고장력강 관재 액압성형 공정 설계 (Hydroforming Process Design of High-Strength Steel Tube)

  • Tubular torsion beam of high strength steel is going about in an automotive rear axle due to the advantages of light weight and efficient rear packaging capability. High strength tubular beam can be manufactured by the hydroforming in order to ensure dimensional accuracy, while a conventional stamping has been used for steel tubular beam. Internal pressure, feeding and their combination are the key factors of controlling the process. Based on the numerical simulation and try-outs, the optimized hydroforming process conditions for the high strength tubular beam were suggested.

  • Tube hydroforming is a relatively new technology in comparison with conventional stamping process. Thus, there is no large knowledge base to assist the product and process designers, especially from the friction point of view. This paper covers the topic f friction and lubrication with regard to tube hydroforming. It presents the fact that frictional characteristic can have an effect on the formability of specific components. It also presents the results of test about several lubricants which are used in practical press process. The presented concept describes the equipment which is required to determine the friction coefficient.

  • An implicit finite element formulation for axisymmetric tube hydroforming is investigated. In order to describe normal anisotropy of the tube, Hill's non-quadratic yield function is employed. The frictional contact between die and tube and frictionless contact between tube and fluid are considered using the mesh-normal vector computed from finite element mesh of the tube. In order to verify the validity of the developed finite element formulation, the axisymmetric tube bulge test is simulated and simulation results are compared with experimental measurements. In the axisymmetric tube hydroforming process, an optimal hydraulic curve is pursued by performing the simulation with various internal pressures and axial forces.

  • Recently, the hydroforming process is widely applied to the automotive industry and rapidly spreaded to other industries. In this paper, An implicit finite element formulation for simulating axisymmetric tube hydroforming processes is performed. In order to describe normal anisotropy of the tube, Hill's non-quadratic yield function is employed. The frictional contact between die and tube and the frictionless contact between tube and fluid are considered using the mesh-normal vectors computed from the finite element mesh of the tube. The complete set of the governing relations comprising equilibrium and interfacial equations is linearized for Newton-Raphson procedure. In order to verify the validity of the developed finite element formulation, the axisymmetric tube bulge test is simulated and the simulation results are compared with experimental measurements. In a simulation of stepped circular tube hydroforming processes, an optimal hydraulic pressure curve is pursued by considering simultaneously internal pressures and axial forces.

  • Aluminum alloys have high potential for weight reduction in automotive and other applications. But aluminum alloys have relatively low tubular hydroformability which can be enhanced by conducting the hydroforming at elevated temperatures. Hot working processes are commonly used in bulk forming such as forging and rolling, but still is rare in sheet metal forming like hydroforming. In this study hydroforming test at elevated temperatures is performed by special designed induction heating system to investigate the hydroformability of aluminum alloys. The high temperature formability characteristrics are obtained by 1?fitting forming test and circular bulging test and the effects of the process parameters such as feeding amount, internal pressure and temperatures on the tubular forming limits are mainly investigated.

  • The automotive industry has recently shown a growing interest in tube hydroforming. Even though many structural parts in automotives have been produced from the cylindrical tubes, many failures - wrinkling, buckling, folding back, bursting and so on - are frequently experienced during the tube hydroforming process under improper forming conditions. In this paper, analytical studies are performed to determine the forming limits for the tube hydroforming process and demonstrate how the loading path influences the forming limit. The theoretical results for the forming limits of the wrinkling and bursting are then compared with the experimental results for an aluminum tube.

  • Recently social demands of fuel economy and environmental regulations require the development of lightweight components and new manufacturing technologies. The aluminum tube hydroforming is a manufacturing process which can provide lightweight components as automotive parts. In this paper, the hydroformability of aluminium tube in different condition of bending process is presented. An investigation has been conducted on how to control the deformed shape and its effect on thinning distribution after hydroforming by using finite element simulation. Finite element simulation of tube hydroforming for automotive trailing arm is carried out to explore the effect of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional bending.

  • Tube hydroforming is a relatively new technology compared to conventional stamping. thus there is little knowledge base that can be utilized for process and die design. To remedy this situation considerable research is now being conducted by many researchers on significant aspects of tube hydroforming technology including material selection pre-form design hydroforking process and tool design. in the tube hydroforming process we frequently experence many failure modes like wrinkling. buckling folding back and fracture under the improper forming conditions. In this paper forming limit for failure occurrence such as fracture and wrinkling is examined theoretically and the result is compared with Back's experimental result.

  • Hydroforming is a method for forming circular tubes. If this technology is to be applied economically, it is essential to have knowledge of the avoidance of failure cases as well as of the behavior of the tube in the tool under the compressive stress and forces that are exerted by the machine. A finite element simulation for manufacturing of lower arm from straight tubes, using the hydroforming method, was performed to investigate the effects of varying process parameters. Explicit method is used to simulate hydroforming in many cases, but that is not included flow rule. And then it needs simulation for implicit method. It was simulated by two methods, implicit and explicit, to compare the result of the hydroforming.
