Distribution Characteristics of Irregular Voltage in Stator Windings of IGBT PWM Inverter-Fed Induction Motors (IGBT PWM 인버터 구동 유도전동기 고정자 권선에서의 과도전압 분포특성)

  • This paper describes distribution characteristics of switching surge voltage in stator windings of induction motor driven by IGBT PWM inverter. To analyze the voltage distribution between the turns and coils of stator winding, equivalent circuit model of induction motor including cable was proposed and high frequency parameter is computed by using finite-element method (FEM). From the electro-magnetic transient program (EMTP) simulation of the whole system for induction motor, feeder cable, and PWM inverter, the variable effect on rising time of the inverter, cable length, and switching frequency on the voltage distribution is also presented. In order to experiment, an induction motor, 380[V], 50[HP], with taps from one phase are built to consider the voltage distribution so that these results can be helpful when filter was designed to remove high dv/dt.

  • A constant solid state flow velocity/mass sensor has been fabricated and its characteristics were measured according to flow velocity and fluid temperature. Parameters of the sensor circuit were obtained by simulation using finite difference method. Sensitivity was 10mW/(cm/sec) in the range of flow velocity 0-45cm/sec and response time was within two seconds. For the experiment of fluid temperature variation, the sensor output was compensated at the rate of temperature variation $0.1^{\circ}C/min$, however, with the rate of $0.2^{\circ}C/min$ it took two minutes to be compensated. Since it is not quite often to have such a rate of temperature variation of $0.2^{\circ}C/min$ or more, the developed sensor output can be used for most applications to detect small amount of flow-rate.

  • VDF(volume-delay function) is one of the most important factor to improve the reliability of traffic demand estimation because it is for estimation of link travel time based on the traffic volume variation. Because VDF of link except for freeway is applied as the parameter of BPR(bureau of public road) of U.S., it causes to deteriorate the accuracy of traffic demand estimation. The purpose of this paper is to establish new parameter of VDF based on the real-surveyed traffic data in order to improve the problem of the existing VDF. We suggest the reclassification of road hierarchy, the approach of traffic survey, the estimating method of VDF parameter, and the improvements of new VDF application. The new VDF allows us to estimate more realistic traffic situation in parts of demand, travel time and path between origin-destination.

  • $TiO_2$ fine powders were synthesized via hydrolysis reaction of titanium isopropoxide in isopropanol solvent and the reaction rates were studied by use of UV spectroscopic method. The reactions were controlled to proceed to pseudo-first-order reaction in the presence of excess water in isopropanol solvent. The rate constants which varied with temperature and concentration of water were calculated by Guggenheim method. Reactions using $D_2O$ were also carried out to determine the catalytic character of water. n value of water molecules in transition state and the thermodynamic parameters showed that the reaction proceeded by $S_N2$ mechanism. $TiO_2$ powders synthesized in this reaction were almost spheric forms and had average particle size of $0.3{\mu}m$ diameter.

Derivation of Exact Dynamic Stiffness Matrix of a Beam-Column Element on Elastic Foundation (균일하게 탄성지지된 보-기둥요소의 엄밀한 동적강성행렬 유도)

  • The governing equation and force-displacement rotations of a beam-column element on elastic foundation we derived based on variational approach of total potential energy. An exact static and dynamic 4×4 element stiffness matrix of the beam-column element is established via a generalized lineal-eigenvalue problem by introducing 4 displacement parameters and a system of linear algebraic equations with complex matrices. The structure stiffness matrix is established by the conventional direct stiffness method. In addition the F. E. procedure is presented by using Hermitian polynomials as shape function and evaluating the corresponding elastic and geometric stiffness and the mass matrix. In order to verify the efficiency and accuracy of the beam-column element using exact dynamic stiffness matrix, buckling loads and natural frequencies are calculated for the continuous beam structures and the results are compared with F E. solutions.

  • This paper has been analyzed for the stress behavior problems of the ring knot membrane unit using the finite element method about the pitch design of the membrane unit, which is one of the most important parameters in manufacturing of the membrane type LNG storage tanks. The FEM results have been compared those of the existing pitch design length. The safety problem of the ring knot membrane model, which is considered in this study, does not come out any more no matter what the pitch length is used in the extra large LNG storage tanks. But in the case of the membrane for LNG tankers, it is advantageous to design the pitch short because of fatigue strength caused by repeated loadings. Looking at the deformation behaviors of the membrane corrugation, the deformation of the hight in the y direction occurs $15{\~}50\%$ more than that of the width in the z direction. It shows also that the deformation of the membrane with $-162^{\circ}C$ cryogenic temperature is not so great compared with the deformation by hydrostatic pressure.

  • This paper is designed to report the results of development and validation procedures in relation to the Freeway Incident Management System (FIMS) prototype development as part of Intelligent Transportation Systems Research and Development program. The central core of the FIMS is an integration of the component parts and the modular, but the integrated system for freeway management. The whole approach has been component-orientated, with a secondary emphasis being placed on the traffic characteristics at the sites. The first action taken during the development process was the selection of the required data for each components within the existing infrastructure of Korean freeway system. After through review and analysis of vehicle detection data, the pilot site led to the utilization of different technologies in relation to the specific needs and character of the implementation. This meant that the existing system was tested in a different configuration at different sections of freeway, thereby increasing the validity and scope of the overall findings. The incident detection module has been performed according to predefined system validation specifications. The system validation specifications have identified two component data collection and analysis patterns which were outlined in the validation specifications; the on-line and off-line testing procedural frameworks. The off-line testing was achieved using asynchronous analysis, commonly in conjunction with simulation of device input data to take full advantage of the opportunity to test and calibrate the incident detection algorithms focused on APID, DES, DELOS and McMaster. The simulation was done with the use of synchronous analysis, thereby providing a means for testing the incident detection module.

Association between Kawasaki disease and acute respiratory viral infections (가와사끼병과 급성 호흡기 바이러스 감염증의 연관성에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose:The etiology of Kawasaki disease (KD) is still unknown. Recently, an association between human coronavirus NL63 (HCoV-NL63) and KD was implicated. Hence, we attempted to determine the association between KD and acute respiratory viral infections. Methods:Nasopharyngeal aspirate samples were obtained from 54 patients diagnosed with KD at the Seoul National University (SNU) Children's Hospital and SNU-Bundang Hospital between October 2003 and September 2006. Viral diagnoses of 11 respiratory viruses were made using multiplex reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR): respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), adenovirus, rhinovirus (RV), parainfluenza viruses (PIVs) 1 and 3, influenza viruses (IFVs) A and B, human metapneumovirus (HMPV), human bocavirus (HBoV), HCoV OC43/229E, and HCoV-NL63. Clinical data were reviewed retrospectively. Results:The median age was 32 months (6 months-10.4 years). Respiratory symptoms were observed in 37 patients (69%). The following respiratory viruses were identified in 12 patients (22%): RV (n=4), PIV-3 (n=2), HBoV (n=2), and adenovirus, RSV, PIV-1, IFV-A, and HCoV-NL63 (n=1). Co-infection with PIV-3 and RV was observed in one patient. Respiratory symptoms were observed in 7 (58.3%) and 30 (71.4%) patients of the virus-positive and virus-negative groups (P>0.05). Response rate to intravenous immunoglobulin administration was 67% (n=8) and 86% (n=36) in the virus- positive and virus-negative groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:Respiratory symptoms were commonly observed in KD patients but the association between respiratory viruses and KD were not found. Large multicenter-based investigations are required to confirm the association between acute respiratory viral infections and KD.

Microwave-assisted TS-1 Membrane for the Separation of Ethylbenzene from Xylene Mixture (마이크로웨이브로 제조된 TS-1 Membrane을 이용한 혼합 자일렌에서의 에틸벤젠 고순도화)

  • In this study, separation of ethylbenzene from mixed xylene was performed by using TS-1 zeolite membrane. TS-1 zeolite membranes were prepared by microwave synthesis and changing the reaction temperature. MFI-type TS-1 membranes are synthesized on alumina tubes by functional coating using 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane (3CP-TMS). On top surface of interlayer, nano TS-1 crystals were seeded. To form interlayer, microwave-assisted growth of TS-1 zeolite was carried out and thin zeolite layers were produced. All of the prepared membranes are tested to separate ethylbenzene from mixed xylene at different operating temperatures. TS-1 membrane with zeolite seed synthesized at $170^{\circ}C$ compared to 120, $140^{\circ}C$ shows the best ethylbenzene separation at the operation temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ from ternary mixed xylene containing certain composition of ethylbenzene/p-xylene/m-xylene. (separation factor : 2.64, ethylbenzene flux : 1703.0 mol/$m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$).

The study of Mobile Robot using Searching Algorithm and Driving Direction Control with MAV (초소형비행체를 이용한 자율이동로봇의 경로탐색 및 방향제어에 관한 연구)

  • 일반적인 로봇시스템은 자신이 이동해야 할 목표 지점을 자율적으로 생성할 수 없으므로 어떤 다른 시스템의 정보를 이용하여 주변을 탐색하거나 장애물을 인식하고 식별하여 자신의 제어전략을 수립한다. 그러므로 본 논문에서 제시한 시스템은 초소형 비행체를 이용하여 주위 환경과 자율 이동로봇의 위치 정보를 탐색할 수 있도록 시스템을 구성하였다 이러한 시스템의 성능은 로봇이 위치하고 있는 주위의 불완전한 정보로부터 적절한 결론을 유도해 낼 수 있어야 한다. 그러한 비선형적인 문제는 현재까지도 문제 해결을 위해 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 자율이동로봇의 행동 환경을 공간상의 제약을 받지 않는 비선형 시스템인 초소형 비행체에 극초단파(UHF16채널) 영상장치를 이용하여 호스트 PC로 전송하고 호스트 PC는 로봇의 현재 위치, 이동해야 할 목표위치, 장애물의 위치와 형태 등을 분석한다. 분석된 결과 파라메타는 RF-Module을 이용해서 로봇에 전송하고, 로봇은 그 데이터를 분석하여 동작하게 된다. 로봇이 오동작 또는 장애물로 인해 정확한 목적지까지 도달하지 못할 때 호스트 PC는 새로운 최단경로를 생성하거나 장애물을 회피 할 새로운 전략을 로봇에게 보내준다. 본 연구에 적용한 알고리즘은 초소형 비행체에서 탐지한 불완전한 영상정보에서도 비교적 신뢰도 놀은 결과를 보이는 A* 알고리즘을 사용하였다 적용한 알고리즘은 실험을 통하여 실시간으로 정보를 처리할 수 있었으며, 자율 이동로봇의 충돌회피나 최단 경로 생성과 같은 문제를 실험을 통하여 그 성능과 타당성을 검토하였다.delta}textitH]$를 도출하였다.rc}C$에서 30 ㎫의 압력으로 1시간동안 행하였다 소결한 시편들은 직사각형 형태로 가공하였으며 표면은 0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$의 다이아몬드 입자로 연마하였다. XRD, SEM 및 TEM을 이용하여 상분석 및 미세조직관찰을 행하였다. 파괴강도는 3중점 굽힘 법으로 (3-point bending test) 측정하였다. 이때 시편 하부의 지지 점간의 거리는 30mm, cross-head 속도는 0.5 mm/min으로 하였고 5개의 시편을 측정하여 평균값을 구하였다.ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 혼합재료 3은 0.123$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 0.017$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 혼합재료 4는 0.055$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 0.016$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 혼합재료 5는 0.031$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 0.015$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 혼합재료 6은 0.111$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$, 0.020$\ell/\textrm{cm}^3$로 나타났다. 3. 단일재료의 악취흡착성능 실험결과 암모니아는 코코넛, 소나무수피, 왕겨에서 흡착능력이 우수하게 나타났으며, 황화수소는 펄라이트, 왕겨, 소나무수피에서 다른 재료에 비하여 상대적으로
