A Numerical Algorithm for Evaluating Progression Efficiency along Coordinated Arterials Using Shock Wave Theory (충격파이론을 응용한 간선도로 신호연동화의 효율 평가를 위한 알고리즘의 개발)

  • A computer algorithm is presented that evaluate the performance of coordinated signal timing plans for the signalized arterials. The procedures calculating delay and stops are based on Michalopoulos's analytical model derived from shock wave theory. The delay-offset relationship predicted from the algorithm produced consistent results with the delays venerated by TRANSYT-7F. From performance test, the delays estimated using the proposed a1gorithm are shown to be sensitive to the quality of progression as well as to traffic demand, link length, and turning flow ratio from upstream signal.

  • 램제트는 다른 여러 추진시스템에 비하여 획기적으로 증가된 사거리를 가지므로 가용범위의 확대는 물론, 목표물 타격 시 높은 명중률과 낮은 격추율을 가지는 효과적인 추진 시스템이다. 램제트 엔진을 장착한 미사일로는 프랑스의 Griffon, ASMP, 미국의 Bomarc, Talos, 영국의 Bloodhound, Sea dart, 소련의 SA4, SA6 등을 비롯하여 많은 종류가 개발되어 실전 배치되었다. 근래 들어 램제트는 군사전략과 전술적인 목적 이외에도 민간용으로도 그 실용성이 강조되고 있어 그 중요성은 날로 더할 것으로 예측된다. 램제트는 일반적인 공기흡입식 엔진과는 달리 엔진 내부에 기계적으로 구동되는 부분이 없이 충격파를 통과하면서 공기의 압력이 높아지는 현상인 램압축 현상을 이용하여 공기를 압축하게 되므로 엔진의 구조가 간단하고, 상대적으로 높은 비추력과 추력/중량비를 가진다. 램제트는 정지 상태에서는 작동되지 않으며 사용 가능한 최소의 압력비를 줄 수 있는 비행 마하수에 도달해야 램제트가 작동하게 된다. 따라서 이러한 비행속도를 줄 수 있는 별도의 추진장치가 필요하게 되는데 이와 같은 보조 추진장치로 부스터를 사용한다. 부스터가 엔진의 내부에 장착된 램제트를 일제형 램제트 (IRR: integral Rocket Ramjet)라 부르며, 현대의 전략미사일과 민간용 초음속 항공기의 엔진에 도입되어 활발한 연구가 진행 중이다. 램압력을 이용하여 압축하므로 램제트의 설계시 설계점 비행 속도에서 전압력 손실이 최소가 되도록 설계되어야 하며, 이를 실험이나 수치해석을 통해 확인하여야 한다.

  • Korea Aerospace Research Institute has been designed and manufactured various thurst nozzles of the scramjet engine for optimized configuration. The test campaign for thurst nozzle characteristics was performed at T4 free-piston shock tunnel in University of Queensland, Australia. Total 8 kinds of thrust nozzles and 2 kinds of side walls were manufactured for this campaign. In this paper, the design and specification of thrust nozzles was reported. Based on the static pressure distribution of the engine and pitot pressure distributions at nozzle exit, The positive net thurst was observed with baseline case of the test campaign.

  • In this study, one type of ramjet intake were designed for the flight condition of Mach number 4 and numerical analysis was performed. In order to widen the flight envelope range (Mach number $2{\sim}6$), movable intake concept was applied. The central body was designed so that the capture area ratio which is one of most important factors of ramjet intake design could be adjusted. And various types of cowl and movable insert part of shell were designed in order to control throat area which could increase total pressure recovery. The numerical results showed that the designed ramjet intake could be applied in various flights Mach number.

Wave force Acting on the Artificial Rock installed on a Submerged Breakwater in a Regular Wave field (잠제상에 설치된 표식암(의암)에 작용하는 규칙파파력의 실험적 연구)

  • Recently, artificial rocks, instead of buoys, have been placed on the submerged breakwater to indicate its location. The accurate estimation of wave forces on these rocks is deemed necessary for their stability design. Characteristics of the wave force, however, are expected . to be very complicated because of the occurrence of breaking or post-breaking waves. In this regard, wave forces exerted on an artificial rock have been investigated in this paper. The maximum wave force has been found to strongly dependent on the location and shape of the artificial rock that is placed on the submerged breakwater. The plunging breaker occurs near the loading cram edge of a submerged breakwater, which cause impulsive breaking wave force on the rock. Using the Morison equation, with the velocity and acceleration at the front face of the artificial rock and varying water surface level, it is possible to estimate wave forces, even impulsive breaking wave forces, that are acting on the rock installed on a submerged breakwater. The vertical wave force is also found to depend, significantly, on the buoyant force.

  • The purpose of the development of KC-1 LNG cargo containment system is reduction in royalty and increase in competitiveness of shipbuilding industry. An assessment of structure safety for LNG cargo containment system under sloshing load due to ship motion has become an important design element. The ideal way is to implement fully interaction of the fluid domain and the cargo containment system. However the irregular sloshing pressure were idealized in the form of a triangular wave for safety assessment because the fluid- structure interaction analysis is taken the extensive computation time and difficult to ensure the accuracy of the results. In this study, the sloshing load was assumed to be a triangular wave with a maximum pressure of 10 bar during 15/1000 seconds. In the analytic results, the basic insulation panel of KC-1 LNG cargo containment system was assessed to be structurally safe for sloshing load.

  • Investigations into cavity flows have been conducted for decades now, most of them being about zero-pressure-gradient flows entering a cavity on a straight wall. However, the flow over curved walls in real-life situations has not been fully investigated. As cavity flows on curved walls exert centrifugal force, these walls are likely to possess different features from straight walls. To verify this possibility, this study investigated cavity flows on curved walls. Using numerical method, the effect of two variables, namely, radius of curvature on a curved wall and inlet Mach number, were investigated for subsonic and supersonic cavity flows. The result demonstrates that the value of the peak pressure generated inside the cavity increases with the decrease in the radius of curvature on a curved wall or an increase in the inlet Mach number. The total pressure loss in the cavity also results in an increase in the cavity drag.

동반은하의 기조력에 영향을 받는 NGC5929

  • NGC5929는 북동방향으로 0.5' 떨어진 NGC5930의 기조력 영향을 받는 활동성은하이다. 우리는 NGC5930이 NGC5929와의 상호작용에 따라 NGC5929의 활동성을 어떻게 유발하는지 수치실험을 알아보고자 한다. NGC5929의 적경, 적위는 (15h 26m, $41^{\circ}$40')이고, 크기는 $1'.14{\times}$ 0'.89이다. 지구로부터 거리는 36.5Mpc(적색편이는 $0.00836{\pm}0.00007km/s$)이다. 관측 자료에서 보인 NGC5929는 원반 모양의 은하 오른쪽 위쪽의 가스는 접근성, 왼쪽 아래 부분은 멀어지는 운동학적 특성이 보인다. 호스트 은하 원반이 기울어져 장축 방향이 $PA=85^{\circ}$, 단축이 $PA=45^{\circ}$ 은하의 구조임을 알 수 있다. 이 연구를 위해 우리는 하와이 CFHT 3.6m의 OASIS로 관측한 NGC5929의 중심부를 MR1, MR2로 관측한 영상을 참고하여, 이 영상에서 보이는 활동성 즉, 15*12 arcsec의 OASIS field 영역의 관측 자료에 나타난 $H{\beta}$영상이나, [O III]에 나타난 제트 형태와 방출방향에 대해 조사하였다. CFHT OASIS의 분석으로 우리는 continuum, [O III], $H{\beta}$ 선을 통한 영상을 조사하였고, 특히 [O III]영상에서 에서 강한 활동은하의 성격이 보인다. 이 방출선의 특성이 별의 UV, 행성상 성운 주변, 블랙홀 주위, 충격파 중 어느 영향이 가장 강한지 조사하였고, [O III]이미지에서 보인 제트의 형성조건에 동반은하 NGC5930의 영향이 어떠한 역할을 하였는지 조사하고, $H{\beta}$영상에 나타난 starburs지역도 살펴보고자 한다. 우리는 관측 자료에서 보인 활동성의 근원을 알기 위해 Gadget, Magalie를 사용하여 두 은하의 운동학적 및 은하의 구조에 대해 조사하려고 한다.

Numerical Study on Thrust Characteristics of an External Pintle Thruster (노즐 목 외부형 핀틀추력기의 추력특성에 대한 수치해석 연구)

  • Numerical computations were performed to investigate the effects of pintle stroke, altitude, and bore on the performance of an external pintle thruster. Results show that under-expansion flow occurs always, independent of pintle stroke. An external pintle thruster shows good performance in that it is capable of good amount of thrust control, while aerodynamic loads are increased due to shock waves on the pintle support. When altitude is increased to 20 km, the nozzle exit velocity, Mach number, thrust as well as aerodynamic loads are increased. Bore increases aerodynamic load 5.9%, and therefore pintle shape without bore is preferred for lower aerodynamic load of a pintle in order to actuate the pintle.

  • Most of the guided weapons have been kept and transferred at the launching tube and fired in case of necessity in these day. Launching tube is a kind of case to protect the guided weapons from external environments and conducted as a guide when they are fired. When we attached the guided weapons to launching tube we usually has used explosive bolt. Explosive bolts have been used explosives when they had to be separated. But when they are separated there are some bad effects; a flame, fragments and pyre-shock. Because of these bad effects there are many restriction to use bolt as joining devices to precision guided weapons. To solve these problems we invented ball type bolt. Unlike explosive bolt, ball type bolt is separated without a flame, fragments and pyre-shock. And it also has a good mechanical properties as much as those of explosive bolt.
