Contention Window Tuning Scheme for Providing Differentiated QoS in Wireless LANs (무선 랜에서 차별화된 서비스 품질 제공을 위한 경쟁윈도우 설정 방법)

  • IEEE 802.11e EDCA(Enhanced Distributed Channel Access)는 4개의 AC(Access Category)를 이용하여 트래픽에 따른 우선순위를 부여하고 QoS(Quality of Service)를 제공하기 위해 표준화되었다. EDCA는 이진 백오프 알고리즘을 갖는 CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) 방법을 이용한다. EDCA에서 패킷 전송에 실패할 경우 경쟁 윈도우 값은 두 배씩 증가 되고, 성공할 경우에는 최소 경쟁 윈도우 값으로 초기화된다. 따라서 경쟁 윈도우 값이 최적의 값을 유지하지 못해 많은 패킷 충돌을 야기하여 네트워크 성능을 감소시킨다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 기존에 제안된 논문에서는 패킷 전송 성공 후 경쟁 윈도우 값을 최소 경쟁 윈도우 값이 아닌 채널 혼잡 정도에 따라 계산된 값으로 설정한다. 그러나 이 방법은 트래픽 종류와 상관없이 같은 방법으로 동작하기 때문에 트래픽 종류에 따른 차별적 QoS를 보장하지 않는다. 또한 계산된 경쟁 윈도우 값은 현재 값에 비해 상대적으로 낮은 값을 갖기 때문에 여전히 높은 충돌율을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 새로운 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 네트워크의 혼잡 정도를 잘 반영하기 위한 새로운 경쟁 윈도우 계산 알고리즘을 제시한다. 또한 제안된 알고리즘은 트래픽 종류에 따른 QoS 보장을 위해 트래픽 종류에 따른 차별화 파라미터를 이용한다.

  • 측정불확도란 시험결과에 대하여 측정량을 합리적으로 추정한 값들의 분산 특성을 나타내는 파라미터(parameter)로써 ILAC(국제시험소인정협력체) 등의 국제기구와의 측정결과에 대한상호인정 및 신뢰성 확보에 필수적인 요소이다. 국제표준(ISO/IEC 17025)에 맞는 시험분석 결과의 도출을 위해서는 먼저 소급성을 유지하고 그에 따른 불확도를 산출하여야 한다. 소급성은 실험의 모든 과정에 불확도를 가지고 끊기지 않는 비교연결을 통한 국제(국가)표준과 연관시키는 시스템으로, sampling에서 측정결과의 도출까지 소급성을 유지하는 것만이 측정결과의 신뢰성(정확 및 정밀)을 유지하는 최상의 시스템이다. Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurements(GUM)에 의한 불확도 계산 절차는 측정량(measurand)의 함수 표현, 입력량의 표준불확도(standard uncertainty)의 계산(표준편차, 평균의 표준편차), 합성표준불확도(combined uncertainty)의 계산, 확장불확도(expanded uncertainty)의 계산을 통한 통계적 추정을 하는 것이다. 오렌지 쥬스 중 카드뮴을 분석함에 있어서, 실험실에 대해서는 국제표준화(ISO17025) 시스템을 도입하고 분석시약 및 기기에 대하여 소급성을 유지하여, 분석결과의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위한 측정불확도를 산출하였다.

Implementation and Standardization of an IPTV Terminal Provisioning Procedure (IPTV 단말 프로비저닝 절차의 구현과 표준화에 관한 연구)

  • To boost the IPTV industry, it has being considered to provide terminal portability from one service provider to another for users. If the terminal portability is guaranteed, then a service user can purchase an IPTV terminal in a market and select an IPTV service provider. For this, the IPTV terminal should process a series of pre-configuration, so called provisioning procedure. Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) established the standard of IPTV terminal provisioning procedure, TTAK.KO-08.0026. In this paper, we explain the revised standard TTAK.KO-08.0026/R2, and introduce the architecture, functions, operating procedures and parameters of the IPTV terminal provisioning system that we implemented based on it. Finally, we discuss the future issues of the standard of the IPTV terminal provisioning procedure.

Establishment of New Single Origin Plane Rectangular Coordinate System in Korea (한국의 새로운 단일원점 평면직각좌표계 설정)

  • As a worldwide trend, the spatial information that is established by country, institution and purpose is integrated into the data with a single spatial reference to improve the data connectivity and usability. In this study, a new national single origin plane rectangular coordinate system was studied to efficiently respond to the changes in the spatial reference according to the introduction of a new national geodetic standard and to the demand of seamless data service in the spatial information sector. For this purpose, the Korean Peninsula was set as the projection region and the projection distortion in the projection region was analyzed. The projection parameters were defined to homogenize and minimize the projection distortion, and their standardization and registration on the international organizations were conducted. The study on the required optimal projection equation resulted in the Hooijberg projection equation and projection parameters (${\Phi}$, ${\lambda}$, K, N, E) resulted in $38^{\circ}N$ and $128^{\circ}E$ projection origin, and a scale factor of 0.99924. The proper false northing and easting were 700,000m N and 400,000m E, respectively, considering the introduction of country station index system.

  • Recent developments in computer graphics technology and image processing technology have increased interest in point cloud technology for inputting real space and object information as three-dimensional data. In particular, point cloud technology can accurately provide spatial information, and has attracted a great deal of interest in the field of autonomous vehicles and AR (Augmented Reality)/VR (Virtual Reality). However, in order to provide users with 3D point cloud contents that require more data than conventional 2D images, various technology developments are required. In order to solve these problems, an international standardization organization, MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group), is in the process of discussing efficient compression and transmission schemes. In this paper, we provide a region division transfer method of 3D point cloud content through extension of existing MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP)-SRD (Spatial Relationship Description) technology, quality parameters are further defined in the signaling message so that the quality parameters can be selectively determined according to the user's request. We also design a verification platform for ROUTE (Real Time Object Delivery Over Unidirectional Transport)/DASH based heterogeneous network environment and use the results to validate the proposed technology.

Evaluation of Mechanical Performance Considering Prolonged Length of Glass Fiber-Reinforced Composite on Structure Weakness by Thermal Stress at Secondary Barrier in Cryogenic Liquified Gas Storage (극저온 액화가스 화물창 2차방벽 구조 열 응력 취약 부 Prolonged 길이 고려 유리섬유 강화 복합재 기계적 물성 평가)

  • A secondary barrier made of glass fiber reinforced composites has been installed infinitely using automatic bonding machine(ABM) in membrane type LNG cargo containment system (CCS). At the same time, significant thermal stress due to cryogenic heat shrinkage has occurred in the composite on the non-bonding area between the adhesive fixation at both ends. There have been studies from the perspective of structural safety evaluation taking this into account, but none that have analyzed mechanical property taking an prolonged length into account. In this study, 2-parameter Weibull distribution statistical analysis was used to standardize reliable mechanical property for actual length, taking into account the composite's brittle fracture of ceramic material with wide fracture strength dispersion. Related experimental data were obtained by performing uniaxial tensile tests at specific temperatures below cryogenic condition considering LNG environment. As a result, the mechanical strength increased about 1.5 times compared to -20℃ at -70℃ and initial non-linear behavior of fiber stretched was suppressed. As the temperature decreased until the cryogenic, the mechanical strength continued to increase due to cold brittleness. The suggested mechanical property in this study would be employed to secure reliable analysis support material property when assessing the safety of secondary barrier's structures.

Determination of Ozone Tolerance on Environmental Tree Species Using Standard Index (표준화 지수를 이용한 환경수목의 오존 내성 결정)

  • Ozone tolerance of tree species was determined by standard index of physiological damages and biochemical defense responses under short-term ozone exposure. At the end of 150ppb $O_3$ fumigation, photosynthetic characteristics and antioxidative enzyme activities were analyzed in the leaves of five species(Koelreuteria paniculata, Firmiana simplex, Styrax japonica, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, Viburnum sargentii). Injury index was determined by the effect of ozone on photosynthetic parameters and malondialdehyde(MDA) content, and tolerance index was calculated using the rate of increase in superoxide dismutase(SOD), ascorbate-peroxidase(APX), glutathione reductase(GR) and catalase(CAT) activities. Apparent quantum yield(AQY), carboxylation efficiency(Ce) and photo-respiration rate(PR) decreased in the leaves of five species with increasing ozone exposure time. These parameters were considered as an appropriate indicator for stress evaluation. Antioxidative enzyme activities showed various results depending on the tree species, exposure time, and enzyme types. SOD activity of K. paniculata increased with ozone exposure time, and that of F. rhynchophylla increased only after 6 hours of ozone exposure. CAT activity of $O_3$-exposed F. simplex was lower than the control. Based on standard index, ozone tolerance ability of five species was determined as two tolerant species(F. rhynchophylla > K. paniculata) and three sensitive species(S. japonica > F. simplex > V. sargentii).

Different Uptake of Tc-99m ECD and Tc-99m HMPAO in the Normal Brains: Analysis by Statistical Parametric Mapping (정상 뇌 혈류 영상에서 방사성의약품에 따라 혈류 분포에 차이가 있는가: 통계적 파라미터 지도를 사용한 분석)

  • Purpose: This study investigated the differences between technetium-99m ethyl cysteinate dimer (Tc-99m ECD) and technetium-99m hexamethylpropylene amine oxime (Tc-99m HMPAO) uptake in the normal brain by means of statistical parametric mapping (SPM) analysis. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed age and sex matched 53 cases of normal brain SPECT. Thirty-two cases were obtained with Tc-99m ECD and 21 cases with Tc-99m HMPAO. There were no abnormal findings on brain MRIs. All of the SPECT images were spatially transformed to standard space, smoothed and globally normalized. The differences between the Tc-99m ECD and Tc-99m HMPAO SPECT images were statistically analyzed using statistical parametric mapping (SPM'99) software. The differences bgetween the two groups were considered significant ant a threshold of corrected P values less than 0.05. Results: SPM analysis revealed significantly different uptakes of Tc-99m ECD and Tc-99m HMPAO in the normal brains. On the Tc-99m ECD SPECT images, relatively higher uptake was observed in the frontal, parietal and occipital lobes, in the basal ganglia and thalamus, and in the superior region of the cerebellum. On the Tc-99m HMPAO SPECT images, relatively higher uptakes was observed in subcortical areas of the frontal region, temporal lobe, and posterior portion of inferior cerebellum. Conclusion: Uptake of Tc-99m ECD and Tc-99m HMPO in the normallooking brain was significantly different on SPM analysis. The selective use of Tc-99m ECD of Tc-99m HMPAO in brain SPECT imaging appears especially valuable for the interpretation of cerebral perfusion. Further investigation is necessary to determine which tracer is more accurate for diagnosing different clinical conditions.

An Integrated Keyframe Editor of Arms and Hands for 3D Sign-Language Animation (3D 수화 애니메이션을 위한 팔과 손의 통합된 키 프레임 에디터)

  • As a means of getting over the linguistic barrier between different languages, a sign-language communication system using CG animation techniques has been studied. In order to generate a kind of sign-language animation in the system, the joint angles of the arms and the hands corresponding to the gesture have to be determined Up to date, however, the values of joint angles have been decided by trial-and-error methods based on the animator's experiences To overcome the drawback, m this paper, we design an integrated keyframe editor of the arms and the hands for 3D sign-language animation with which we can easily and quickly generate the keyframes of the sign-language animation required to build up In the Implemented keyframe editor, the values of joint angles are calculated by using mverse kinematics, and the same transformation matrix is applied to the joints of two arms and twenty fingers Experimental results show a possibility that the editor could be used efficiently for making up the sign-language communication dictionaries needed for inter-communication between different languages.

Parallel Interworking Model and Performance Analysis of a Connection Control Protocol for Broadband Access Network (광대역 액세스 망을 위한 연결 제어 프로토콜의 병렬형 연동 모델과 성능 분석)

  • 광대역 액세스 망은 B-ISDN 환경에서 다양한 유형의 가입자들을 서비스 노드로 집선하는 기능을 수행한다. ITU-T의 SG13에서는 광대역 액세스 망과 서비스 노드 사이에서 ATM 자원의 동적인 할당 및 해제를 위하여 연결 제어 프로토콜의 표준화를 수행하고 있다. ATM 연결의 설정을 위한 연결 제어 프로토콜과 신호 프로토콜의 연동 기능은 서비스 노드에서 수행되며, ITU-T에서는 순차적 연동 모델을 채택하고 있다. 순차적 연동 모델은 SN에서 각 프로토콜의 절차가 순차적 방식으로 연동되므로 연결 지연이 크다. 본 논문에서는 광대역 액세스 망의 도입으로 인한 연결 설정 지연을 최소화하기 위하여 병렬형으로 수행되는 연동 모델을 제시하였다. 그리고 본 논문에서 제안한 병렬형 연동 모델의 성능 분석을 통하여 순차적 연동 모델과의 연결 설정 지연 및 완료비에 대한 비교, 분석을 수행하였다. 성능 분석에서 사용된 워크로드 파라미터는 RACE MAGIC 프로젝트의 결과를 적용하였다. Abstract In B-ISDN environment, various subscribers are concentrated into a service node via a broadband access network. The SG13 of ITU-T is standardizing a connection control protocol which provides dynamic allocation of ATM resources between an access network and a service node. To establish an ATM connection, interworking functions between the connection control protocol and the signaling protocol are performed at the service node. ITU-T adopts the sequential interworking model. In this paper, we propose the parallel interworking model which minimizes the overall connection setup delay by introducing the access network. Using the performance analysis, we compare our proposed parallel model with the existing sequential model in terms of connection setup delay and completion ratio. The workload parameters of RACE MAGIC project are applied to the analysis and simulation.
