  • Unlike behaviors that are generally known, information regarding unspecific behaviors is insufficient. For an education or guidance regarding the unspecific behaviors, collection and management of data regarding the unspecific behaviors of special-needs students are needed. In this paper, a consultation management model based on behavior classification of special-needs students using machine learning is proposed. It collects data by photographing the behavior of special students in real time, analyzes the behavior pattern, composes a data set, and trains it in the suggestion system. It is possible to improve the accuracy by comparing the behavior of special students photographed later into the suggestion system and analyzing the results by comparing it with the existing data again. The test has been performed by arbitrarily applying unspecific behaviors that are not stored in the database, and the forecast model has accurately classified and grouped the input data. Also, it has been verified that it is possible to accurately distinguish and classify the behaviors through the feature data of the behaviors even if there are some errors in the input process.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and to explore the possibility of the virtual reality based communication training program(VR-CTP) for students with intellectual disabilities. To do this, sentences and dialogue of program were extracted from the National Common Basic Curriculum of Special School and the contents design of program were developed based on the consultation by special education experts. To explore the possibility of applying the VR-CTP, a usability evaluation was conducted with 30 special school teachers and 44 students with intellectual disabilities. The results showed that the VR-CTP had a high level of usability as the special school teachers received 4.23 and the students with intellectual disabilities received 4.44 out of 5. But there is no difference of usability evaluation on the special teachers' school level and teaching experiences without arrangement of school. Also, there is no difference of usability evaluation on the students' IQ, school level, and arrangement of school. As a result of this study, we can draw a conclusion that there is a possibility of applying the VR-CTP to language education for students with intellectual disabilities.

  • The purpose of this study were to develop a tutorial for secondary students to understand of basic concepts of special relativity, which is appropriate for the cognition level of secondary student. We developed the concept evaluation tool and the tutorial material. Result from pretest and post-test are presented to verify the effect of the tutorial for helping student understanding of the concept such as time, event, reference frame, relativity of simultaneity. Secondary student had intense cognitive conflict about the complex concepts such as simultaneity, length contraction and time expansion. This tutorial could be proposed methodology to overcome cognitive difficulty for understanding these concepts.

  • This study is a report of an intensive ESP(English for Specific Purposes) program conducted for the College of Economic students in Korean University. This is planned for the students to enhance their English achievement in comprehending the subject contents which they would learn in the near future. In order to determine whether the course helped the students enhance their English achievement or not, a pre and post test were taken, one at the beginning of the semester and the other at the end of semester. The result of the test shows that this program benefits relevant students, especially lower level students. In accordance with a general accepted view, the English for Specific Purposes(ESP) program is generally targeted for students who expect to learn the basic knowledge of English through mediated courses. Since students already have specific purpose of studying for their major courses, their motivation and interest in the course are higher than the students who don't have any specific purpose. Therefore, this study shows that the students who took English for Specific Purposes(ESP) had higher motivation and interest to study English related to their major courses as the test results were higher than before they had taken the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) program.

  • Using various types of educational media plays an important role in educating students with disabilities. In recent years, augmented reality has emerged as an important technology that can increase the effectiveness of special education programs. This study developed augmented reality contents focusing on the theme 'Weather and Life' in the 'Na' unit of the Basic Special School Curriculum, and explored the possibility of applying the contents to the science education. The contents design instructions and educational programs for this study were developed based on a focus-group interview conducted with five special school teachers and two developers. To explore the possibility of applying the augmented reality contents, a usability evaluation was conducted with 23 special school teachers and 18 students with intellectual disability. The results showed that the augmented reality contents had a high level of usability as the special school teachers received 4.73 and the students with intellectual disability received 4.75 out of 5. As a result of this study, we can draw a conclusion that there is a high possibility of applying augmented reality contents to science education for students with intellectual disability.
