Evaluation for Applications of Displacement Criterion by the Critical Strain of Uniaxial Compression in Rock Mass Tunnel (일축압축 한계변형률에 의한 암반터널 변위기준 적용성 평가)

  • Laboratory compressive test was conducted on 6 different types of rock in order to investigate the characteristic of critical strain under uniaxial and triaxial stress condition. The results of uniaxial compressive test mostly ranged within 1~100MPa, the critical strain was also located between 0.1~1.0%. Therefore the results distributed within the upper and lower boundary proposed by Sakurai (1982). And the failure/critical strain ratio (${\varepsilon}_f/{\varepsilon}_0$) showed between 1.0~1.8 value depending on the uniaxial compressive strength. The results of critical strain by triaxial compressive test showed below 0.8% value for all test, the M value calculated from uniaxial and triaxial compressive test results ranged 1.0~8.0 for most of rock specimens. It is concluded that failure strain (${\varepsilon}_{f3}$) of rock mass, which is in triaxial stress condition is larger than the results of uniaxial stress condition (${\varepsilon}_{f1}$) by 1.0~8.0 times and value showed 1.0~1.8 larger value than critical strain (${\varepsilon}_{01}$). Therefore it is a conservative way for rock tunnel to use critical strain (${\varepsilon}_{01}$) calculated from a uniaxial compressive strength on tunnel displacement monitoring.

  • PVC로 코팅된 폴리에스테르 섬유로 만들어진 지오그리드 보강재에 대해 변형률을 달리하여 단일 또는 다단 크리프 하중단계를 포함한 하중을 연속적으로 작용시킴으로써 그 인장파괴강도를 검토하였다. 연구결과, 동일한 변형률에서 지오그리드의 인장파괴강도는 극한인장파괴가 되기 전에 작용된 웅력이력에 의해서 거의 영향을 받지 않는다. 또한 지오그리드의 설계파단강도는 적정한 변형률하에서 정의되어야 하며, 변형률 속도가 빠른 인장시험을 통해 지오그리드의 설계파단강도를 얻을 경우 이에 대한 보정이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

  • 선형탄성 파괴해석은 균열을 갖는 변형률 경화재료의 파괴거동을 예측하는데 불충분하기 때문에 최근에는 균열 선단 부에서 대규모 소성 역을 갖는 균열 체에 적용할 수 있는 많은 파괴역학개념이 제안되고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 대규모항복 조건하의 연성파괴를 보이는 평판을 정확하게 해석할 수 있는 새로운 유한요소모델을 제시하고자 한다. 균열 선단 부의 응력 장을 정의하는데 가장 지배적인 파괴매개변수인 J-적분 값과 소성 역의 크기 및 형상을 J-적분법과 등가영역적분법을 통해 파괴거동을 설명할 수 있도록 증분소성이론에 기초를 둔 p-version 유한요소해석이 채택되었다. 제안된 유한요소모델에 의한 수치해석결과는 이론 해와 h-version 유한요소해석과 비교되었다.

Failure Mechanism Evaluation in Normally Consolidated Cohesive Soils by Plane Strain Test with Digital Image Analysis (평면변형률 시험에서 디지털 이미지 해석을 통한 정규압밀 점성토의 파괴거동 분석)

  • Soil failure is initiated and preceded by forming and progressing of shear band, defined as the localization of deformation into thin zones of soil mass. To understand the failure mechanism of normally consolidated cohesive soil, the spatial distribution and evolution of deformation within the entire specimen need to be evaluated. In this study, vertical compression tests under plane strain condition were performed on reconstituted kaolinite specimens, while capturing digital images of the specimen at regular intervals during shearing. Overall stress-strain behavior from initial to post peak has been analyzed together with spatial distributions of deformations and shear band characteristics from digital images at 4 stages.

파괴의 원인과 방지대책 - 선박, 해양구조물 파괴를 중심으로 -

  • 선박, 해양구조물을 중심으로 파괴손상례, 파괴해석방법, 파괴의 방지대책에 대해 기술하였다. 실제 구조물의 파괴는 매우 복합적인 요인에 의해 발생되기 때문에 그 요인 분석이 쉽지 않으나 최근 들어 파괴역학, microfractography의 발달로 비교적 상세하게 파괴요인이 밝혀지게 되었다. 일단 파괴가 발생하면 그 사고를 case study하여 대책을 강구함으로서 같은 류의 사고 발생률을 감소시킬 수 있다. 그러나 새로운 성능을 갖춘 구조물, 특수한 환경에 사용되는 구조물 등과 같 이 이제까지 경험하지 못한 구조물의 경우에는 사고 발생률이 높아 질 수밖에 없다. 이러한 구조물의 파괴를 방지하기 위해서는 보다 정확한 응력 또는 변형률 해석, 각종 현상을 재현한 시뮬레이션 시험법의 개발, 비파괴 검사기술의 개발과 더불어 재료개발에 병행되어야 할 것이다. 아울러 구조물의 잔존수명 예측 기술이 더욱 개발되어야 할 것이다.

Development of Fracture Energy Measurement System of Asphalt Mixture Using Marshall Tester (마샬 안정도시험기를 이용한 아스팔트 혼합물의 파괴에너지 측정시스템 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a simple and rational crack evaluation system using Marshall tester. Fracture energy were used as a parameter to evaluate the crack resistance of asphalt mixtures. Marshall tester basically measures the vertical deformation obtained from the linear variable differential transformer(LVDT) attached on the specimen's exterior, which can cause a measurement error due to the local deformation near the loading head. Therefore, the validity of the measurement system of Marshall tester should be tested to use it in calculation of fracture energy. Two types of indirect tensile strength tests were performed using four types of asphalt mixtures at two temperature conditions. From the tests, it was shown that local deformation near the loading head had not occurred before a specimen was fractured, so that it did not cause the measurement error of fracture energy. And also from the statistic analysis, the coefficient of variation of vertical deformation measurements obtained on specimen's exterior is less than 15%. Thus, vertical deformation measurements obtained on the specimen's exterior can be used in crack evaluation system using Marshall tester.

Small Strain Measurements of Sands in Plane Strain Compression (평면 변형률 압축상태에서의 모래의 미소 변형률 측정)

  • It has been demonstrated in plane strain compression tests performed on dense Toyoura sand and Silver Leighton Buzzard sand, that the newly developed instrumentation for small strain measurements was capable of measuring the altering stiffness of sands for a wide range of shear strain from ($10^{-6}$to $10^{-2}$. It was found that for the range of shear strain($\gamma$) from $10^{-5}$ to those at peak, the Rowe's stressiilatancy relation seemed to be a good approximation for Toyoura sand and Silver Leighton Buzzard sand. However, the value of K and Poisson's ratio(at elastic range:${\nu}_{psc}^e$) varied with sand types. It was also found that the value of ${\nu}_{psc}^e$ and stress -dilatancy relation was irrespective of overconsolidation ratio(OCR).

  • The purposes of this study is to verify the fracture characteristic of steel which is manufactured in Korea, subjected to cyclic loading. This investigation deals with the low cycle fatigue behavior of longitudinal reinforcement in reinforced concrete bridge substructure (piles and columns of piers). Eighty-one specimens of longitudinal reinforcement were tested under axial strain controlled reversed cyclic tests with strain amplitudes. The selected test variables are ratio of tension strain to compression strain, yield stress of longitudinal reinforcement, ratio of diameter of longitudinal steel to clear length of longitudinal steel, size of longitudinal steel and strain amplitudes. Low cycle fatigue behavior and low-cycle fatigue life are investigated and discussed in this paper.

  • This paper proposes ductile failure simulation under high strain rate conditions using finite element (FE) analyses. In order to simulate a cracked component under a high strain rate condition, this paper applies the stress-modified fracture strain model combined with the Johnson/Cook model. The stress-modified fracture strain model determines the incremental damage in terms of stress triaxiality (${\sigma}_m/{\sigma}_e$) and fracture strain (${\varepsilon}_f$) for a dimple fracture using the tensile test results. To validate the stress-modified fracture strain model under dynamic loading conditions, the parameters are calibrated using the tensile test results under various strain rates and the fracture toughness test results under quasi-static conditions. The calibrated damage model predicts the CT test results under a high strain rate. The simulated results were then compared with the experimental data.

  • Strain softening is observed for geomaterials such as rocks when they are sheared. The proper computational modelling for strain softening is very important because this behavior is closely related to failure in geotechnical problems. In this paper, we have investigated the proper FEM techniques for modelling strain softening in order to simulate failure behavior numerically. In showing numerical examples, the effects of element shape, mesh pattern and of imperfection and the difference between small and large deformation theories, of displacement control and pressure control after peak have been discussed.
