Development of Agricultural Products Screening System through X-ray Density Analysis

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for displaying colored defects by measuring the relative density with the wide-area and local densities of X-ray. The relative density of one pixel represents a relative difference from the surrounding pixels, and we also suggest a colorization of X-ray images representing these pixels as normal and defective. The traditional method mainly inspects materials such as plastics and metals, which have large differences in transmittance to the object. Our proposed method can be used to detect defects such as sprouts or holes in images obtained by an inspection machine that detects X-rays. In the experiment, the products that could not be seen with the naked eye were colored with pests or sprouts in a specific color so that they could be used in the agricultural product selection system. Products that are uniformly filled with a single ingredient inside, such as potatoes, carrots, and apples, can be detected effectively. However, it does not work well with bumpy products, such as peppers and paprika. The advantage of this method is that, unlike machine learning, it doesn't require large amounts of data. The proposed method could be applied to a screening system using X-rays and used not only in agricultural product screening systems but also in manufacturing processes such as processed food and parts manufacturing, so that it can be actively used to select defective products.

Quality Characteristics of Grapes during Post-irradiation Storage at Different Temperatures (감마선 조사 포도의 저장온도에 따른 품질특성 변화)

  • A gamma irradiation process was applied to prolong the shelf-life of grapes and changes in microbiological, physicochemical, nutritional, and sensory characteristics were investigated during 6 weeks of post-irradiation storage at $4^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$. Physiochemical characteristics of grapes such as total sugar content, pH, titratable acidity, and anthocyanine content, were stable after 1 kGy of irradiation, a dose recommended by CODEX for fruits and vegetables. The viable cell counts of contaminating microorganisms were reduced 1-2 logs by this radiation dose. After 6 weeks of storage at $4^{\circ}C$ the microbiological quality of irradiated grapes was stable, but all non-irradiated grapes had deteriorated. Whether or not grapes were irradiated, weight loss rapidly increased after 2 weeks of storage at $25^{\circ}C$, whereas weight loss was delayed by storage at $4^{\circ}C$. Immediately after gamma irradiation, the sensory evaluation results did not differ between samples, and the sensory quality of the irradiated grapes remained acceptable for over 6 weeks of storage at $4^{\circ}C$. The results suggest that 1 kGy of gamma irradiation does not detrimentally affect the nutritional or physical characteristics of grapes, especially when cold storage follows radiation treatment. In conclusion, a combination of gamma irradiation and cold storage prolonged the shelf-life of grapes by 6 weeks.

Resolving Line Distortions in Edge Strength Hough Transform (경계선 강도 허프 변환에서 직선 왜곡의 최소화 방안)

  • Though the Hough transform(HT) is a well-known method for detecting analytical shape represented by a number of free parameters, the basic property of the HT, the one-to-many mapping from an image spare to a Hough space, causes the innate problem, the sensitivity to noise. This basic problem also deteriorates the quality of detected lines and makes the detected line deviated from the real one or generates some bogus, multiple lines where only one real line exists. The size of Hough space also affects the quality of detected lines. In this paper, we analyzed the line distortions in the traditional Hough transform and showed that the distortions are relieved in the edge strength Hough transform(ESHT), which is a modified HT. However the usage of expanded edge and edge strength in ESHT can cause some new line distortions which do not exist in the HT. These new ones can be solved by a proper setting of decreasing and broadening parameter values and the optimal values can be determined only by some pre-determined values. We also illustrated several examples to show the distortion-decreasing property of ESHT.

Optimization of shock absorption system for lunar lander considering the effect of lunar regolith (달 토양 특성을 고려한 달착륙선 충격흡수장치의 최적화)

  • To successfully explore the moon by lunar lander, it is essential to guarantee the safe landing of lunar lander. Therefore, efficient shock absorption system of lunar lander should be designed in order to reduce landing impact force. Also, for more practical design of lunar lander, it is important to consider the effect of lunar regolith. In the line of thought, finite element model of lunar lander considering the effect of lunar regolith is developed. To reduce landing impact force, optimization of shock absorption system for lunar lander has been carried out. In optimization, sequential approximate optimization method based on meta-model is used. Through the result of optimization, it is verified that landing impact force on lunar lander can be efficiently reduced by the present optimization procedure.

Calculation of the Characteristic Impedance of Transmission Lines with Periodic Structures (주기구조가 결합된 전송선로의 특성 임피던스 계산)

  • This paper describes the calculation for characteristic impedance of transmission line with periodic structures such as defected ground structure (DGS) and photonic bandgap (PBG). The previous method which uses the ${\lambda}$/4 transmission line model is reviewed and its disadvantage that the calculated characteristic impedance is strongly dependent on the frequency is discussed. The characteristic impedance of transmission lines with periodic structures are calculated using the ${\lambda}$/4 transmission line model and analytic method. The calculated characteristic impedance by the latter method is an almost constant value while that from the first method depends on the frequency strongly. In addition, the characteristic impedance of the transmission line with PBG is calculated and proposed, while it has been rarely studied ever. S-parameters are obtained from the measurement using the fabricated sample as well as simulation, and used for calculating the characteristic impedances and comparison. The characteristic impedances calculated from the measured S-parameters agree well with the simulated results. It is well described that the analytic method to calculate the characteristic impedance of transmission lines on uniform dielectric structures can be applied successfully to the transmission lines with periodic structures such as DGS and PBG.

  • 단원자를 이용한 Cavity-QED 실험등을 위해서는 고분해능 분광학이 필요하다. 레이저 주파수 안정화는 고분해능 분광학을 위한 필수적인 선결 과제이다. 본 연구에서는 다이오드 레이저를 대상으로 전류되먹임 방법에 의해 주파수 안정화를 하였다. 오차 신호를 얻기 위해 공진기를 사용하였는데 공진기는 원자 전이선을 이용한 경우보다 더 높은 신호 대 잡음비를 얻을 수 있다. 일단 공진기에 안정화된 레이저는 주파수 특성을 그대로 유지한 채 AOM이나 EOM 등을 이용하여 필요한 원자 전이선으로 주파수 이동시켜 고분해능 분광에 활용할 수 있다.   • 본 연구에서는 기존 방식인 인력에 의한 송전 선로 점검 방식을 대체할 수 있는 로봇 기술이 적용된 열화 검출기의 제작을 위하여 송전 선로의 부식 메커니즘과 물성 변화에 대해 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 송전 선로의 열화에 의한 기계적 결함과 전기적 특성변화의 확인을 위한 과학적인 접근 방법을 제시하여 송전 선로의 열화를 포함한 외부 이상을 검출할 수 있는 열화 검출기에 대한 연구를 수행하였다.

  • 본 논문은 의학 연구 및 교육, 환자 치료를 위해 보다 정확한 정보를 제공하고자 의료 영상 중에 가장 많이 사용하는 의료 영상인 뇌 MR 영상의 횡단면만을 가지고 3차원으로 가시화한다. 3차원으로 재구성하는데 있어서 원 영상의 모형을 자연스러운 표현을 위해서는 층 영상과 층 영상간의 보간 영상이 필요하므로 이를 생성하는 방법에 대해서 제안한다. 그리고 3차원 재구성에 필요한 정보를 추출하기 위해 각 영상에서 머리와 뇌 영역의 윤곽선 정보를 추출하고 가시화의 시간을 줄이기 위해 윤곽선 정보에서 특징점을 추출하여 이를 기반으로 하여 3차원으로 재구성 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 CDMA 2000 1x망에 기반한 유무선 통합망에서 무선망의 품질을 측정하기 위해 RLP NAK Rate를 사용하는 방법을 제안한다. 무선망은 유선망과 다른 특성을 가지며 무선망에 적절히 대응하는 전송 알고리즘을 적용하기 위해서는 무선망의 정확한 품질 측정이 필요하다. 이를 위해 유무선 통합망에서 유선의 영향없이 무선망의 품질만을 측정할 수 있는 RLP NAK Rate를 제안하고, 이를 통하여 무선망의 품질을 확인할 수 있음을 실험을 통해 밝힌다.

Optoelectronic properties of p-n hetero-junction array of networked p-CNTs and aligned $n-SnO_2$ nanowires

  • 최근 들어 나노선을 이용한 pn 접합 소자 연구 결과가 매우 활발하게 보고되고 있다. 그러나, 서로 다른 두 종류의 나노선으로 pn 접합 어레이 구조의 소자를 제작할 때, 나노선을 원하는 위치에 정렬하는 기술상의 어려움이 큰 걸림돌이 된다. 본 연구에서는 p-CNT와 n-$SnO_2$ 나노선을 이용한 pn 접합 어레이 구조를 제작할 수 있는 독창적인 공정기술을 제안한다. 먼저 $SiO_2$가 300 nm 성장된 Si 기판을 선택적으로 패터닝하여 BOE (6:1) 용액으로 $SiO_2$ 층을 80 nm 정도 선택적으로 에칭한 후, 선택적으로 에칭된 표면에 슬라이딩 장비를 이용하여 화학기상증착법(chemical vapor deposition: CVD)으로 성장된 n-$SnO_2$ 나노선을 전이시킨다. 그 다음 thermal tape를 이용하여 CVD 법으로 성장된 랜덤 네트워크 형태의 CNT를 $SnO_2$ 나노선이 전이된 기판 위에 전이 시킨다. 이때 성장된 CNT 필름 중 금속성 나노선을 통한 전하 이동을 감소시키기 위해, 촉매로 사용되는 페리틴의 농도를 낮춰서 전체적인 CNT의 농도를 줄이는 방법을 이용하였다. 따라서, 성장된 CNT 필름은 별도의 후처리 없이 p-형의 반도체성을 보였다. 제작된 pn-소자는 정류비가 ~103 인 정류특성을 보였으며, 254 nm 파장의 UV lamp를 조사하여 광전류가 발생하는 것을 확인하였다. 연구결과는 이종의 나노선 접합에 의한 다이오드 응용과 UV 센서응용 가능성을 보여준다.
