  • Testing methods for mechanical properties of the advanced composites were introduced. The mechanical properties, such as tensile properties, compressive properties, in-plane shear properties, flexural properties, and interlaminar shear properties, were evaluated along the warp and the fill directions. The CF3327 of the carbon fabric, the HG1581 of the glass fabric, and the HK285 of the aramid fabric were considered as reinforcements. Epoxy and phenolic resin were used as resin. The experimental results obtained in this study would be applicable in the design and structural analysis for the manufacture of the carbody of the tilting train.

  • Systems engineering test and evaluation technology development program for (Korea) Express Tilting Train(TTX) system in progress is a national large system development program that is not only a large-size and complex but also multi-disciplinary in nature. For the TTX test and evaluation technology development, verification requirements that could verify system function and performance, should be derived from system specification. Hereafter, this could be listed as items of test. System engineering process establish traceability between items of test and system requirements. These tasks could be accomplished by the schema. Using the Core, a system engineering tool, TTX program could be database and similar other system could be developed effectively and efficiency

  • Tilting train has been developed to increase the operational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper show that results of normal capacity calculations of the electrical equipments such as Main transformer, PWM converter, VVVF inverter, traction motor in TTX(tilting train express) with maximum operation speed 180 km/h.

  • 본고에서는 최근 논의되고 있는 ATP 도입의 필요성 및 시스템 선정의 적절성을 검토하는데 있어서 철도신호 분야 뿐만이 아닌 우리의 환경변화 여건 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 철도의 장기 발전전략에 부합하는 APT 도입 방안을 제시하였다. ATP 도입시 고려해야 할 주요 환경변화로는 고속철도개통, 기존철도시스템과의 조화와 관련한 기술발전 측면, 틸팅차량 등 기존선 속도향상, 전철화, 복선화 등 철도영업거리 확장 및 남북철도연결 등을 고려해야 할 것이다. 즉, 바람직한 차상신호장치 도입을 위해서는 차량과의 적합성에 있어서는 기존차량, 특히 속도계장치와의 호환성, 시설분야에 있어서는 설치작업 및 향후 유지보수의 용이성과 국산화 가능성, 향후 남북철도 연결과 고속 철도의 기존선 연계운행 등을 종합적으로 고려하고 장기적인 철도발전에 도움이 되는 방향으로 추진되어야 할 것이다. 결론적으로, 우리철도의 기반시설과 차량 등의 현황과 향후 변동요인을 반영하여 가장 바람직한 ATP 표준기준을 용역 등을 통해 설정하고, 업체선정, 적어도 1년 정도의 시험기간을 거쳐 실용화 단계로 접근해야 할 것이다.

  • Based on a Phased array technology, 2-dimensionally steerable base station antenna was developed at cellular band. The antenna, which consists of 2 by 5 radiating element, can provide 14㏈i gain with half power beam width of 0$^{\circ}$and 13$^{\circ}$ in horizontal and vertical plane respectively. It has beam scanning range of 0$^{\circ}$to 12$^{\circ}$in vertical down tilting and -15$^{\circ}$to 15$^{\circ}$in horizontal steering. The beam control Performance of antenna was verified by DM measurement on field trial.

  • Based on the proven feasibility of bottom ash and tire shred-soil mixtures as lightweight fill materials, tire shred-bottom ash mixtures were suggested as a new lightweight fill material to replace the conventional construction material (soil) with bottom ash. Therefore, we carried out the field compaction test and performance test of large scale embankment in order to evaluate their suitability for the use of lightweight fill materials. In these tests, we could assess the settlement, earth pressure, stress-strain relation, vibration of large scale embankment which were made with tire shred-bottom ash mixture and the conventional fill material(weathered soil) respectively. The earthpressure and vibration transmission was decreased and the settlement behaviour of the 2 materials (tire shred mixture and weathered soil) was measured similarly under static/cyclic loading condition.

Shallow-depth Tilt Monitoring for Engineering Application (공학적 활용을 위한 천부지반 틸트 모니터링)

  • In recent yeaes, the collapses of man made structures have been encountered from time to time due to the deformation of the ground in korea. Furthermore, the possibilities of casasters from the ground deformation suCh as landslide and active fault are atrracting our attention to the deformation monitoring. In this study, two-coordinate tilt which was monitored during six months in order to develop tediniques for prevention of disasters from the ground deformation. The two-coordinate tilt which was detected by a tilt-sensor installed in shallow depth on the slope with the sensitivity of 0.0001 arc.sec in every 10 minutes was recorded continously to PC through the interface with 200-m line coonection. The observed digital tilt data. together with the relevant meteorological data were analyzed in reference to engineering application. During the whole observation period of six months, the net tilt is 10.06 arc.sec to the west and 73.88 arc.sec to the south. Consequently the ground has a tilt of 74.56 arc.sec to the direction of $S7.75^{\circ}W$ with average tilting of 0.02 arc.sec/hour. In spite of such fast and large tilting, it is interpreted in view of engineering aspects that the site is much safe from danger, since both East-West and North-South components of tilt converge as time goes by. Two categories of deformational events are recognized ; one is toward the direction of surface slope and the other is to the direction of increased pore pressure. Tiks are acenain to have a close relation with precipitation of rain. The daily variation of two-coordinate tilt is delayed 4.3 hours in average after the variation of atmospheric temperature. A certain correlation between atmospheric pressure and deformation might be revealed.

  • In this study, By the time that TTX technology is adopted as railway rolling stock, we analyzed quantitatively energy saving by reducing the power consumption with the reduction of the operation time through the speed improvement and suggested the necessity to introduce TTX technology in the domestic rail vehicles. The effect of energy saving by comparing and analyzing the power consumption during the operation by TTX Hanvit 200 and 8200 electric locomotives to pull trains on the same line was suggested and the efficiency of the main devices(i.e C/I) of Hanvit 200 was compared and analyzed by measuring the power consumption by a single unit. For improving KORAIL management environment, reducing energy usage is an urgent challenge, its measures for solving them are constantly considered in many areas. In addition, at the time of improving the conventional track to speed up and changing the signals, Tilting technology will be contributed to the management environment by enlarging the passengers' demand through the reduction of the operation time and saving energy using the existing infrastructure.
