  • The objective of this study is to analyze the landslide hazard areas by combining LRA (Lgistic Regression Analysis) and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Program) methods with Remote Sensing and GIS data in Anseong-si. In order to classify landslide hazard areas of seven levels, six topographic factors (slope, aspect, elevation, soil drain, soil depth, and land use) were used as input factors of LRA and AHP methods. As results, high-risk areas for landslide (1 and 2 levels) by LRA and AHP of its own were classified as 46.1% and 48.7%, respectively. A new method by applying weighting factors to the results of LRA and AHP was suggested. High-risk areas for landslide (1 and 2 levels) form the new method was classified as 58.9%.

  • The inventory maps of landslide deposits show where landsliding has occured in the past., and serve as a general guide to slope stability. Isopleth maps derived from those inventory maps, provide an economi¬cal means for the recognition of landslide activity and assessing the degree of landslide hazard in a large area, es¬pecially rural areas. GIS could generalize the methods of hazard assessment by means of isopleth mapping of landslide deposits. Isopleth maps of Secheon and Boreong areas, where the degree of landslide hazard is very high, show the mitigation of landslide activities remarkably by the remedial efforts during the period of 1978-1991.

  • Landslides, failure of slope stability by natural or artificial factors, occur loss of life and properties. Recently, landslides hazard area predict statistical methods and field measurements, but there are so many difficulties to find the occurrence system because of its complexity. To predict the landslide harvard region, model area is the Seodong in Pusan where occurred landslides. Database of ground height made the each topography in map scale of 1 : 25,000, 1 : 10,000, 1 : 5,000 and 1 : 1,200. Authors knew to landslide hazard area by the weight of ground height data and slope angle data. Finally, aerial photo analysis is possible find landslide hazard area.

  • Inhomogeneous Poisson process models are widely applied to landslide data to understand how environmental variables systematically influence the risk of landslides. However, those models cannot successfully explain the clustering phenomenon of landslide locations. In order to overcome this limitation, we propose to use a Cauchy cluster process model and show how it improves the goodness of fit to the landslide data in terms of K-function. In addition, a numerical study is performed to select the optimal estimation method for the Cauchy cluster process.

  • In this study, the hazard areas are identified by using the Newmark displacement model, which is a predictive model for identifying the areas at risk of landslide triggered by earthquakes, based on the results of field survey and laboratory test, and literature data. The Newmark displacement model mainly utilizes earthquake and slope related data, and the safety of slope stability derived from LSMAP, which is a landslide prediction program. Backyang Mt. in Busan where the landslide has already occurred, was chosen as the study area of this research. As a result of this study, the area of landslide prone zone identified by using the Newmark displacement model without earthquake factor is about 1.15 times larger than that identified by using LSMAP.

  • Soil samples collected from paddy field adjacent to zinc-mining sites were sequentially extracted to assess chemical fractions of Cd, Zn, Cu and Pb. The purpose of this study was two fold; (i) to examine the chemical forms of heavy metal in soils by sequential extraction. and (ii) to determine relationships between the chemical distribution of heavy metal in the soil and the heavy metal content of the brown rice. The results are summarized as follows. The content of exchangeable, organically bound and carbonate Cd and residual Zn was 73.9% and 63.8% of total Cd and Zn in the soil, respectively. The content of exchangeable Cd, Zn and Pb in soil showed highly negative correlations with pH, organically bound Cd, carbonate Cd, sulfide Cd, Zn and Pb in soil showed highly positive correlations with pH. The content of organically bound Cd, Zn, Pb and carbonate Cu in soil showed highly positive correlations with organic matter content, while the content of sulfide Cu and residual Cd in soil showed highly negative correlation with organic matter content. The content of carbonate Cd, Zn, Pb and residual Cu in soil showed highly positive correlations with CEC, but the content of exchangeable Cd, Zn, Cu, Pb and organically bound Cu in soil showed highly negative correlations with CEC. The content of total, organically bound, carbonate, sulfide and residual Cd in soil were highly correlated with that of Cd in brown rice. The content of any Pb fractions in soil were not correlated with that of Pb in brown rice. The content of water soluble and exchangeable Zn in soil were highly correlated with that of Zn in brown rice.

  • The aim is to analysis landslide vulnerability in Inje, Korea, using GCI(Geospatial Correlative Integration) and probability rainfalls based on geographic information system (GIS). In order to achieve this goal, identified indicators influencing landslides based on literature review. We include indicators of exposure to climate(rainfall probability), sensitivity(slope, aspect, curvature, geology, topography, soil drainage, soil material, soil thickness and soil texture) and adaptive capacity(timber diameter, timber type, timber density and timber age). All data were collected, processed, and compiled in a spatial database using GIS. Karisan-ri that had experienced 470 landslides by Typhoon Ewinia in 2006 was selected for analysis and verification. The 50% of landslide data were randomly selected to use as training data, while the other 50% being used for verification. The probability of landslides for target years (1 year, 3 years, 10 years, 50 years, and 100 years) was calculated assuming that landslides are triggered by 3-day cumulative rainfalls of 449 mm. Results show that number of slope has comparatively strong influence on landslide damage. And inclination of $25{\sim}30^{\circ}C$, the highest correlation landslide. Improved previous landslide vulnerability methodology by adopting GCI. Also, vulnerability map provides meaningful information for decision makers regarding priority areas for implementing landslide mitigation policies.

  • There are serious damage of people and properties every year due to landslides that are occurred by heavy rain. Because these phenomena repeat and the heavy rain is not an atmospheric anomaly, the counter plan becomes necessary. The study area, Ulsan, is one of the seven metropolitan, and largest cities of Korea and has many large facilities such as petrochemical complex and factories of automobile and shipbuilding. So it is necessary assess the landslide hazard potential. In the study. the three steps of landslide hazard assessment techniques such as susceptibility, possibility, and risk were performed to the study area using GIS. For the analyses, the topographic, geologic, soil, forest, meteorological, and population and facility spatial database were constructed. Landslide susceptibility representing how susceptible to a given area was assessed by overlay of the slope, aspect, curvature of topography from the topographic DB, type, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil from the soil DB, lype age, diameter and density from forest DB and land use. Then landslide possibility representing how possible to landslide was assessed by overlay of the susceptibility and rainfall frequency map, Finally, landslide risk representing how dangerous to people and facility was assessed by overlay of the possibil. ity and the population and facility density maps The assessment results can be used to urban and land use plan for landslide hazard prevention.
