  • The main purpose of the present study was to find the effect of short term creating loading on repeated bouts of kicking, plasma creating phosphokinase and anaerobic power in male taekwondo player from high school. Sixteen male were randomly assigned to two groups. They were tested before and after 6 days of placebo$(4{\times}5g\;glucose\;d^{-1},\;N=11)$ or Creatine monohydrate loading$(consume\;0.3g\;kg^{-1},\;N=11)$. Repeated bouts of kicking was tested through maximal front kicking continuously for 1 minute and took a rest for 30 seconds, after 30 seconds rest they should have to start kicking again. They repeated it 2 times more(total 3 sets) and the kicking times were measured each sets. Also, body composition, CPK, mean power and peak power were measured before and after experiment. The following results were obtained from this study; 1. The kicking test was significantly increased at 1, 2, 3 sets only in creatine loading group(p<.05, p<.01). 2. Only creatine loading group was significantly increased of plasma creatine phosphokinase(p<.01). 3. Only creatine loading group were significantly increased both of mean power and peak power(p<.05; p<.01). These results suggest that short creatine loading was effective diet protocol in taekwondo player from male high school.

  • The objective of this study is to verify the effects of the Taekwondo athletes' sports participation motivation on the achievement orientation and achievement behaviors and to verify the mediating effect of the achievement orientation. The subjects of this study were 256 athletes' in Honam. The questionnaire data were utilized for verification of hypotheses through structural equation model analysis. As a result of verification, Taekwondo athletes' sports participation motivation presented a statistically significant positive correlation with their achievement orientation. The achievement orientation showed a significant positive effect on the achievement behaviors with the mediating effect of the achievement orientation. Finally, the result of this study is meaningful in a point of view of the effect of Taekwondo athletes' sports participation motivation on the achievement orientation and achievement behaviors. It is worthwhile to verify the mediation effect of achievement orientation.

  • Forefoot injuries are common in runners or martial art athletes, but due to the anatomical stability, collateral ligament injury of the hallucal interphalangeal joint has been rarely reported. We report a college Taekwondo athlete with chronic varus instability of the hallucal interphalangeal joint due to chronic lateral collateral ligament rupture. The patient had been treated with lateral ligament reconstruction and achieved good clinical outcome.

  • This study sought to reduce the risk of fractures in elite youth taekwondo athletes to find out the relationship between bone mineral density which are used as indicators of early diagnosis of osteoporosis and cardiorespiratory functional capacity which is an indicator of performance and sports injury the harmful to athletes. The Pearson product-moment correlation was performed to investigate the correlation between bone mineral density, cardiorespiratory functional capacity, and sports injury. The bone mineral density and cardiorespiratory functional capacity, sports injury were examined the relationship using the Simple Linear Regression. The bone mineral density were correlated with the ventilation (r=.388), and VO2max (r=.478). Bone mineral density was correlated with sports injury (r=-.292). When the bone mineral density increased by .002 and .006, the ventilation (p=.001) and VO2max (p=.006) increased by about 1. In addition, when the bone mineral density decline by .016, the sports injury increased by about 1. Improving athletes' bone mineral density can prevent sports injury, and it can be used as a sports injury prevention program in the future.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to analyze? the chronic pain of adolescent Taekwondo athletes, to research the understanding about chronic pain of coaches and athletes, to? reduce the development of chronic pain. Materials and Methods: From March. 2006 to June 2007, 210 athletics and 12 coaches of elementary, middle and high school in Kwang-ju city were surveyed. They was evaluated by physical examination, simple radiographs and MRI. Results: In 210 athletics, 162(77.1%) athletes had chronic pain. 19(11.7%) athletes had over three regions of pain, 74(45.7%) athletes had two regions of pain, 69(42.6%) athletes had one region of pain. In 274 cases of 164 athletes, the most common region was foot and ankle(145 cases, 52.9%), followed by hand(47 cases, 17.2%) and knee(38 cases,13.9%), hip(25 cases, 9.1%), and lumbar area(19 cases, 6.9%) The chronic pain was classified by injury type. Contusion of foot was 103 cases(most common), sprain of ankles was 40cases, Contusion of hands and wrists was 28 cases, and so on. The etiologies of injury that causes the chronic pain were match injury in training that is most common, intensive exercise and match injury in competition. Conclusion: The chronic pain was common in adolescent Taekwondo athletes. The ankle and foot were the most common region of chronic pain and the match injury was the most common injury, caused the chronic pain. Although athletes had considerable mental stress about chronic pain, the treatment of chronic pain and rest were insufficient. Therefore the variable effort to prevent injury and to treatment injury must be considered importantly.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Isotonic Training and Isotonic isometric complex Training to Knee joint Isokinetic muscle function in the high-school Taekwondo athlete. This subjects were randomly divided into two groups; a Isotonic Training group (n=7) Isotonic isometric complex Training group (n=7), Taekwondo athletes share each, 12 weeks between executes a motion. peak torque, H/Q ratio, bilateral muscular ratio muscular endurance of knee joint measured. For this study, two-way ANOVA with repeated measure were used. The result of this study presents between groups was not plain difference expressed. H/Q ratio, bilateral muscular ratio, muscular endurance was plain difference expressed after 12 weeks point of time (p>0.05) and peak torque was plain difference expressed (p<0.05). Conclusion each group did not appear all but one (peak torque), but point of view exercise was effect H/Q ratio, bilateral muscular ratio, muscular endurance, peak torque plain difference expressed.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of flossing band exercise on the range of motion and vertical jump for taekwondo demonstration athletes with ankle functional instability. The subjects of this study were 21 male Taekwondo Demonstration Team athletes enrolled at D University. They were divided into functional ankle instability group(FAIG, n=7), mild ankle instability group(MAIG, n=7), and ankle stability group(ASG, n=7). All groups performed a acute flossing band exercise program. The results of this study are as follows; dorsi flexion(p<.01), inversion(p<.01), eversion(p<.05) and vertical jump(p<.01) were significantly increased in the FAIG. Flossing band exercise of Taekwondo demonstration team with FAI increased joint range of motion and vertical jump. Therefore, it was confirmed that it could be an intervention that can improve performance and reduce the risk of ankle injury.

  • In this paper, I was undertaken to identify factorial structure of physical fitness components for male high school Taekwondo players. In order to accomplish this purpose, the selected 8 physical fitness test were conducted to 50 male high school Taekwondo players. For the concretely, this study was conducted to physical fitness battery was grip strength, vertical jump, standing trunk flexion, sit-ups, closed eyes foot balance, 10m shuttle run, 50m run, and 1600m run. Factor analysis was applied for analyzing factorial structure of each physical fitness components.
