Development of Mobile System Based on Android for Tunnel Face Mapping (터널 막장 매핑을 위한 안드로이드 기반의 모바일 시스템 개발)

  • Tunnel face mapping plays an important role in risk analysis and infrastructure support decisions during tunnel construction. In this study, a digital mapping system using a mobile device is employed instead of existing face-mapping methods that rely upon face mapping sheets. The mobile device is then connected to the main server in the field, where a tunnel-specific database is compiled automatically. This information provides real-time feedback on the tunnel face to construction personnel and engineers, thus allowing for rapid assessment of tunnel face stability and infrastructure needs. The Douglas-Peucker algorithm, among others, is employed to resolve problems arising from the detailed mapping and speed problem by data accumulation. This system is expected to raise program optimization through field verification and additional functional improvements.

  • 본 고는 일본터널기술협회가 발간한 "터널공사용 기계편람"을 기초로 작성한 것으로 터널공사에 사용되는 기계중 공기압을 동력원으로 하는 기계에 필요한 공기와 터널굴착 작업시 발생하는 유해가스 및 분진제어를 위해 막장에 신선한 공기를 공급하기 위한 급기설비, 터널에서 사용되는 물의 원활한 공급과 터널내 용수를 터널외부로 배수하기 위한 급${\cdot}$배수 설비, 터널건설에 필요한 모든 전기를 수급 및 공급하는 수${\cdot}$ 변전 설비와 터널건설에 필요한 대형장비의 이동을 위한 크레인 설비의 총 3편으로 나누어 설명한다.

Study on the Fuzzy Inference System for Objectivity of Ground Evaluation in Tunnelling (터널지반 평가의 객관화를 위한 퍼지추론시스템 연구)

  • This study has for its object to increase an objectivity of the observation result in the face mapping of tunnel and to suggest the reasonable support and reinforcement methods to be considered the rock properties. It was developed in this study to the tunnel stability evaluation system(Prototype NFEST) to be used fuzzy set theory and neuro-fuzzy techniques, and this system was verified according to the reliability evaluation between the 36 learning data and the inferred results. When it summarized the results; (1) 12 evaluation items and ranges were proposed to be modified basis on the RMR which are well known to the domestic workers. (2) It was shown that correlation coefficient(│R│) between $RMR_{inf}$ inferred by 12 items and $RMR_{org}$ due to arithmetic total, $RMR_{chk}$ due to subjective judgement of observer are relatively high relationship with each 0.83 and 0.79. (3) Inferred result of the total tunnel safety shows also a good relationship with $RMR_{inf}$ (│R│=0.7) and the rock weathering(│R│=0.84).

A Study on the Impermeable Effect by Grouting in the Subsea Tunnel (해저터널에서 주입에 의한 차수효과 연구)

  • In this study, the effect of rock mass curtain grouting was investigated by analyzing the correlation between the parameters of the RMR & grout injection volume, Lugeon value & RQD, Lugeon value & cement injection volume. In order to investigate the effect of rock mass curtain grouting, we analyzed the grout injection volume of 315 curtain grouting holes at 9 tunnel face of NATM Subsea tunnels in gneiss area. The total grout injection volume in the Subsea tunnels study was slightly changed in some tunnels face but decreased with increasing the rating of parameters in spacing of discontinuity (R3, Js) and groundwater condition (R5). The geological anomalies of seismic survey (3D, TSP) and the inflow of probe hole were found to be more correlated of relative than the parameters of RMR. The unit injection volume was found to decrease with higher ratings in the parameters of the RMR except the weathering degree of the discontinuity (Jc, R4). The correlation between RQD and Lugeon values is not significant, but it can be confirmed that the Lugeon value tends to decrease as the RQD value increases.

Analysis of geological conditions and water bearing zones in front of tunnel face using TSP (TSP탐사를 이용한 터널 굴착면 전방 지질상태 및 함수대 분석)

  • To analyze the prediction of geological conditions and water-bearing zones, TSP was performed in the collapse zone of the fault zone. The results of the TSP were verified by comparing them to the face mapping results of the prediction zone. The rock quality prediction result of the TSP had an error of about 3 to 10 meters compared to the face mapping result, but the overall rock quality change and ground condition were analyzed to be relatively similar. In the water-bearing zones of the face mapping results, the Vp/Vs ratio ranges from 1.79 to 2.37 and the Poisson's ratio ranges from 0.27 to 0.39. In the sections other than the water-bearing zones, the Vp/Vs ratio ranges from 1.61 to 1.89, and the Poisson's ratio ranges from 0.19 to 0.3. As a result of analyzing the Vp/Vs ratio and Poisson's ratio in the water-bearing zones, it is analyzed that the sections with a Vp/Vs ratio of 2.0 or more and a Poisson's ratio of 0.3 or more have a high possibility of being water-bearing zones.

Quantitative evaluation of collapse hazard levels of tunnel faces by interlinked consideration of face mapping, design and construction data: focused on adaptive weights (막장관찰 및 설계/시공자료가 연계 고려된 터널막장 붕괴 위험도의 정량적 산정: 가변형 가중치 중심으로)

  • Previously, a new concept of indexing methodology has been proposed for quantitative assessment of tunnel collapse hazard level at each tunnel face with respect to the given geological data, design condition and the corresponding construction activity (Shin et al, 2009a). In this paper, 'linear' model, in which weights of influence factors are invariable, and 'non-linear' model, in which weights of influence factors are variable, are taken into account with some examples. Then, the 'non-linear' model is validated by using 100 tunnel collapse cases. It appears that 'non-linear' model allows us to have adapted weight values of influence factors to characteristics of given tunnel site. In order to make a better understanding and help for an effective use of the system, a series of operating processes of the system are built up. Then, by following the processes, the system is applied to a real-life tunnel project in very weak and varying ground conditions. Through this approach, it would be quite apparent that the tunnel collapse hazard indices are determined by well interlinked consideration of face mapping data as well as design/construction data. The calculated indices seem to be in good agreement with available electric resistivity distribution and design/construction status. In addition, This approach could enhance effective usage of face mapping data and lead timely and well corresponding field reactions to situation of weak tunnel faces.

Inspecting Stablity of DSM method with Grouting on Tunnel Face using Chamber Test and Numericlal Analysis (토조실험과 수치해석을 이용한 막장면 그라우팅 DSM공법의 안정성 검토)

  • In urban areas, underground tunnel construction sites have spread widely to accommodate rapidly increasing traffic volume along with a high-degree economic growth. Earth tunneling might be adapted frequently for the underground space securing, and various tunneling methods have been developed to stabilize the tunnel face and crown. Among them, the DSM (divided shield method) is gaining popularity for its enhanced stability and construction efficiency. This method has its foundation from the Messer Shield method, which is one of the trenchless special tunneling methods. This study examined the effects of face reinforcement on construction the sequence through a large scale soil chamber test and numerical analyses. The chamber has a size of a 1/2 scale of the real tunnel. Surface settlements were measured according the tunneling process. Commercially available software, MIDAS GTS, was used for numerical analysis and its result was compared with the values obtained from the chamber test. The results of the study show that both settlements of the embanked soils and the stress of the tunnel girder are located within the safe criteria. Overall, this study provides basic data and the potential of using a reinforced tunnel face to enhance DSM applications.
