Visualization of Tunneling Using a BIM-based 3D Tunnel Model (BIM 기반 3D 터널 모델 가시화에 관한 연구)

  • An investigation of the tunnel face, as well as related measurement data collected during tunneling, is necessary for rock classification and to determine tunnel stability and the cost efficiency of tunneling. However, systematic management and efficient use of such data have yet to be successfully implemented domestically, and the number of experts in this field in Korea is limited. Thus, measures to develop and implement systematic management and effective use of data and expertise are urgently needed. This study aimed to develop measures to efficiently provide online tunnel design and construction data using a building information model (BIM)-based data visualization approach, based on an integrated 3D tunnel model generation module and a web viewer module. The development technology was verified through ○○ tunnel design and construction. Directions for future study and system improvement are proposed.

A Study on Ventilation Effects on Smoke Behavior in Rescue Station for Tunnel Fires (철도터널 화재시 구난역 내의 연기거동에 미치는 배연효과에 관한 연구)

  • The present study investigates the ventilation effects on smoke spreading with the rescue stations. Experiments for tunnel fires were carried out for n-heptane pool em at different fire locations, and the heat release rates (HRR) were obtained by addition, using the commercial code (FLUENT), the present article presents numerical results for smoke behavior in railway tunnels with rescue station, and it uses the MVHS (Modified Volumetric Heat Source) model for estimation of combustion products resulting from the fire source determined from the HRR measurement. As a result, it is found that smoke propagation is prevented successfully by the fire doors located inside the cross-passages and especially, the smoke behavior in the accident tunnel can be controlled through the ventilation system because of substantial change in smoke flow direction in the cross-passages.

  • Various components including wave scattering, wave passage, and site amplification effects cause the ground motion to vary spatially. The spatially varying ground motion can significantly influence the dynamic response of longitudinal structures such as bridges and tunnels. While its effect on bridges has been extensively studied, there is a lack of study on its effect on underground tunnels. This paper develops a new procedure for simulating the tunnel response under spatially varying ground motion. The procedure utilizes the longitudinal displacement profile, which is developed from spatially variable ground motion time histories. The longitudinal displacement profile is used to perform a series of pseudo-static three dimensional finite element analyses. Results of the analyses show that the spatially variable ground motion cause longitudinal bending of the tunnel and can induce substantial axial stress on the tunnel lining. The effect can be significant at boundaries at which the material properties of the ground change in the longitudinal direction.

  • 지금은 이미 지하수가 말라버리고 건조한 동굴이 되었지만 프린스 맘모스 동굴과 같이 큰 포화수대 기원의 터널이나 지하천이 사행하면서 거의 수평으로 발달한 장대한 동굴계는 미국의 대동굴 지대의 전형이라고 할 수 있다. 이 켄터키를 중심으로 북쪽은 펜실베니아, 남쪽은 알라바마까지의 애팔레치아 지방까지 펼쳐진다. 대조적으로 북조지아의 에리존즈동굴은 이 지방의 동굴과 달리 일직선으로 뻗어져 있다. 10이상의 길이로, 양단은 거대한 수직동굴로 되어 있으며 피지온산의 밑을 관통하고 있다. 입구의 수직동굴은 환타스틱 피트, 인크레져블 피트라 불리우며 양쪽모두 150M의 깊이이다. 미국동부의 동굴은 이차생성물은 일반적으로 그렇게 발달되어 있지 않은 것이 하나의 특징이다. 그러나 예외도 있는데 버지니아의 루뤠이 동굴에는 멋진 생성물을 볼 수 있고 관광동굴화 되어 있다.(중략)

Feasibility test on EDZ detection by using borehole radar survey

  • Borehole radar reflection surveys were carried out in the horizontal borehole to detect EDZ while constructing the tunnel for the research facility of the nuclear waste disposal in Korea. The horizontal borehole has been bored at a length of 35 m from shelter to be parallel with the tunnel which would be planed. While the tunnel has been constructing with the explosive excavation, the borehole radar reflection surveys carried out 5 times with the interval of 2 or 4 days for monitoring EDZ. The most typical change of the reflection event resulted from the face of the wall of tunnel which had been produced newly by the excavation of the tunnel daily, EDZ has been detected with constructing images of difference between two measurement stages, and also the change of EDZ through the time has been done, which is due to the generation of crack and weakening of the rock strength of the face of the tunnel's wall near previous portion of the face of a blind end of tunnel according to explosive excavation.

  • Clogging phenomenon is one of the important problems in deteriorated tunnels, and it caused inhibition of drainage system by long-term behavior. Clogging phenomenon is mainly composed of $CaCO_3$ in the form calcite. Calcite is generally created by the reaction of $Ca(OH)_2$ with $CO_2$ emitted from vehicles. The structure of deteriorated tunnels was simulated and the setting of outflow from drainage pipe was observed in this study. The test was experienced by changing the slope of drainage system because existing drainage system was pracitced almost below $5^{\circ}$. As a result, in case of drainage system's slope is $2^{\circ}$, Quantum Stick has an effect for prohibiting scale in drainage system, but magnetic treatment was not effective. As a result, in case of drainage system's slope is $5^{\circ}$, both technologies were effective for prohibiting scale in drainage system, but Quantum Stick was especially more effective than magnetic treatment.

  • This paper concerns the development of a knowledge-based tunnel design system within the framework of artifical neural networks(ANNs). The system is aimed at expediting a routine tunnel design works such as computation of segment lining body forces and stability analysis of selected cross section. A number of sub-modules for computation of segment lining body forces and stability analysis were developed and implemented to the system. It is shown that the ANNs trained with the results of 3D numerical analyses can be generalized with a reasonable accuracy, and that the ANN based tunnel design concept is a robust tool for tunnel design optimization. The details of the system architecture and the ANNs development are discussed in this paper.

A Study on Propeller Noise Localizations in a Cavitation Tunnel Using MFP (정합장 처리를 이용한 캐비테이션 터널에서의 프로펠러 소음원 위치 추적에 관한 연구)

  • The two major objectives of acoustical measurements in a cavitation tunnel are measuring the noise levels generated by rotating propellers behind a hull and localizing possible noise sources in order to reduce noise levels. Propeller noise measurement experiments were performed in MOERI cavitation tunnel at December, 2006. In order to put the propeller into cavitating conditions, a wake-generating dummy body was devised. In addition, ten hydrophones are put inside a wing-shaped casing in order to minimize the unexpected flow induced self noise around hydrophone itself. After measuring both of the noises of the rotating propeller behind the dummy body and signals generated by a virtual source, respectively the data were matched field processed using the frequency incoherent Bartlett processor to localize noises on the propeller plane. In this paper, we presented the measured noise analysis and the localization results.
