위있는.귀족적인$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$깔끔한.여성스러운$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$강렬한.도발적인$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$캐주얼한.경쾌한$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$수수한.부드러운$\lrcorner$의 5가지 이미지유형이 추출되었고, 이미지유형별로 이미지와 색채특성간의 정량적 예측모델을 작성한 후, 그 결과를 토대로 이미지유형별 색채팔레트를 제시하였다.

CNN-ViT Hybrid Aesthetic Evaluation Model Based on Quantification of Cognitive Features in Images (이미지의 인지적 특징 정량화를 통한 CNN-ViT 하이브리드 미학 평가 모델)

  • This paper proposes a CNN-ViT hybrid model that automatically evaluates the aesthetic quality of images by combining local and global features. In this approach, CNN is used to extract local features such as color and object placement, while ViT is employed to analyze the aesthetic value of the image by reflecting global features. Color composition is derived by extracting the primary colors from the input image, creating a color palette, and then passing it through the CNN. The Rule of Thirds is quantified by calculating how closely objects in the image are positioned near the thirds intersection points. These values provide the model with critical information about the color balance and spatial harmony of the image. The model then analyzes the relationship between these factors to predict scores that align closely with human judgment. Experimental results on the AADB image database show that the proposed model achieved a Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient (SRCC) of 0.716, indicating more consistent rank predictions, and a Pearson Correlation Coefficient (LCC) of 0.72, which is 2~4% higher than existing models.

  • The development of multimedia devices with built-in cameras such as smart devices and various studies using video-related multimedia data such as images and video obtained from the devices have been actively conducted. These studies deal with image data. An image can be defined as a set of color information obtained from a digital sensor called a pixel. Images contain various cognitive information such as color, lighting, objects and so on. In order to extract or process such information, it is necessary to clearly understand the composition of colors. In this paper, we introduce 3-dimensional information visualization method which can effectively express the results of image processing together with color distribution. This study visualizes the characteristics of image related multimedia data as well as the characteristics of various analytical data derived from it, so that researchers can transmit the image information more clearly and effectively.
