  • There are many restrictions with a rock breaking method by using explosives in the urban area due to such safety problems as vibration, noise, and flying rock. Therefore, the use of FINECKER Plus which is mainly used as a rock breaking method (Ministry of Construction and Transportation, 2003) is gradually increasing. Accordingly, construction cases applying FINECKER Plus to the construction sites in the urban area was introduced in case studies. In addition, a comparative test on the same volume of charge applied to 360g of 1 new product 1 set and 180g of the existing FlNECKER Plus 2 sets was conducted. As a result of the test, the two cases were equivalent in breaking efficiency and the level of noise and vibration, and as for the method, the working time decreased by 32%, thus, it was proven to be excellent in terms of construction.

  • Explosive blasting, hydaulic power unit and rock splitter are typically utilized for rockmass breakage and cutting in reconstruction of building structures and other construction site. Hydraulic rock cutting method, that can be utilized any weather conditions, has been applied mainly by experience for controling damages caused by vibration, noise and rock cuttings, and reducing damage claim by protecting adjacent structures. However, it is required to understand the characteristics of rockmass to improve operation efficiency. Although every cutting method has its own advantage, but it should be applied by considering site circumstance and rockmass properties in details to maximize the operation efficiency and economic feasibility.

  • This study was carried out to establish the optimum condition for cell disruption with a sonificator in the detection of the gram negative bacteria, E. coli for the purpose of developing automatic fluorometer. The efficiency of sonification on the E. coli disruption was greatly dependent on the diameter of sonificator probe tip. The larger sonificator probe diameter showed greater disruption effect. Sonificator probe of 13 mm diameter was the most efficient one for E. coli when sonificated for 20 seconds. The efficiency of the E. coli disruption differed greatly according to the depth of sonificator probe tip sank in the sample solution. The shorter the distance between probe tip end and the bottom of the container, the higher the disruption efficiency. The detection limit of E. coli was $5{\times}10^5CFU/m{\ell}$ when sample was sonificated for 20 seconds with a sonificator probe of 13 mm diameter.

  • To speed up the extract of endoparasitic nematodes from roots, four extraction methods with or without root-grinding were compared; 1) immersion, 2) immersion + Air, 3) Oostenbrink dish, and 4) Mistifier. The experiments were conducted for nine days by using perilla roots infested with Pratylenchus vulnus. Root-lesion nematodes continuously extracted from perilla roots during the experiments and as much as 3-10% in 9th days. The total number of nematodes extracted from 2 g of perilla root in nine days were varied among methods (379-1,824 nematodes); the most nematodes were extracted by root grinding + immersion + air (1,824) and the root-grinding + mistifier method (1,349) (p = 0.05). In the first two days of extraction, root-grinding + mistifier extracted the most nematodes (725 nematodes), followed by root-grinding + immersion + Air (555 nematodes), and root-grinding + Oostenbrink dish (421 nematodes). Root-grinding effected as much as 16-108% more nematodes extraction when compared to without root-grinding (p = 0.01).

  • The shale gas is emerging as one of the oil and gas resources which can replace the traditional oil and gas resources. As the shale layer where the shale gas is deposited has low permeability, the hydrofracturing method is required to improve the productivity. This study is designed to conduct the laboratory hydrofracturing test on the samples which are modeled after the drilling hole having the general drilling hole and spiral groove. And compare the initial fracturing pressure and fluid contact between them in order to the result of the hydrofracturing depending on the shape of the drilling hole. In addition, the results were compared with the numerical modeling values from 3DEC and they were also compared with the data from the advance researches. It was found from the study that rather than the contact area of the high pressures water, the force concentration depending on the form of guide hole was more effective in the hydrofracturing.

  • The effects of subsoiling on improving soil physical properties for increasing yield of rice were studied at different depths and spacings in a clay loam paddy soils. The results are summarized as follows : 1. Working efficiencies of subsoiling at depth 50cm were lower than those at depth 30cm by tractor, while subsoiling ratios at depth 50cm were higher than those at depth 30cm. 2. During cultivation period, water requirement in 50cm depth subsoiling was higher than that in 30cm depth subsoiling. Water requirement in the central part was more rapid about 1.0-2.0mm/day than in the middle between two neighbouring central points. 3. Soil physical properties such as hardness, bulk density and porosity were significantly improved by subsoiling and the subsoiling effects have been continued until the second year. Negative correlations between yield and bulk density or hardness of subsoil were observed. 4. A lograrithmic function was observed between rice yield ($\hat{Y}$) and subsoiling ratio(X) at depth of 20cm. The optimum space for subsoiling in 30 and 50cm depth. was 80 and 120cm, respectively.

  • In this paper, the relation between the vibration and the sound radiated due to the piezoelectric ESWL (Extra-corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripter) is examined And the relation between the focus and the vibration of the objects is examined. The same experiments with the objects that can be breton are done and the relation between the vibration and the break efficiency of the phantom is experimentally investigated. These results show that the relativity between the power of the peak frequency and the break efficiency can be confirmed.

  • The most energy-intensive processes in lipids extraction were the disruption of the cell wall of microalgae. Here, we tried to extract lipids through lysis using virus-infecting microalgae, to compare with those by the other two methods using microwave or ultrasonication. The lipids yield using viral infection was not significantly different from those using ultrasonication and microwave oven. This suggests that the same amount of lipids can be obtained with low energy and costs, as well as that microalgal lipids extraction by chlorella virus infection might provide the price competitiveness in biodiesel production even if it will be applied to mass production facilities.

  • There are many slopes generally developed by excavation and cut slope with small steps on massive slopes of roads. Especially these cut slopes which excavating around fault fracture zone need a reinforcement technology in order to ensure safety. In the case of slope excavation, it is difficult to use the existing slope support at fracture zone because of geological characteristics. Especially the factor of safety decreases significantly due to the movement of blocks in bed rocks and the expansion of interspace of discontinuous planes in fractured zones caused by excavation. Thus an efficient reinforcement technique in accordance with geological properties of fracture zones needs to be developed because the existing slope support has a restricted application. Therefore it is necessary to develop the specialized rock bolt technique in order to ensure an efficient factor of safety for anomalous fracture zones in slopes and tunnels. The purpose of this study is to develop newly improved rock bolt to increase a supporting effect of the swellex bolt method used recently as a friction type in fracture zones.
