Effects of Green Manure and Carbonized Rice Husk on Soil Properties and Rice Growth (녹비작물 혼파 이용 벼 재배 시 왕겨숯 처리가 벼 생육 및 토양 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The cultivation of green manure crops plays an important role in soil quality and sustainability of agricultural system. However, the incorporation of green manure crops may be of concern because it can lead to strongly reducing conditions in the submerged soil. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of rice husk carbon on rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivation using green manure mixtures (hairy vetch + rye) in rice paddy. Field experiments were conducted in rice paddy soil (Shinheung series, fine loamy, mixed, nonacid, mesic family of Aeric Fluventic Haplaquepts) at the National Institute of Crop Science (NICS), Korea from October 2007 to October 2008. The experiments consisted of three treatments: application or no application of carbonized rice husk, and conventional fertilization. These treatments were subdivided into whole incorporation and aboveground removal of green manure mixtures. The redox potential (Eh) was higher upon application of the carbonized rice husk when compared to no application at 8 and 37 days after transplanting (DAT). The ammonium-N ($NH_4$-N) in soil was highest upon the application of carbonized rice husk + whole green manure incorporation at 17 and 49 DAT. Plant height and tiller number of rice were similar to the $NH_4$-N concentration in soil. Rice yields of application and no application of carbonized rice husk treatment were not significant. However, application of carbonized rice husk improved the soil physical properties such as bulk density and porosity after rice harvest. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that carbonized rice husk could be used as soil amendment for environmentally-friendly rice production under a green manure mixture-rice cropping system.

Effect of Liquid Pig Manure Application on Soil Chemical Properties in Rice-Chinese Milkvetch Crop Rotation (벼-자운영 윤작재배에서 돈분액비 시용이 토양화학성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of liquid pig manure application on soil chemical properties in rice - Chinese milkvetch rotation. Field experiment was designed with APLM 0 (Chinese milkvetch + Liquid pig manure $0L\;m^{-2}$), APLM 50 (Chinese milkvetch + Liquid pig manure $1.8L\;m^{-2}$), APLM 75 (Chinese milkvetch + Liquid pig manure $2.7L\;m^{-2}$) and APLM 100 (Chinese milkvetch + Liquid pig manure $3.6L\;m^{-2}$), respectively. The concentration of O.M, T-N, Avail. $P_2O_5$, K, Ca and Mg at different liquid pig manure levels in soil were generally high in the order of APLM 100 > APLM 75 > APLM 50 > APLM 0. Especially, T-N concentration of soil in APLM 100 was 1.4 times higher than APLM 0. The yield of rice in APLM 100 was $636kg\;10a^{-1}$ (increasing yield 5.3%) compared with APLM 0 in rice-Chinese milkvetch crop rotation. Therefore, application of liquid pig manure was useful in rice - Chinese milkvetch crop rotation.

  • 분류층 가스화기는 석탄과 산소(공기) 및 수증기가 반응하여 $1200{\sim}1600^{\circ}C$의 고온, 20~60기압의 고압에서 작동되어 합성가스를 생성하며 합성가스에 포함된 입자 및 황화합물 등을 정제설비를 통하여 정제 후 발전 및 화학원료로 사용한다. 석탄가스화 중 석탄에 포함된 대부분의 회분은 용융슬래그 형태로 가스화기 벽면을 따라 흘러 내려 가스화기 하부의 냉각수조에서 급랭되어 배출된다. 이때 용융슬래그의 원활한 배출을 위해서는 일정범위의 점도를 유지하는 것이 필요하다. 슬래그의 점도는 가스화기 온도 및 Ash의 조성에 따라 크게 변하며 가스화기 설계 및 운전 시 매우 중요한 변수이다. 따라서 최적의 설계 및 운전을 위해서는 Ash의 점도예측이 중요하며, 분류층 가스화기내부에서 Ash 점도 예측을 위한 DooVisco 프로그램을 개발하였다. DooVisco는 가스화기 내부에서 슬래그 용융온도 및 온도별 점도, 가스화기 최소 운전온도 및 석회석 투입 효과 분석뿐만 아니라 석탄의 혼합 사용 시의 특성 예측도 가능하도록 개발되었다. DooVisco는 슬래그 주요 4성분인 SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, FeO 성분에 대한 Phase Diagram을 이용하여 1차적으로 슬래그용융온도(Liquidus Temperature)를 예측하고, 주요 4 성분 외에 Na2O, MgO, K2O, TiO2 등을 고려한 Kalmanovich Model을 이용하여 점도를 예측한다. 최종적으로 슬래그 용융온도와 점도를 활용하여 분류층 가스화기 운전가능 온도범위를 예측한다. 개발된 DooVisco를 활용하여 300MW급 실증 IGCC 플랜트에 사용가능성이 있는 석탄을 대상으로 슬래그의 용융온도 및 점도 등을 예측하였으며 최적 운전을 위한 슬form점도 조절용 Flux인 석회석 투입량 등을 평가하였다. 평가 결과 슬래그 용융온도가 $1700^{\circ}C$ 이상으로 석회석 투입이 필요하다고 판단되었다. 약 가스화기 내부 온도를 $1500^{\circ}C$ 정도에서 원활한 운전을 위해서는 석탄 대비 약 10% 내외의 석회석 투입이 필요할 것으로 평가되었다. DooVisco는 분류층 가스화기 설 계시 가스화기 최적 운전 온도 설정 및 Flux 투입필요성, 종류, 투입량 선정에 활용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 플랜트 운전시 석탄의 탄종 적합성 등을 판단하는데 활용될 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

  • 우리나라 최초로 시설된 포항방사광가속기는 1988년 착수하여 6년만인 작년말에 준공되었다. B일본에도 없는 제3세대 최신형으로 1천5백억원을 투입한 방사광가속기가 완공되기까지는 6년동안 심혈을 기울여 전 과정을 진두지휘한 포항공대 이동녕 박사의 숨결이 담겨있다. 방사광가속기 준공의 산파역인 이동영 박사에게 앞으로의 설계를 들어보았다.

Effect of no-tillage and green manure practices on the nitrous oxide emission from cropland (농경지에서 무경운 및 녹비 투입에 따른 아산화질소 배출특성)

  • Cropland is a major source of atmospheric nitrous oxide (N2O) and we need technologies in the field of agriculture that can reduce the presence of N2O. In this study, a field experiment encompassing six treatments was conducted to determine the efflux of N2O in cropland during the growing season. An experimental plot was composed of two main sectors, no-tillage (NT) and conventional tillage (CT), which were subdivided into three plots according to types of nitrogen (N) sources: CF, chemical fertilizer; HV, hairy vetch+chemical fertilizer; and RY, rye+chemical fertilizer. The cumulative N2O emissions were 179.8 mg N2O m-2 for CF-CT, 108.1 mg N2O m-2 for HV-CT, 303.5 mg N2O m-2 for RY-CT, 86.7 mg N2O m-2 for CF-NT, 73.8 mg N2O m-2 for HV-NT, and 122.7 mg N2O m-2 for RY-NT during the fallow season. The CT, HV, and RY of no-tilled soils were reduced by 51.8, 31.7 and 59.6%, respectively (p<0.001). Our results indicate that the use of no-tillage and hairy vetch practice rather than conventional tillage and chemical fertilizer practice can decrease N2O emission.

  • The dust chute was a part of equipment in apartment which have been settled down as new residential style in this country since 1960s. However, the dust chute was destructed by results of social discussion, and it ended up old remains which cannot be found in new towns. Nowadays, chute was substituted a collecting system from extra collecting sites which were prepared near residential area. This phenomenon was caused by the poor separating collection. Since the early part of 1995, the whole vocal operating the volume-base charge system has been placed as the institution capable of recycling and separating collection of residential wastes in this country. People pursue the residential quality which is suitable to the Greenround period. Such a diverse effort corresponding to the social change can be also accomplished in the field of waste collecting transportation. In this paper, the local heating system and waste combustion site and hollow are already applied to the new residential area in the form of housing development. After investigating of the waste collecting transportation method in other countries related to such facilities, this paper represents the feasibility and applicability of pneumatic waste collection system which is used practically in the new housing complex and large facilities in other countries.

Korean-Style No-tillage Organic Agriculture on Recycled Ridge IV. Changes in Soil Microorganisms and Enzymes by Split Irrigation and Organic Matter Application in Organic Farming of Red Pepper in Plastic Film Greenhouse (두둑을 재활용한 한국형 무경운 유기 농업 IV. 분할관수와 유기물처리에 의한 시설 고추 유기재배 토양 미생물상과 토양 효소의 변화)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the changes in soil microorganisms and soil enzymes by split irrigation and organic matter application under no-tillage green house conditions. Soil bacteria and fungi abundances were higher in soybean cake fertilizer than in the soil without the soybean cake fertilizer under whole quantity irrigation. Bacteria and fungi abundances in soil increased with increasing organic fertilizer application rate. Bacteria and fungi amount in the soil increased at half division irrigation in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer compared with whole quantity irrigation. Actinomycete amount in the soil decreased with increasing soybean cake fertilizer with whole quantity irrigation while clearly increased in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer. Actinomycete amount in soil clearly increased with increasing organic fertilizer input at half division irrigation. Chitinase activity in the soil decreased in soybean cake fertilizer with increasing organic fertilizer input, while increased in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer. Chitinase activity in the soil increased at half division irrigation compared with whole quantity irrigation regardless of soybean cake fertilizer input. ${\beta}$-Glucosidase activity in the soil was higher in soybean cake fertilizer than in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer with whole quantity irrigation. ${\beta}$-Glucosidase activity in the soil increased with increasing organic fertilizer input, but decreased in above the standard level 66%. ${\beta}$-Glucosidase activity in the soil clearly increased in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer at half division irrigation compared with whole quantity irrigation. N-acetyl-${\beta}$-D-glucosaminidase activity was higher in soybean cake fertilizer than in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer with whole quantity irrigation. N-acetyl-${\beta}$-D-glucosaminidase activity in the soil increased with increasing organic fertilizer input, but decreased in above the standard level 66%. N-acetyl-${\beta}$-D-glucosaminidase activity in the soil was not significantly different at half division irrigation and whole quantity irrigation in organic fertilizer input, while increased at half division irrigation in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer. Acid phosphatase activity increased at standard level 66% in soybean cake fertilizer, while was not significantly different in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer. Spore density of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) in the soil increased with increasing organic fertilizer input at whole quantity irrigation in no-treatment of soybean cake fertilizer, while decreased above the standard level 66% in organic fertilizer input. However, spore density of AMF in the soil was not significantly different in soybean cake fertilizer regardless of input amount of organic fertilizer. Root colonization rate of AMF in red pepper roots was not significant difference at two irrigations regardless of soybean cake input.

Similitude Study on Grain Thrower (차원해석방법에 의한 Thrower의 양곡특성에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문은 Thrower의 양곡성능에 관한 예측 방정식을 차원해석법을 적용하여 유도하는데 있다. Thrower의 능률에 큰 영향을 미친다고 생각되는 인자들간의 관계식들을 Buckingham의 $\pi$이론에 의하여 구하여 졌으며 본연구에 사용한 Thrower는 현재 농촌에서 사용되고 있는 자동탈곡기의 Thrower와 유사한 형으로 제작된 것이며 실험에 사용된 시료는 벼의 경우는 통일벼와 미네히까리 품종이고 보리 품종으로서는 나맥이며, Thrower의 Impeller 직경, 속도 및 투입량을 변화시켜 가면서 각 시료에 대하여 양곡높이를 측정하여 그 예측방정식을 유도하였다. 본 논문에서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. Thrower의 양곡성능에 지대한 영향을 미친다고 생각되는 주요 인자들을 Thrower의 양정, impeller의 직경과 속도, 투입량, 곡립의 밀도, 중력가속도등이라 간주하여 Buckingham의 $\pi$이론을 적용하여 이들에 관한 $\pi$항들을 결정하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. {{{{ pi 1= { D} over {H } , pi 2= { { DN}^{ { 1} over {2 } } } over { { g}^{ { 1} over { 2} } }, pi 3= { Q} over { { g}^{ { 1} over {2 } } { rho D}^{ { 2} over {6 } } }}}}} 2. 실험에 의하여 구해진 $\pi$항문의 관계식을 합성하여 Thrower의 양곡성능에 관한 시료별 예측방정식을 구하였으며 이 식들은 아래와 같다. 통일 : $\pi$1=0.1223($\pi$2)-1.1813$\times$($\pi$3)-0.1864 미네히까리 : $\pi$1=0.1185($\pi$2)-0.9663$\times$($\pi$3)-0.1575 나맥 : $\pi$1=0.1599($\pi$2)-1.2350$\times$($\pi$3)-0.1382 3. 현재 농촌에서 사용되고 있는 자동탈곡기체 부착된 Thrower의 회전수, Impeller의 직경 및 투입량은 각각 1,100rpm, 30cm 및 150gr/sec 정도로서 이와같은 수준의 변량들을 기초로 하여 본 논문에서 유도한 예측방정식을 적용하여 Thrower의 양정을 산출한 결과, 통일벼의 경우는 2.6m정도였고 미네히까리 품종과 나맥의 양정은 각각 2.4m, 2.9m 정도였다. 이와같은 사실로부터 1m내외의 양정만으로 되어있는 자동탈곡기 Thrower의 경우 제작비절감, 소요동력 감소를 기하고 아울러 과립의 손상을 줄이기 위해서는 설계 또는 작동조건의 변경을 통해 Thrower의 회전수를 현재 수준이하로 줄일 필요가 있다고 판단되었다.

Design of adhesive wireless bookbinding machine with optimal motor control and automatic cover insertion (최적의 모터 제어 및 겉표지 자동 투입 기능을 적용한 접착식 무선 제본기 설계)

  • An adhesive wireless bookbinding machine was designed with optimal motor control and automatic cover insertion for bookbinding. The noise level was improved by modifying the thrust of the machine and changing from a compressor method to an AC induction motor control method. The automatic cover insertion function was added to improve the task speed. Motor and decelerator damage can be caused by sudden braking and acceleration of the motor rotation (clockwise and counter-clockwise), so a buffer-type locational control system was developed to secure stable movement and durability. The complicated internal design was also simplified, and the volume and weight were decreased. The results show that the noise was decreased by 57% from 135 dB to 71.7 dB, and the task speed was decreased by 57% from 18 s to 9.58 s. The automatic cover insertion was designed to supply a maximum of 130 sheets per supply.

Effect of Carbonized Biomass Derived from Pruning on Soil Carbon Pools in Pear Orchard (배 과수원에서 전정가지 유래 탄화물 시용이 토양 탄소 축적에 미치는 영향)

  • BACKGROUND: Carbonized biomass is increasingly used as a tool of soil carbon sequestration. The objective of this study was to evaluate soil carbon storage to application of carbonized biomass derived from pear tree pruning.METHODS AND RESULTS: The carbonized biomass was a mobile pyrolyzer with field scale, which a reactor was operated about 400~500℃ for 5 hours. The treatments were consisted of a control without input of carbonized biomass and two levels of carbonized biomass inputs as 6.06 Mg/ha, C-1 and 12.12 Mg/ha, C-2. It was shown that the soil carbon pools were 49.3 Mg/ha for C-1, 57.8 Mg/ha for C-2 and 40.1 Mg/ha for the control after experimental periods. The contents of accumulated soil carbon pool were significantly (P < 0.001) increased with enhancing the carbonized biomass input amount. The slopes (1.496) of the regression equations are suggested that carbon storage from the soil was increased about 0.1496 Mg/ha with every 100 kg/ha of carbonized biomass input amount.CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that application of carbonized biomass would be increased the soil carbon contents due to a highly stable C-matrix of carbonized biomass. More long-term studies are needed to be proved how long does carbon stay in orchard soils.
