Daylighting software is an important component to predict the performance of daylighting system in advance of a field demonstration study with installing them in buildings. PHOTOPIA is a powerful software to generate a candela distribution curve(CDC) of an active daylighting system like a tracking dish concentrator. With PHOTOPIA, a set of candela distribution curves was generated under clear sky conditions and different solar altitude angles. The candela distribution curves were then imported to RADIANCE for rendering and analysis on the daylighting performance of a tracking dish concentrator when it installed in a actual class room without windows. As a result, the daylight collection efficiency of the dish concentrator was 68.4% when we assumed that there was no tracking error. It was found that candela(cd) and total lumens(lm) increased with solar altitude rising, whereas the distribution angle was fixed. The illuminance uniformity on the work plane in the class room was relatively low, 0.12, while the illuminance uniformity on the area of $2.7m^2$ to which the light was illuminated was considerably high, 0.60. The maximum illuminance was 1,340lux with a solar altitude angle of 80 degrees.
A set of candela distribution curves(CDCs) were generated for a fiber optic dish daylighting system by Photopia under clear sky conditions at different solar altitudes. The candela distribution curves were then exported to Radiance for photometric analysis of a windowless lecture room. Observations were made on the Radiance rendered illuminance images, which provided photo realistic scenes varying with solar altitudes. If no tracking error were assumed, the daylight collection efficiency of the system remained at a constant value of 68.4% during its operation. Higher the solar altitude angle, greater in photometric quantities were observed, which are represented by candela(cd) and total lumens(lm). In all cases considered, however, the angle of light distribution remained fixed reflecting the solar tracking feature of the system. The illuminance uniformity on the workplane lingered around 0.12, which is quite low. This is quite a contrast to its average value of 0.68 of the $2.7m^2$ area directly below the terminal device (diffuser) of the system. The maximum illuminance of 1,340lux was obtained at a solar altitude of 80 degrees.

The Object tracking by real-time image analysis is one of the major concerns in computer vision and its application fields. The Object detection process of real-time images must be preceded before the object tracking process. To achieve the stable object detection performance in the exterior environment, adaptive background model generation methods are needed. The adaptive background model can accept the nature's phenomena changes and adapt the system to the changes such as light or shadow movements that are caused by changes of meridian altitudes of the sun. In this paper, we propose a robust background model generation method effective in an illegal parking auto-detection application area. We also provide a evaluation method that judges whether a moving vehicle stops or not. As the first step, an initial background model is generated. Then the differences between the initial model and the input image frame is used to trace the movement of object. The moving vehicle can be easily recognized from the object tracking process. After that, the model is updated by the background information except the moving object. These steps are repeated. The experiment results show that our background model is effective and adaptable in the variable exterior environment. The results also show our model can detect objects moving slowly. This paper includes the performance evaluation results of the proposed method on the real roads.

Sea ice plays an important role in Earth's climate by regulating the amount of solar energy absorbed and controlling the exchange of heat and material across the air-sea interface. Its growth, drift, and melting are monitored on a regular basis by satellite observations. However, low-resolution products with passive microwave radiometer have reduced accuracy during summer to autumn when the ice surface changes rapidly. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observations are emerging as a powerful complementary, but previous researches have mainly focused on winter ice. In this study, sea ice drift tracking was evaluated and analyzed using SAR images and tracker with global positioning system (GPS) during late summer-early autumn period when ice surface condition changes a lot. The results showed that observational uncertainty increases compared to winter period, however, the correlation coefficient with GPS measurements was excellent at 0.98, and the performance of the ice tracking algorithm was proportional to the sea ice concentration with a correlation coefficient of 0.59 for ice concentrations above 50%.
Nowaday, almost of practical energy is come from the fossil fuel, such as coal, oil and gas those are limited and caused the environmental pollution. For these reason. solar energy is come into notice as a new alternative energy source to overcome the shortage of electricity in the $future^{(1)}$. In this paper, small PV system using photo sensor for tracking sun is developed and is verified by experiments.

It is well known that solar tracking systems can increase the efficiency of exiting solar panels significantly. In this paper, a hybrid solar tracking system has been developed by using both astronomical estimates from a GPS and the image processing results of a camera vision system. A decision making process is also proposed to distinguish current weather conditions using camera images. Based on the decision making results, the proposed hybrid tracking system switches two tracking control methods. The one control method is based on astronomical estimates of the current solar position. And the other control method is based on the solar image processing result. The developed hybrid solar tracking system is implemented on an experimental platform and the performance of the developed control methods are verified.

In this paper, Maximum Power Point Tracking Method using Fuzzy controller is proposed to improve energy conversion efficiency. The solar cell has an optimum operating point to be able to get maximum power. To obtain maximum power from photovoltatic any, photovoltatic power system usually requires maximum power point tracking controller. The output characteristics of solar cell are nonlinear. To obtain maximum power from photsvoltatic array, the fuzzy controller only uses the output power. Therefore this control method is easy to implement to real system.
The purpose of a solar tracking system (STS) is to control the attitude of a space vehicle so that it will track the sun with high accuracy. In this paper, the literature of tracking of the sun in a plane is surveyed and a control modeling for the analysis of STS is presented by simultaneous transfer functions and state-space equations. Also a program for obtaining state variables by the single term Walsh series(STWS) approach is developed. The proposed approach is much simpler in analysis and easier in implementation than the Runge-Kutta numerical integration Method. The results of computer simulation are shown for the dynamic behaviors of vehicle axis, armature-controlled dc motor and controller of STS via a Runge-Kutta method and a single term Walsh series approach, respectively.
This paper proposes the microprocessor-based step-up chopper system used for the battery charge from the photovoltaic arrays. The proposed scheme tracks the maximum power point by analyzing the voltage and power phasors which vary as the solar irradiation quantity. In this system, protection for the overcharge and overdischarge in also provided.
This paper proposes tracking solar power generation system using position solar algorithm(PSA). The solar power generation is changed power according to solar position due to using solar energy. The solar tracking methods are the program method and sensor method. This paper proposes two-axis tracking solar power generation using program tracking method. The validity of proposed system in this paper is proved through analyzing temperature of solar collect, generating power and efficiency.
