Ion Permeation of PVA/Gelatin Blend Membrane Prepared Under High Electric Field (고전장하에서 제조된 PVA/Gelatin 블렌드막의 이온투과 특성)

  • Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/gelatin(GEL) blend membranes were prepared under a high electric field, and their swelling and ion permeation behaviors were investigated. For alkali metal salts such as LiCl, NaCl and KCl, the permeability coefficients were increased until the electric field of 10 kV due to the decreased tortuosity, whereas they were decreased over 10 kV owing to the increase of the degree of crystallinity. The swelling ratios of the blend membranes showed the minimum values at pH 6, while the permeability coefficients exhibited the maximum values at the same condition. The minimum swelling ratios result from the repulsion effect between charged groups in acidic or basic regions, and the maximum permeabilities result from Donnan exclusion effect in the same regions. Especially, the per-meability coefficient for KCl of the membrane increased steeply to five times at $40^{\circ}C$ than below $35^{\circ}C$.

Separation Characteristics of Oxygen Isotopes with Hydrophobic PTFE Membranes (소수성 PTFE 막의 산소동위원소 분리특성)

  • We measured the permeation characteristics of water with the hydrophobic PTFE membranes dependent on water temperature to confirm the separation of oxygen isotopes using Air Gap Membrane Distillation (AGMD) and Vacuum Enhanced Membrane Distillation (VEMD). Isotopic concentrations of $H_2^{16}O$ and $H_2^{18}O$ of the permeated water vapor were measured by Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy. Concentrations of the heavy oxygen isotopes in the permeated water vapor were decreased. Isotope separation coefficients for the hydrophobic PTFE membranes were 1.004∼1.01 depending on the experimental conditions. We observed the effects of air in membrane pores on the oxygen isotope separation. Isotope separation coefficients for the hydrophobic PTFE membranes without air in pores are higher than those for the membrane with air in pores.

  • 기후상승으로 해수면의 상승으로 인해 삼면이 바다로 둘러싸인 지형적 특성을 가진 우리나라 연안에 파도로부터 시설물의 보호가 중요한 요인으로 꼽히고 있다. 파의 에너지를 저감하여 연안에 위치한 시설물 보호에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 여기서 다루게 될 수중방파제와 다공성 소파장치는 반사와 수심의 변화에 따른 분산효과로 입사파의 에너지 감소를 통해 연안에 위치한 구조물과 배후시설에 대한 피해를 줄이는데 주목적이 있다. 사다리꼴 수중방파제의 전 후면의 기울기를 변화시키며 장주기파의 입사파와 투과파에 대한 연구가 Chang과 Liou(2004)에 의해 연구되었고, 수직 다공성 소파장치의 두께를 변화하며 반사계수와의 상관 관계에 대한 연구가 Madsen(1983)에 의해 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 해석해를 통해 수중방파제와 다공성 소파장치가 있는 경우에 투과파와 소파장치 전 후면에서의 처오름 높이의 변화에 대해 알아보고, 그에 따른 관계를 알아보고자 한다. 구간은 각각 수심이 일정한 지역과 변화하는 지역, 다공성 소파제가 있는 지역으로 설정하여 각 구간마다 해석해를 적용하여 파고를 측정하였다. 측정된 파고를 이용하여 투과율은 수중방파제를 통과한 입사파와 투과파의 관계를 통해 측정할 수 있다. 수중방파제를 투과한 파는 다공성 소파장치를 통과하면서 파고가 급감하는 현상을 다공성 소파장치 전 후면에서 측정되는 파고를 통해 알 수 있다.

Gas Permeation Properties of CO2 and CH4 for PEBAX®/Fumed Silica Hybrid Membranes (PEBAX®/fumed silica 하이브리드 분리막을 통한 CO2와 CH4의 기체투과특성)

  • The objective of this work was to investigate the gas permeation properties of CO2 and CH4 for PEBAX®/TS-530 hybrid membranes and compare with pure PEBAX®-1657 membrane. With FTIR and XRD it was possible to confirm that TS-530 was dispersed well in PEBAX® matrix. Compared with pure PEBAX® membrane, ideal separation factor for PEBAX®/TS-530 (10 wt%) hybrid membrane was enhanced a little. As the amount of TS-530 was increased, the gas permeability coefficients of both CO2 and CH4 were increased, while the ideal separation factor was decreased. This results were explained by the reduction of crystallinity of polyamide block and interchain distance caused by introduction of inorganic nanoparticles. And fumed silica might tend to agglomerate, resulting in forming nonselective nanogaps in the hybrid materials, thus the diffusivity would be enhanced at the expense of diffusivity selectivity.

Reflection and Transmission Coefficients by a Circular Pile Breakwater (원형 파일 방파제에 의한 반사율과 투과율)

  • Using the mathematical model suggested by Bennet et al.(1992), the reflection and transmission coefficients by a circular pile breakwater has been investigated in the framework of potential theory. Flow separation due to sudden contraction and expansion is generated and is the main cause of significant energy loss. Therefore, evaluation of exact energy loss coefficient is critical to enhance the reliability of mathematical model. To obtain the energy loss coefficient, 2-dimensional turbulent flow is analyzed using the FLUENT commercial code. The energy loss coefficient can be obtained from the pressure difference between upstream and downstream. Energy loss coefficient is the function of porosity and the relation equation between them is suggested throughout the curve fitting processing. To validated the suggested relation, comparison between the analytical results and the experimental results is made for four different porosities with good agreement.

  • 1. 서론 : 고분자/액정 복합막은 액정의 높은 분자운동성이 물질의확산에 기여하여 우수한 투과성을 나타낸다. 이 막은 3차원의 망상구조를 갖는 매트릭스 고분자내에 액정이 연속상으로 안정하게 분산된 상분리 구조를 가지고 있다. 이 복합막은 그러한 상분리 구조에 기인하여 자기지지형(self support LC) 복합막이라고도 한다. 복합막 중에 액정은 탄화수소가스에 대하여 높은 선택성을 나타내어 막속으로 흡착을 촉진하고 액정물질이 결정에서 액정으로 변화는 전이온도에서 투과계수가 100-200 증가한다고 보고하였다. (생략)

  • 기체혼합물의 분리및 정제기술은 에너지 절약의 관점과 새로운 기능성 고분자의 개발로 고분자막에 의한 분리법이 관심을 끌게되었다. 공기로부터 산소부화, 방사성 크세논 및 크립론의 제거, 제련소 폐가스증의 수소분리, 천연가스로부터 헬륨의 회수분야등은 실제로 산업적으로 실용화되고 있다. 그러나 고분자막은 일반적으로 투과성과 선택성이 서로 상반되는 경향을 나타내므로, 투과성과 분리성이 좋은 기능성 고분자막의 개발에 다양한 연구가 필요로 하고있다. 본 연구에서 사용한 PTFE(polytetrafluoroethylene)는 결정성 고분자로서 넓은 온도범위에서 낮은 마찰계수, 우수한 전기적 절연특성, 강한 Carbon-fluorine 겹합에 기인한 높은 열적 안정성, 화확적 불활성때문에 공업용 고분자 재료로서 독특한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 최근에 미국과 일본을 주축으로 상용화딘 공기전지(Zinc-air battery)는 PTFE막의 뛰어난 소수성과 화학적 저항성으로 수은 전지의 대체품으로 주목받고 있는데, 장기 방전시 성능 저하가 따르므로 막을 통한 산소투과성을 방전에 필요한 최소값으로 감소시키는 것이 중요한 과제가 되고있다.

Wave Field Analysis around Permeable Rubble-Mound Breakwaters (투과 사석방파제 주변의 파랑장 해석)

  • In this study, a method that leads to make a simple decision on important parameters in analysis of wave field in permeable rubble-mound, block-mound breakwater, such as penetration velocity of incident waves and resistance coefficient, is introduced. A model that could analyze wave field of permeable breakwater in harbor, by applying these methods and arbitrary transmission coefficient boundary condition to a time-dependent mild-slope equation, was introduced. The verification of the model was done by carrying out 2-D physical model test on permeable breakwater, measuring the change in water surface elevation, comparing the computation result with time series, and comparing the result gained from the 3-D physical model test on permeable block-mound breakwater in an field harbor with the computation result in terms of regional wave height ratio in a harbor.

Acoustic Characteristics of Sand Sediment with Circular Cylindrical Pores in Water (수중 원통형 다공성 모래퇴적물의 음향특성)

  • Acoustic characteristics of water sediment were experimentally studied in laboratory. Water saturated sand sediment less than the grain size of 0.5 mm diameter is uniformly distributed in an acryl box (100 mm×100mm×42mm) with material thickness 1 mm. Pores in the acryl box are modeled as the structure of cylindrical pore tubes (diameter 3 mm and length 42 mm) filled with water. Cylindrical pore tubes have porosities 0%, 5%, 11%, 18% and 26 % controlled by the tube numbers. Transmitted acoustic waves through sand sediment specimen are analyzed as the functions of porosity and frequency from 0.3 MHz to 4 MHz. Transmitted acoustic waves are mixed with the first-kind wave from whole specimen and the second-kind wane from cylindrical pore tubes. For the center frequency 1 MHz, the first kind wave is dominant but for the center frequency 2.25 MHz, the second kind wave is dominant. In the case of the first-kind wave, as the porosity increases, the transmission coefficient decreases and the sound speed decreases to the sound speed of water. As the frequency increases, the transmission coefficient decreases but the sound speed is almost constant. In the case of the second-kind wave, as the porosity increases, the transmission coefficient increases but the sound speed is almost constant. The transmission coefficient and the sound speed are almost constant as a function of frequency.

Water-Vapor Transfer Characteristics of Carrageenan-Based Edible Film (카라기난 필름의 투습 특성)

  • Water-vapor transmission rate and water-vapor permeability of carrageenan-based edible film with three different thicknesses of 0.05, 0.08 and 0.11 mm were measured to investigate the potential applicability of the films to powder foods at five different temperatures (20, 25, 30. 35 and $4^{\circ}C$) and three different relative humidities (50. 70 and 90% RH). Water-vapor transmission rate of the carrageenan-based film was gound to be 2.3 times higher than that of polyethylene (PE) film and water-vapor permeability of the film was 45-230 times higher than that of PE film. Water-ydpor permeability of the film seemed to increase linearly with the film thicknees like other hydrophilic edible films. Water-vapor transmission rate were found to be dependent on the temperature. Activation energies of the water-vapor transmission rate of the film were found to be between 7.898 and 12.8702 kj/mol depending on the film thickness. The water-vapor transmission rate of the film showed the typical kinetic compensation effect between activation energies and preexponential factors. which was proved by the linear increase in the value of logarithms of preecponential factor.
