Erosional Properties of the Newly Deposited Muddy Beds (갓 퇴적된 점토 저면의 침식특성)

  • 미세-점착성 퇴적물로 구성되는 퇴적저면의 침식특성을 해석하기 위해, 고령토 퇴적저면에 대한 침식실험이 환형수조를 이용하여 수행되었다. 현재, 퇴적저면의 침식특성 연구에 대한 국내사례는 전무한 실정으로, 본 연구는 퇴적저면에 대한 침식실험 방법 및 결과의 타당성 검증을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여, 본 연구에서는 압밀시간 조건에 따라 4가지의 서로 다른 퇴적저면이 조성되었고, 각 저면별로 저면깊이에 따른 저면밀도의 변화가 우선적으로 정밀 측정되었다. 각 퇴적저면별 침식실험으로부터는, 바닥전단응력(${\tau}_b$)의 변화에 따른 저면 침식깊이(즉, 수층 부유사 농도)의 변화 측정을 통하여, 저면깊이에 따른 저면전단강도(즉, 침식한계전단응력, ${\tau}_S$)의 변화 값들이 정량적으로 분석되었으며, 최종적으로 잉여전단응력(${\tau}_b-{\tau}_S$)과 침식률 간의 관계식이 산정되었다. 퇴적저면 침식특성에 관한 과거 해외 연구 결과와의 비교 검토를 통하여, 본 연구에서 사용 혹은 적용된 실험장치, 실험 방법 및 실험결과가 타당성이 있음이 확인되었다.

A Laboratory Study on Erosional Properties of Fine Cohesive Sediments from Saemankeum Artificial Lake (새만금 인공호 점착성 퇴적물의 침식특성에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to quantitatively estimate the erosional properties for cohesive sediment from Saemankeum artificial lake. A series of erosion tests were conducted with Chonbuk annular flume, which is the first one constructed in this country and verified with validities. Each erosion tests were conducted under a uniform bed condition but a different bed density respectively, and its critical shear stress for erosion(${\tau}_{ce}$) as well as the erosion rate coefficient (${\varepsilon}_M$) were determined quantitatively. Since the erosional properties of the cohesive sediments vary largely depending in the physico-chemical properties, such properties of Saemankeum sediments were also estimated and their effects on the erosional properties were analyzed. For Saemankeum sediments, it can be seen that ${\tau}_{ce}$ increases from $0.26N/m^2$ to $0.52N/m^2$ and ${\varepsilon}_M$ decreases exponentially from $14.28mg/cm^2\;hr$ to $6.02mg/cm^2\;hr$, as the bed density varies from $1.17g/cm^3$ to $1.34g/cm^3$. The erosional parameters of Saemankeum sediments are found to be remarkably different in quantity as compared with those for cohesive sediments from other sites. Particularly, ${\tau}_{ce}$ for Saemankeum sediments is known to be larger than that of Kunsan sediments but similar with that of Shihwa sediments, while ${\varepsilon}_M$ for Saemankeum sediments is shown to be smaller than that for Kunsan sediments.

The Laboratory Study on Estimation of Depositional Properties of Kaolinite Sediments on Saltwater Condition (염도 존재시 고령토 퇴적물의 퇴적특성 산정에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, a series of deposition tests have been conducted on saltwater condition(salinity 32 %o) using an annular flume, in order to estimate depositional properties of kaolinite sediments and to analyze the effect of the initial concentration on them. Total 37 deposition tests have been carried out in three different initial concentrations (1000, 5000, 15000 ppm) with varying the bed shear stress. From these test results, minimum shear stress (or critical shear stress for deposition; ${\tau}_{bmin}$) and the deposition rate parameters (${\sigma}_1,\;({\tau}^*_b-1)_{50},\;{\sigma}_2,\;t_{50}$) for kaolinite sediments have been quantified, and the effects of the initial concentration and salinity on depositional properties of cohesive sediments have been analyzed qualitatively. As the results, ${\tau}_{bmin},\;{\sigma}_1\;and\;({\tau}^*_b-1)_{50}$ are found to be 0.147, 0.74 and $0.65N/m^2$ respectively. Through comparing with results from previous studies, the performance of this study and tests results are shown to be good enough to verify.

A Study on the Sediment Deposition Height Computation at Gunsan Port Using EFDC (EFDC를 이용한 군산항의 유사 퇴적고 계산에 관한 연구)

  • This paper was considered on the applicability of EFDC KUNSAN_SEDTRAN MODEL (2012) to calculate Gunsan Port sediment deposition height efficiently and to use for grasping its aspects quantitatively and providing its prevention measures reasonably based on well-known 3-dimensional EFDC sediment transport module. This model was calibrated and verified with various measured field data of A Report of Hydrological Variation on Kum River Estuary (2004). Due to the model calibration and relevant literature investigation for cohesive sediment parameters, settling velocity (WS), critical deposition stress (TD), reference surface erosion rate (RSE), critical erosion stress (TE) were identified as 2.2E-04m/s, 0.20 $N/m^2$, 0.003 $g/s{\cdot}m^2$, 0.40 $N/m^2$ respectivly on this model. In order to examine the applicability and precision of the model computation, the calculated model data of sediment deposition height at 13 stations for 71 days and suspended-sediment concentration at 2 stations, inner port and outer port for 15 days were compared and analyzed with the measured field data. As a result, the model applicability for sediment deposition height simulation was evaluated as NSE coefficient 0.86 and the precision for suspended-sediment concentration computation was evaluated as time averaged relative error (RE) 23%.

An Experimental Study for Estimation of Erosion Rate of Fine Cohesive Sediments (미세-점착성 퇴적물의 침식률 산정을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • An annular flume has been constructed in order to estimate the erosion rate of fine cohesive sediments. Under an uniform bed condition, some erosion tests for Kaolinite sediments have been conducted to examine the performance of the flume and to check the validity of experimental method and results. In this study, the critical shear stress for erosion and the erosion rate coefficient are estimated and compared with the existing measurements. It is concluded that the performance of the annular flume is good enough to conduct erosion tests and the experimental method and results are valid.

Analyses on Local-Seasonal Variations of Erosional Properties of Cohesive Sediments in Keum Estuary (금강 하구역 점착성 퇴적물 침식특성의 지엽적·계절적 변화 해석)

  • The purpose of this study is to quantify the erosion parameters of cohesive sediments in Keum Estuary. This study also involves the examinations on the local/seasonal variation of them in Keum Estuary and on their spatial variation comparing with those of other sites. As erosional properties of cohesive sediments are in general influenced largely by the physico-chemical properties of cohesive sediments themselves, this study also involves the qualitative analyses on the impact by the physico-chemical properties. Erosion tests have been performed under the uniform bed condition using the Chonbuk annular flume and total 16 tests have been carried out with various bed densities and bottom shear stresses. Experimental results show that the critical shear stress for erosion varies in the range of $0.19{\sim}0.41N/m^2$ and the coefficient of erosion rate varies in the range of $54.26{\sim}7.70mg/cm^2{\cdot}hr$, over the corresponding bulk-density range of $1.14{\sim}1.38g/cm^3$. While erosion parameters estimated for Keum estuary sediments are found to be remarkably different in quantity compared with those for cohesive sediments from other sites, their local/seasonal variabilities within Keum Estuary are found to be insignificant.

  • 본 연구는 시화호 표층에 분포하는 점착성 퇴적물의 침식특성을 정량적으로 산정하고 산정된 침식특성의 지엽적 변화 및 타 지역 침식특성 결과와의 비교/분석을 통한 공간적 변화 해석을 목적으로 환형수조를 이용한 침식 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 퇴적물 자체의 물리 화학적 특성 및 해수 특성이 침식특성에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 시화호 점착성 퇴적물에 대한 물리 화학적 특성 및 해수 특성에 대한 분석이 수행되었다. 침식실험은 균일저면 조건에서 3개 지점에 대해 지점별로 $5{\sim}7$회씩 총 17회의 실험이 수행되었으며, 본 연구를 통하여 도출되어지는 시화호 점착성 퇴적물의 침식특성 매개변수들은 시화호 해역에서의 수층 탁도 분포 및 세굴/퇴적량 산정 등을 위한 수치모형실험 시에 기초 입력 자료로 크게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

A Two-dimensional Numerical Simulation of Cohesive Sediment Transport in the Mokpo Coastal Zone (목포해역의 점착성 퇴적물 이동에 관한 2차원 수치모의)

  • Sedimentary environment in coastal zone has been changing due to a large number of coastal structures and continuous coastal development. As a result, the environment has been changing. In particular, the economic and environmental damage can occur due to cohesive sediment transport closely related with the fate of pollutants. Due to large sea wall construction the ebb dominance in the Mokpo coastal waters has been clearer. Cohesive sediment transport was simulated by the EFDC model. The simulated SS showed good agreements with the observed SS. From the sensitivity analysis of sediment parameters, we found out that the erosion rate, the critical shear stresses for erosion and deposition, and the settling velocity are important factors in cohesive sediment transport modeling.

  • 본 논문에서는 실내에서 실시한 Filtration실험을 통하여 지하수 흐름하에서 이탈한 풍화 잔류토의 세립자가 흙-토목섬유 복합체를 통과하면서 발생하는 이동 (Transportation), 퇴적 (Deposition), 그리고 폐색 (Clogging)되는 과정을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 한국의 풍화 잔류토에 적합한 토목섬유 배수재의 새로운 설계기준을 제시함으로써 풍화 잔류토상에 축조되는 터널 구조물 시공시 광범위하게 사용되고 있는 토목섬유재인 부직포의 투수 및 배수특성과 세립토사에 의한 폐색 (Clogging)영향을 분석할 수 있게 되었다.

The Quantitative Estimation of Erosion Rate Parameters for Cohesive Sediments from Keum Estuary (금강 하구역 점착성 퇴적물에 대한 침식률 매개변수의 정량적 산정)

  • The purpose of this study is to quantitatively estimate the erosional properties for cohesive sediments on Keum Estuary. Then the spatial variation was evaluated, through analyzing and comparing the seasonal variation of the erosional properties in Keum Estuary with that of the erosional properties in the other sites. As erosional properties of cohesive sediments are also influenced largely by basic physico-chemical property of cohesive sediments themselves, the impact that the basic physico-chemical property has on the erosional properties is analyzed in this study. Erosional tests are performed under the condition of uniform beds. Total 8 times of tests using an annular flume are also conducted in a location, low times respectively by seasons: the fall, winter. Experimental results of erosional tests show that the critical shear stress for erosion varies in the range of $0.12{\sim}0.36N/m^2$ and the coefficient of erosion rate varies in the range of $120.91{\sim}6.72mg/cm^2{\cdot}hr$, over the corresponding bulk-density range $1.15{\sim}1.34g/cm^3$. Although the calculated parameters of erosional properties are remarkably different in quantity compared with those of other cohesive sediments(lake Okeechobee) and Kaolinite, their seasonal variabilities within Keum Estuary appear to be insignificant.
