  • As a part of the R&D efforts for the hypersonic vehicles, various flight test programs has been carried out using small launch vehicles or sounding rockets. Australian HyShot program is a representative case of the flight test program for scramjet engines carried by international collaborations. A number of hypersonic flight test programs has followed in a similar way. In USA, Falcon HTV-2 was carried by DARPA, X-51A by AFRL and HyFly by ONR. HyCAUSE and HIFiRE were carried in collaboration with Australia. In France, LEA program is on the way similarly to X-51A. Russia, China and India seems like carrying out flight test programs for the development of hypersonic defense system. The goals, technical elements, the status and the relation between the programs were summarized in this paper as a reference for the similar program of the country in the future.

  • The line-telemetry data processing system is necessary for monitoring the status of each onboard systems of KSLV-I upper stage during the ground tests and launch preparation. The mission of line-telemetry system is to provide reference telemetry data and to monitor the status of upper stage. The line-telemetry data processing system consists of a PCM acquisition/processing server, a system management server, and 9 monitoring consoles. In this paper, we will describe the overview of onboard remote measurement system, the design of the line-telemetry data processing system, anomaly setup information for indicating alarm signal in case of abnormal occurrence, and the result of the ground test and flight test.

  • The magnetometer is one of the most important payloads for scientific satellite to monitor the near-earth space environment. The electromagnetic variations of the space environment can be observed with the electric and magnetic field measurements. In practice, it is well known that the measurement of magnetic fields needs less technical complexities than that of electric fields in space. Therefore the magnetometer has long been recognized as one of the basic payloads for the scientific satellites. In this paper, we discuss the scientific fluxgate magnetometer which will be on board the KITSAT-3. The main circuit design of the present magnetometer is based on that of KITSAT-1 and -2 but its facilities have been re-designed to improve the resolution to about 5nT for scientific purpose. The calibration and noise level test of this circuit have been performed at the laboratory of the Tierra Tecnica company in Japan.

  • The satellite on geostationary orbit accommodates multiple payloads into a single spacecraft platform and launched in June 26, 2010. The Electrical Power Subsystem provides a fully regulated power bus at $50V_{DC}$ in sunlight and eclipse conditions. The electrical power required to the satellite is generated by a solar array wing and the energy is stored by a Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 192.5Ah. This paper selects the main design parameters, compares and analyzes with the results at ground test and in orbit operation to apply this performance evaluation of the Electrical Power Subsystem to next satellite design on geostationary orbit. The Electrical Power Subsystem is demonstrated nominal behavior without significant degradation through the performance evaluation from design to in orbit operation.

  • Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) is a powerful and well established microwave remote sensing technique which enables high resolution measurement of Earth surface independent of weather conditions and sunlight illumination. KARI has been developing the first Korea SAR satellite which is scheduled to be launched in this year. The SAR satellite mainly consists of the bus platform and SAR payload. Most of all, the RF compatible design during the design phase and the verification of the RF compatibility during the testing phase is very important procedure for the in-orbit performance guarantee because the SAR payload radiates high power through the SAR antenna. In this study, the SAR satellite design criteria and verification procedure for the RF compatibility are described. In addition, this paper describes the RF full radiation testing (RF auto-compatibility testing) for the verification of the RF performance robustness, the testing configuration, and the test results.

  • Satellite laser ranging (SLR), which is the most accurate geodetic method for precise orbit determination of artificial satellites, will be used to determine the precise orbit of STSAT2. This paper will present the development of a Laser Reflector Array (LRA) of STSAT2. Currently one LRA was designed, analyzed, manufactured, optically tested and assembled.
