Case Analysis of Bible Visualization based on Text Data Traits -Focused on Content, Structure, Quotation of Text- (텍스트 데이터의 특성에 따른 성경 시각화 사례 분석 -텍스트의 내용적, 구조적 특성 및 인용 정보를 중심으로-)

  • Text visualization begins with understanding text itself which is material of visual expression. To visualize any text data, sufficient understanding about characteristics of the text first and the expressive approaches can be decided depending on the derived unique characteristics of the text. In this research we aimed to establish theoretical foundation about the approaches for text visualization by diverse examples of text visualization which are derived through the various characteristics of the text. To do this, we chose the 'Bible' text which is well known globally and digital data of it can be accessed easily and thus diverse text visualization examples exist and analyzed the examples of the bible text visualization. We derived the unique characteristics of text-content, structure, quotation- as criteria for analyzing and supported validity of analysis by adopting at least 2-3 examples for each criterion. In the result, we can comprehend that the goals and expressive approaches are decided depending on the unique characteristics of the Bible text. We expect to build theoretical method for choosing the materials and approaches by analyzing more diverse examples with various point of views on the basis of this research.

  • In this study, we contemplated types, essence, characteristics of text data which is material for visual expression of text visualization part of data visualization research and also analysed the multidirectional means of expressive approach for it. Studies of text visualization are spread dramastically under the influence of computer development, open data, wide use of visualization tools, etc. For these reasons, text visualization works have been creating as art works or output of research through various inter-discipline convergent research with engineering, art, humanities, sociology, etc. Nevertheless the theoretical studies on text data itself and its visualization, and also systematic analysis of its approach are rarely made. Data is target of understanding and interpretation, and it has infinite information and possibility with process and approach for it. Considering the attainable status of data in future human society, text visualization which is convergent academic field of study starting with understanding and interpretation of data needs further methodological research and theoretical accumulate.

  • 생물 의료 분야에서 정보의 양이 아주 빠르게 증가하고 있다. 이러한 방대한 양의 정보에서 유용한 정보를 추출하기 위해 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 이용한 연구들이 많이 진행되어 왔다. 그렇지만 이렇게 뽑아진 정보조차 그 양이 방대하고, 또한 텍스트로 되어 있기 때문에 직관적으로 이해하기가 어렵다. 따라서 이러한 정보들을 좀 더 직관적으로 이해하기 위해서는 정보 시각화 시스템이 필수적이다. 최근 들어 이러한 정보 시각화에 대한 연구가 많이 진행되었으나 이러한 시각화 정보조차 너무나 방대하기 때문에 사용자가 필요로 하는 정보를 여과해 주는 방법이 필요하다. 그리고 시각화 시스템에서의 지식 발견을 위한 방법을 제공하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 생물 의료 정보의 텍스트 시각화에 초점을 맞추어 생물 의료 정보의 효과적인 표현 방법과 지식 발견을 위한 직관적인 인터페이스를 제안하고자 한다.

A Study on Rhythm Information Visualization Using Syllable of Digital Text (디지털 텍스트의 음절을 이용한 운율 정보 시각화에 관한 연구)

  • As the information age grows rapidly, the amount of digital texts has been increasing as well. It has brought an increasing of visualization case in order to figure out lots of digital texts. Existing visualized design of digital text is merely concentrating on figuration of subject word through adoption of stemming algorithm and word frequency extraction, prominence of meaning of text, and connection in between sentences. So it is a fact that expression of rhythm that can visualize sentimental feeing of digital text was insufficient. Syllable is a phoneme unit that can express rhythm more efficiently. In sentences, syllable is a most basic pronunciation unit in pronouncing word, phase and sentence. On this basis, accent, intonation, length of rhythm factor and others are based on syllable. Sonority, which is most closely associated with definitions of syllable, is expressed through air flow of igniting lung and acoustic energy that is specified kinetic energy into sonority. Seen from this perspective, this study examines phonologic definition and characteristics based on syllable, which is properties of digital text, and research the way to visualize rhythm through diagram. After converting digital text into phonetic symbol by the experiment, rhythm information are visualized into images using degree of resonance, which was started from rhythm in all languages, and using syllable establishment of digital text. By visualizing syllable information, it provides syllable information of digital text and express sentiment of digital text through diagram to assist user's understanding by systematic formula. Therefore, this study is aimed at planning for easy understanding of text's rhythm and realizing visualization of digital text.

  • 본 연구는 거시적 빅데이터 인문학과 미시적 언어 텍스트 검색 시스템을 구축하고, 이를 통해서 언어를 통한 문화의 역동적 변화를 시간적 순서에 따라 살펴보고자 한다. 연구의 최종적인 목표는 문화도 생물체처럼 변화하는 존재라 여기고 그 구성요소들을 연구한다는 뜻인 '문화체학(文化體學; Culturomics)'과 같은 '인문학 + 정보과학 + 사회과학' 등등의 다학문간의 융합적 연구에 있다. 이 시스템을 통해서 인류 역사의 기록인 텍스트 빅데이터를 통한 인문학적 성찰을 시각화하고 있다. 이러한 구글의 업적은 인문학과 정보기술의 융합을 통해서 인문학 자체의 지평을 넓히고, 사회과학을 변형시키고, 산업과 상아탑 사이의 관계를 재조정하는데 있다.

  • Text visualization is one of sectors in data visualization. This study is on methods to visually represent text's contents, structure, and form aspects based on various analytic techniques about wide range of text data. In this study -as a text visualization study-, 1) a method to find out the characteristics of a book's genre using words in the text of the book was looked into, 2) elements of visualization of a book's genre based on verification through an experiment were drew, and 3) the ways to intuitionally and efficiently visualize this were explained. According to visualization suggested by this study, first, actual genre of a book can be understood based on words used in the book. Second, with which genre is closed to the book can be found out with one glance through images of visualization. Moreover, the characteristics of complicated genres included in a book can be understood. Furthermore, the level of closeness (similarity) of a genre -which is found to be a representative genre using the number of dots, curvature of a curve, and brightness in the image- can be assumed. Finally, the outcome of this study can be used for a variety of fields including book customizing service such as a book recommendation system that provides images of personal preference books or genres through application of books favored by individual customers.

  • As the importance of big data and related technologies continues to grow in the industry, it has become highlighted to visualize results of processing and analyzing big data. Visualization of data delivers people effectiveness and clarity for understanding the result of analyzing. By the way, visualization has a role as the GUI (Graphical User Interface) that supports communications between people and analysis systems. Usually to make development and maintenance easier, these GUI parts should be loosely coupled from the parts of processing and analyzing data. And also to implement a loosely coupled architecture, it is necessary to adopt design patterns such as MVC (Model-View-Controller) which is designed for minimizing coupling between UI part and data processing part. On the other hand, big data can be classified as structured data and unstructured data. The visualization of structured data is relatively easy to unstructured data. For all that, as it has been spread out that the people utilize and analyze unstructured data, they usually develop the visualization system only for each project to overcome the limitation traditional visualization system for structured data. Furthermore, for text data which covers a huge part of unstructured data, visualization of data is more difficult. It results from the complexity of technology for analyzing text data as like linguistic analysis, text mining, social network analysis, and so on. And also those technologies are not standardized. This situation makes it more difficult to reuse the visualization system of a project to other projects. We assume that the reason is lack of commonality design of visualization system considering to expanse it to other system. In our research, we suggest a common information model for visualizing text data and propose a comprehensive and reusable framework, TexVizu, for visualizing text data. At first, we survey representative researches in text visualization era. And also we identify common elements for text visualization and common patterns among various cases of its. And then we review and analyze elements and patterns with three different viewpoints as structural viewpoint, interactive viewpoint, and semantic viewpoint. And then we design an integrated model of text data which represent elements for visualization. The structural viewpoint is for identifying structural element from various text documents as like title, author, body, and so on. The interactive viewpoint is for identifying the types of relations and interactions between text documents as like post, comment, reply and so on. The semantic viewpoint is for identifying semantic elements which extracted from analyzing text data linguistically and are represented as tags for classifying types of entity as like people, place or location, time, event and so on. After then we extract and choose common requirements for visualizing text data. The requirements are categorized as four types which are structure information, content information, relation information, trend information. Each type of requirements comprised with required visualization techniques, data and goal (what to know). These requirements are common and key requirement for design a framework which keep that a visualization system are loosely coupled from data processing or analyzing system. Finally we designed a common text visualization framework, TexVizu which is reusable and expansible for various visualization projects by collaborating with various Text Data Loader and Analytical Text Data Visualizer via common interfaces as like ITextDataLoader and IATDProvider. And also TexVisu is comprised with Analytical Text Data Model, Analytical Text Data Storage and Analytical Text Data Controller. In this framework, external components are the specifications of required interfaces for collaborating with this framework. As an experiment, we also adopt this framework into two text visualization systems as like a social opinion mining system and an online news analysis system.

  • 컨텍스트폰은 사용자의 주변 상황을 실시간으로 수집하고 시각화하는 휴대전화이며 인간의 여섯 번째 감각 도구로써 신체의 일부가 되고 있다. 이에 따라 사용자에 특화된 상황 인지 기능을 지원하는 모바일 플랫폼 기술이 많이 연구되고 있다. 하지만 모바일 기기간의 상호작용이 아니라 사용자간의 소셜 인터랙션을 지원하는 모바일 플랫폼 연구는 미비하며 감정 등의 고수준 정보는 지원하지 않는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 감정을 포함한 다양한 정보들을 지원하는 컨텍스트폰 플랫폼을 이용하여 사용자간의 감정을 공유 할 수 있는 컨텍스트폰에 대해 기술한다. 또한 사용자의 감정을 인식하기 위해 컨텍스트폰 플랫폼은 휴대전화 카메라를 이용하여 사용자의 얼굴이미지를 수집하고 감정인식기로 전달한다. 감정인식기는 사용자의 얼굴을 특징추출하여 패턴인식에 적용되는 분류분석 알고리즘을 통해 사용자의 감정을 알아내고 컨텍스트 서버를 매개체로 사용자간 감정을 전달하며 모바일 화면에 시각화한다.

English Bible Text Visualization Using Word Clouds and Dynamic Graphics Technology (단어 구름과 동적 그래픽스 기법을 이용한 영어성경 텍스트 시각화)

  • A word cloud is a visualization of word frequency in a given text. The importance of each word is shown in font size or color. This plot is useful for quickly perceiving the most prominent words and for locating a word alphabetically to determine its relative prominence. With dynamic graphics, we can find the changing pattern of prominent words and their frequencies according to the changing selection of chapters in a given text. We can define the word frequency matrix. In this matrix, rows are chapters in text and columns are ranks corresponding to word frequency about the words in the text. We can draw the word frequency matrix plot with this matrix. Dynamic graphic can indicate the changing pattern of the word frequency matrix according to the changing selection of the range of ranks of words. We execute an English Bible text visualization using word clouds and dynamic graphics technology.
