Design of a Propeller Type Rim-Driven Axial-Flow Turbine for a Micro-Hydropower System (마이크로 수력 발전을 위한 프로펠러형 림구동 축류 터빈 설계)

  • A design method for a propeller type rim-driven axial-flow turbine for a micro-hydropower system is presented. The turbine consists of pre-stator, impeller and post-stator, where the pre-stator plays a role as a guide vane to provide circumferential velocity to the on-coming flow, and the impeller as a rotational power generator by absorbing angular momentum of the flow. BEM(Blade Element Method), which is based on the turbine Euler equation, is employed to design the pre-stator and impeller blades. NACA 66 thickness form and a=0.8 mean camber line, which is widely accepted as a marine propeller blade section, is used for the pre-stator and turbine blade section. A CFD method, derived from the discretization of the RANS equations, is applied for the analysis of the designed turbine system. The design conditions of the turbine is confirmed by the CFD calculation. Turbine characteristic curve is calculated by the CFD method, in order to provide the performance characteristics at off-design operation conditions. The proposed procedures for the design of a propeller type rim-driven axial-flow turbine are established and confirmed by the CFD analysis.

  • 본 연구에서는 저압 증기 터빈블레이드의 안전성 확보를 위하여 작용응력 및 강도의 변동성을 고려한 확률론적 해석을 수행하였다. 정상상태에서 작용응력은 이론 및 유한요소해석에 의해서 얻을 수 있으며, 최대 von-Mises 응력은 215.4MPa이다. 회전굽힘 하중하에서의 피로한도는 응력비 R= -1에서 계단식 시험법을 이용하여 구하였으며, 이의 확률론적 특성에 가장 적합한 분포는 3 모수 와이블 분포이다. 그리고 신뢰성에 미치는 다양한 인자들의 영향은 영향계수(sensitivity factor)를 이용하여 정량적으로 평가하였다.

  • There is a growing interest in engine diagnostic technology for gas turbine engines. An engine simulation program, precisely simulating the engine performance, is required in order to apply it to the engine diagnosis technology for engine health monitoring. In particular, the simulation program can predict not only design point performance but also off-design point and partial load performance in accurate. So the engine simulation program for the 2-spool separate flow type turbofan engine was developed and the JT9D-7R4G engine of PW(Pratt & Whitney) was analyzed. The steady-sate performance analysis is conducted at both design and off-design points in flight path and the differences between analysis results of takeoff and cruise conditions are compared. The effect of Reynold's correction method was analyzed as a scaling method of the engine component performance. The simulation results was compared with NPSS.

  • Recently, small hydropower attracts attention because of its clean, renewable and abundant energy resources to develop. However, suitable turbine type is not determined yet in the range of small hydropower and it is necessary to study for the effective turbine type. Therefore, a 80kW-Class cross-flow turbine is adopted in this study because of its simple structure and high possibility of applying to small hydropower. The result shows that as effective head increases, tangential and radial flow velocities increase and thus, the increased tangential velocity contributes to the increase of angular momentum and output torque.

  • The vertical-axis tidal current turbine (VAT) consisting of blades, struts to support blades, shaft, generator and so forth requires anti-resonance design against fluid fluctuation forces generated on blades to ensure its stable operation. In this study, a free vibration analysis program based on the finite element method is developed for efficient anti-resonance design of VAT in the preliminary design stage. In the finite element modeling, the VAT structure components are regarded as beam elements. Added masses due to the fluid and structure interaction of VAT evaluated by empirical formulas are considered as lumped mass elements. In addition, input parameters required for the analysis can be automatically prepared from the principal dimensions of VAT to make anti-resonance design more convenient. The validity of applied methods is verified by the comparison of the numerical results obtained from MSC/Nastran and the developed program for two VAT models.

  • In this study, we discussed the weight reducing of 2 MW class of wind turbine rotor shaft by optimizing design method. The optimal design was applied to obtain get an optimized structure and parameters for the base structure using FEA and DOE. The results were verified by comparing the maximum von Mises stresses and maximum volume in the case of the existing design with those in the case of the optimized design. It was shown that the weight of a base structure can be reduced by about 23 %.

항공기용 ACM(Air Cycle Machine) 설계 및 공력성능시험

  • 본 연구는 항공기용 환경제어계통의 시스템관련 제반 기술 및 그 핵심요소인 ACM(Air Cycle Machine)시제기의 개발을 통하여 국내의 여런 항공기개발 사업과 관련하여 급속히 요구되고 있는 항공기의 sub-system을 국산화할 수 있는 기술축적을 목적으로 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 항공기용 환경제어장치(Environmental Control System : ECS)를 개발대상으로 하여 그 핵심부품인 Air Cycle Machine의 시제품을 순수 국내 기술로 설계/제작하였고, 자체 개발한 성능시험기를 이용하여 성능시험을 수행하였으며 또한 ACM 성능을 검증하기 위하여 기존제품의 자료와 비교하였다. 향후 이 시스템의 상품화를 위해서는 구동축의 무윤활 베어링에 대한 연구가 병행되어 주유동의 오일오염을 국소화시키는 시스템보완이 요구된다. 항공기용 환경제어장치(ECS)의 시스템해석부터 ACM의 공력/구조설계, 제작, 시험등 일련의 개발과정을 통하여 시스템에 대한 해석능력이 향상되었고, 그 핵심요소인 ACM의 순수 국산화개발이 가능하다는 판단을 내릴 수 있었다. 또한, ACM을 구성하고 있는 원심압축기와 반경류형 터빈의 제작 및 시험법은 유사 시스템 및 일반 터보기계류의 국산화개발에 유용하게 이용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a design method of tower service lift for offshore wind power system, as well as to conduct structure analysis of the service lift system. The service lift system will be built in the internal area of tower of the offshore wind power system. Design and structure analysis for the tower service lift system are conducted to clarify the stability and reliability of the system. Main objective of the design is to secure sufficient capability of transportation of workers and equipment with satisfactory performance within the designed tolerance limit. Total deformation and equivalent stress of the lift system by external load are examined using the results of structure analysis.

  • High pressure components of a gas turbine engine must operate for a long life under severe conditions in order to maximize the performance and minimize the maintenance cost. Enhanced cooling design, thermal barrier coating techniques, and nickel-base superalloys have been applied for overcoming them and furthermore, material modeling, finite element analysis, statistical techniques, and etc. in design stage have been utilized widely. This article aims to evaluate the effects on the low cycle fatigue life of the high pressure turbine nozzle caused by different turbine inlet temperature profiles and installation conditions and to investigate the most favorable operating condition to the turbine nozzle. To achieve it, the structural analysis, which utilized the results of conjugate heat transfer analysis as loading boundary conditions, was performed and its results were the input for the assessment of low cycle fatigue life at several critical zones.

  • 최근의 선박 추진시스템은 기존의 엔진, 터빈 둥의 구동 원에서 선박의 발전기로부터 선체 외부의 프로펠러와 일체형으로 구성된 모터를 구동하여 추진하는 전기추진식으로 변화되고 있다. 특히, 히토류계 영구자석재질의 발달로 인하여 대형선박의 추진을 위한 대용량 자석계자형 BLDC와 영구자석형 동기전동기의 설계 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 여전히 MW급 대용량 BLDC 추진전동기의 설계 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 5MW급 대용량 BLDC 추진전동기 설계 연구를 진행하였으며, 그 결과 슬롯 수에 의한 고정자 형상이 다른 3가지 타입의 인버터 내장형 MW급 모델을 설계하였다. 그리고 이들 모델들을 정자계 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석함으로써 고정자 형상에 따른 회전특성을 분석하였고, 이를 바탕으로 본 설계 조건에 적합한 고정자 형상 설계 방향을 제시하였다.
