Analysis for Operation Point Change in Mode Transition at the Turbopump-Gas Generator Coupled Test (터보펌프-가스발생기 연계시험의 모드 변환 중간 작동점 분석)

  • The characteristics at the intermediate operation point of the turbopump-gas generator(TP-GG) coupled test were investigated by analytical method. The pump outlet pressure, gas generator mixture ratio, gas generator pressure, and temperature were examined considering risk minimization of test. The engine system shows different behavior from the TP-GG coupled test at the intermediate operation point since the combustion pressure feeds back to the flow rate in the lines. The advanced valve changes in the combustor line helps less risky mode transition.

  • Inkjet printhead may have a lot of nozzles to increase productivity as a manufacturing tool. So, the uniformity of jetting performance among a lot of nozzles has been one of the key issues in inkjet technology In this study, we investigated the cross-talk effect which should be reduced for uniform jetting performance among a lot of nozzles. Due to the cross-talk, the jetting performance of a nozzle can be affected when neighboring nozzles are firing. For experimental study, we used commercial inkjet head SE-128 from Dimatix. To understand the cross-talk effect of SE-128 head, we measured the change in jetting speed of a nozzle when neighboring nozzles are jetting. The measured jetting speed was compared to the case of one nozzle jetting. Also, we used laser vibrometer to measure change in pressure wave due to cross-talk. As a result of the cross-talk, the jetting speed can become faster or sometimes slower depending on firing nozzle location. If the all nozzle are jetting, the jetting speed of a nozzle became slower because the pressure wave for jetting is reduced.

  • This paper develops a pump system for patient with chronic pain or cancer. The pump module is consists of two micro-valve and membrane. The micro-valve is operated by a solenoid. With two solenoid valves which are connected via a drug transport line, the inlet and outlet are completely blocked. A silicon rubber membrane located between the two valves makes the flow-rate constant without any backflow. This pump module can control the flow-rate of drugs by controlling the time that the valves are opened and closed. The reservoir consists of a drug chamber and a gas chamber. As the gas chamber encloses the drug chamber, propellant gas which is injected into the gas chamber pressurizes the drug chamber regardless of volume of the drug chamber. To design the pump module, analysis a constant efficiency test, and accuracy test for the pump module were conducted.

  • Refrigeration and air-conditioning compressors used in home appliances, including refrigerators and air conditioners, are typically hermetic-type reciprocating compressors. Because the shell is sealed by welding, it should be designed to have a semi-permanent life. The energy consumption of a hermetic-type reciprocating compressor is low, but because it operates continuously to maintain a constant temperature inside the refrigerator, it has a certain base load. In this type of compressor, the driving motor operates at a high speed (about 3,000 - 3,600 rpm), which causes valve damage, friction, wear, and high-frequency noise. Many studies have been conducted to solve these problems. To enhance the reliability and efficiency of the reciprocating compressor, the design conditions and operating environment of journal bearings should be considered. Dynamic behavior analysis should be carried out in terms of the discharge pressure. The results showed that the load (discharge pressure) increases in the forward lookup zone and decreases in the backward lookup zone. When the revolution speed is increased, the maximum load decreases in the region where the maximum load operates.

  • 냉매 충전량과 이차유체의 입구조건은 $CO_2$용 열펌프시스템의 성능실험에서 중요한 제어변수이다. 따라서, 열펌프사이클의 적용과 난방성능 향상을 위해 제어변수의 특성을 조사하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서, $CO_2$용 열펌프 사이클의 성능 실험은 여러 가지 냉매 충전량에서 이차유체 입구조건에 변화를 주어 수행 되었다. 실험결과, 난방COP는 냉매 충전량이 증가함에 따라 1158g의 냉매 충전량에서 최대가 되었다가 감소하는 경향이 나타나며, 이는 COP가 최대가 되는 냉매충전량이 존재함을 나타낸다. 또한, 난방성능은 가스쿨러내 이차유체의 질량유량의 증가에 따라 증가하였다. 가스냉각기내 2차유체의 입구은도가 $10^{\circ}C$에서 $40^{\circ}C$로 증가하면, 난방용량, 압축일량, 토출압력은 각각 -8.57%, -35.89%, 32.78%로 변화했으며, 증발기 2차유체의 입구 온도가 감소하였을 때 난방COP는 감소하는 경향을 보였다.

Design of Vane Rotary Air Compressor for Fuel Cell Application (연료전지용 베인 로타리 공기 압축기 설계)

  • Air supply is required to the cathode of fuel cells for the provision of oxygen to produce electricity through chemical reaction with hydrogen in the cell, and supplied air should be free of impurities such as oil mist and tiny particles separated from sliding surfaces. Hence, air compressor for fuel cell air supply must be oil-less type and have no severe sliding surfaces inside. This paper introduces the concept of single-vane type rotary air compressor whose structure is particularly suitable for the fuel cell application: sliding action of the vane against the cylinder wall, which causes severe friction in the conventional vane rotary compressors, is made to be prevented by attaching the vane to the driving shaft with the compliant device between the vane and the rotor in this new design. For 2 kW fuel cell application, preliminary design has been carried out, and its performance has been estimated by using computer simulation program: for discharge pressure of 2 bar, the volumetric, adiabatic, and mechanical efficiencies are calculated to be 82.5%, 92.5%, and 96.3%, respectively.

  • Noises from diesel engine are the major issues for noise pollution as well as affect customers' purchasing needs to vehicles powered by diesel engine. This study investigates to screen-out main factors that contribute to noises from diesel engine using VGT 2000cc engine developed recently. Changes of fuel temperature, intake temperature and the presence of three way catalyst don't affect the 'Engine Radiation Noise' and the solely three way catalyst influence on the 'Tail Pipe Noise'. Especially, there are no effects of the presence of three way catalyst on torque, which is main subject that should be considered in secondary study.

  • For the purpose of development of an effective process for purified CHMI particles, a series of experimental researches on the synthesis of CHMI from CHMAIE, purification and precipitation of CHMI were preformed. It is turned out that n-heptane reflux imidation is more beneficial than toluene put-out imidation not only to the synthesis but to the precipitation of CHMI. By washing the synthetic CHMI with cold n-heptane twice, purified CHMI with 99.7% purity could be obtained at the cost of 11.7% weight loss. And CMHI particles were effectively prepared by spouting molten CHMI through the spiral nozzle with 3 mm diameter under the pressure of $1.5{\sim}2.0kg/cm^2$.

  • This study is a first step toward reducing surge pressure, and it has another purpose, which is to developing an analysis model which can closely analyze a hydraulic circuit and be used in design. For development of analysis model, SimulationX, a commercial program, is used. The study progress methods are as follows. By analyzing the structure and operating mechanisms of each part of the hydraulic system of the pump truck and referring its parameters, develop a single component model. Assemble the developed single component model, and make an overall analysis the model. By comparing the similarities between the developed model and the actual system's test results, validate the reliability of the analysis model.

Performance Analysis and Test of the Small Piezoelectric-Hydraulic Pump Brake System (소형 압전유압펌프 브레이크 시스템의 성능해석 및 실험)

  • In this paper, the performance analysis and the experiment of the brake system using the small piezoelectric-hydraulic pump were performed. Initially, the 3-D modeling of the brake load components was performed for the construction of the brake system. Subsequently, modeling using the commercial program AMESim was performed. A floating caliper model was used as a load for modeling the brake system. Through the AMESim simulation, load pressure, check valve displacement and flow rate under no load state were calculated, and performance analysis and changes in dynamic characteristics were confirmed by adding brake load. A jig for use in fixing the brake load during performance test was manufactured. The flow rate was assessed under no load condition and load pressure formation experiments were performed and compared with simulation results. Experimental results revealed the maximum load pressure as about 73bar at 130Hz and the maximum flow rate as about 203cc/min at 145Hz, which satisfied the requirement of small- and medium-sized UAV braking system. In addition, simulation results revealed that the load pressure and discharge flow rate were within 6% and 5%, respectively. Apparently, the modeling is expected to be effective for brake performance analysis.
