산업의학 - 직업성 피부질환 I

  • 직업성 피부질환은 1988년 미국 전체 직업성 질환중 20%에 해당된다(미 노동부 자료 참고). 그 비율은 주에 따라 크게 달라지기도 한다. 피부질환은 어떤 주에서는 보상되는 직업성 질환의 대다수를 차지하기도 한다; 예를 들어, 캘리포니아와 플로리다주에서는 농작물에 의한 접촉성 피부염이 흔하다. 접촉성 피부염은 직업성 피부질환으로 보고되는 가장 흔한 피부질환이다. 이러한 사례의 4/5는 유기용제, 절삭유, 세척유, 알칼리, 산 등과 같은 자극성 화학물질에 대한 노출과 관련이 있다. 자외선은 어떤 화학물질(예를 들면, 코울 타르, 크레오소오트)과 반응하여, 이 화학물질 및 빛에 노출되는 부위에 자극성 접촉성 피부질환을 유발하기도 한다. 1/5의 사례는 에폭시 수지, 크롬, 식물 수지, 그 밖의 많은 것 등 특수 접촉 감광제와 관련될 수 있다. 강한 자극제에 노출되어 발상하는 화학적 화상은 비교적 흔하게 일어난다. 백반과 유사한 피부탈색은 드물게 일어나며 피부 접촉을 통하여 야기하는 특수 화학물질과 관련될 수 있다. 여드름과 모낭염은 기름 및 유지들과의 피부 접촉을 통하여 생겨날 수 있다. 10대 여드름과 구별되는 염소성 여드름이라고 불리는 질환은 여러 종류의 염화 탄화수소들(예를들면 다브롬화 디페닐, 다염화 디페닐, 디옥신)에 노출되어 발생되기도 한다. 신체적인 손상으로 반복되는 외상부위에 가골이 형성되기도 한다. 여러 종류의 일에 특징적인 것(예를 들면 바이올린 연주자의 목에 가골)이 소위 "직업적인 표지" 이다. 전기톱 작동 기술자, 분쇄기 작동기술자, 지하 광산 암석 천공 기술자에게서 발생하는, 손 - 팔 부위의 진동은 오랜기간 혹은 심하게 노출된 노동자에 있어서 - 손에 혈관수축질환 - 진동장애 백색 수지질환을 일으킬 수 있다. 피부암은 직업과 관련이 있다고 할 수 있다. 하지만 몇몇 사례가 산재 관련 기관에 보고외어 있지만, 암등록소에 보고는 불완전하며, 피부암으로 인한 사망은 드물기 때문에 피부암의 발생률은 알 수 없다. 예방적인 방법은 개인보호구(장갑, 구두 등), 기계공학적 통제, 노동자 교육, 피부에 노출되는 것을 피하기 위해 주어진 일을 맡는 노동자들의 교대와 같은 관리적인 통제가 있다. 이러한 방법들은 화학적 화상, 알러지성 접촉성 피부염과 같은 피부염, 진동장애, 직업관련성 질환(예를 들면, 건선, 단순태선, 백반)을 예방하는데 도움이 된다. 만성 자극성 접촉성 피부염은 아직 잘 이해하고 있지 못하여 현재 예방하는 방법은 아직 만족스럽지 못하다.

Effect of Herbicide Paraquat on Electron Donor and Acceptor (제초제 Paraquat의 전자수용 및 방출에 대한 영향)

  • When paraquat was added to the bacterial membrane or mitochondrial suspension, the mixture turned dark blue, but the color was disappeared by aeration. The same phenomenon was seen when electrons were supplied to the paraquat. Blue color appeared from near the cathode, and then spreaded to whole transit system. Coloration was accelerated by addition of alkali, but the color was reduced by addition of acid or oxygen. Paraquat exhibited absorption at ultraviolet region by electron transfer at the concentrations as low as 1.0 mM which did not exert difficulty in showing color reaction. Paraquat caused the increase of the optical density at 340 nm by electron transit, and an aspect of that had a strong resemblance to NADH. The acute toxic action of paraquat seemes to depend on inhibition of energy metabolism cased by paraquat action of electron donor and acceptor.

Study on the Morphological Change of Straight Permanent Waved Hair by Tensile Strength Test (인장강도 측정에 의한 스트레이트 펌 모발의 형태학적 변화에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigated tensile properties and ultrastructural changes of straight permed hair using the rheometer and the scanning electron microscopy. First, we compared the morphological characteristic between the virgin hair and the straight permed hair after testing tensile strength. Cuticle cells were heavily lifted off in straight permed hair than in the virgin hair. Cuticle cells were separated by the destruction of intercellular membrane complex and no destruction or damage were found in cytoplasm. In the comparative test for tensile characteristic between the virgin hair and the straight permed hair, tensile distance of the straight permed hair was decreased by 24.5% or 3.05 mm than the virgin hair. The tensile strength was decreased by 34.63% or $5.62\;g/cm^2$ and the maximum stress by 34.59% or 56.12 g. As a result, the tensile property dropped to the lowest level with the straight permed hair than with the bleached hair or the permanent dyed hair of previous studies.

  • ${\alpha}$-sulfonated fatty acid methyl esters[$C_mH_{2m+1}CH(SO_3Na)COOC_nH_{2n+1}$], where hydrophobic group has carbon number of 12~18, were prepard by sulfonation of fatty acid methylester. The mole ratio of $SO_3$ to ester used was 1.3 and the reaction temperature was $70{\sim}90^{\circ}C$. The yield was found to be 97% by mixed gas reaction of inactive gas/gaseous $SO_3$. Studies on bleaching and neutralization processes in the pilot scale provided conditions applicable to industrial synthesis process.

Comparison of Sorption Characteristics of Red Pepper Powders with Their Seeds Mixing Ratio (고추씨 혼합비율에 따른 고추가루의 흡습특성 비교)

  • The sorption characteristics of red pepper powders in terms of mixing ratio of seeds to red pepper powders were investigated at various relative humidities and temperatures as storage conditions. At lower relative humidity below 43% RH, the sorption equilibrium was easily reached regardless of mixing ratio, whereas at higher relative humidity above 75%, the powders gained moisture rapidly, resulting in the color change to brown. At extremely lower RH below 33%, decoloration occurred in red pepper powder. The moisture contents of monolayer value for red pepper powders without seeds were ranging from 5.88% to 7.35% inversely proportional to the temperature. The moisture contents of monolayer value decreased with increase of mixing ratio of seeds.

Shell Necrosis of Haliotis discus hannai by Mastigocoleus sp. (Cyanophyta) in Korea (남조류, Mastigocoleus sp.에 의한 한국산 참전보의 패각 괴사증)

  • Shell necrosis, which is found in the juvenile stage of Haliotis discus hannai in th culture process, was examine in this study. In the necrosis shell, bacteria of rod type and a blue green algal species with heterocyst were observed. However, it appears to be caused by a boring blue green alga, Mastigocoleus sp., as based on SEM data. At the time of its infection, the shell was discolored from green into bright-grey, and then began to be brittle at the 4th to 6th breathing hole. After 60 days of culture, necrosis occurred in the breathing holes with many brown tiny colony, and continued to 3 years after culture. This shell necrosis was found in the tank culture system in land rather than in the cage culture system in sea, and greatly affected to the growth of Haliotis discus hannai, resulting in very small size of 16mm in 3 year old shell.

Decoloration of Polycyclic Aromatic Dyes by Mushroom Fungi (버섯균에 의한 염료의 탈색)

  • As waste-water disposal plants and oxidative biodegradation for the removal of waste polyaromatic dyes are proved to be ineffective due to the chemical stability of dyes, we studied various strains of mushroom fungi for the removal of these dyes. 100 fungi were isolated from the mushroom samples of 230 species collected in Korea. The growth medium containing a dye (Bromophenol Blue, Congo Red, or Methylene Blue) was inoculated to 10% and incubated for 7 days without shaking. The six strains which removed dyes effectively were selected for further studies with respect to removal of polycyclic aromatic dyes. For all strains, the rate of decoloration of dyes was increasing with Methylene Blue, Bromophenol Blue and Congo Red. The rate of decoloration was higher with stationary culture than with shaking culture. Adsorption of the dyes was the highest with Congo Red.

  • The change in the demand and perception of wigs worn for hair loss is getting better, but hair extension is emerging as a new treatment method that improves as there are inconvenient areas such as hair loss, bleaching, and tangling of wigs themselves, and time spent on unnatural hair styling and wearing wigs. The purpose of this study is to verify that the quality of life of middle-aged female hair loss is positively affected by hair growth techniques that weave wool strands into their hair. Those surveyed were middle-aged women with hair loss and were analyzed by measuring the quality of life before and after hair growth. The analysis showed that hair increased techniques affects the economic satisfaction, physical satisfaction, mental satisfaction and social satisfaction of middle-aged women with hair loss, indicating that hair increased techniques is effective in improving the quality of life for middle-aged women with hair loss. It is also expected that the beauty industry will develop high value through hair increased techniques, a blue ocean in the beauty market.

The Effect of Potato Lipoxygenase on the Change of Lipid Distribution, Fatty Acid Composition, Carotenoids Content and Color Value in Wheat Flour Dough (감자 lipoxygenase가 밀가루반죽의 지질분포, 지방산조성, 카로테노이드 및 색도 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was designed to investigate the effect of potato lipoxygenase on the change of dough chemical composition including lipid distribution, fatty acid composition, carotenoids content and color value in wheat flour dough. For the study, the potato lipoxygenase was added to wheat flour at a level of $6.5{\times}10\;unit/g$ flour. The addition of potato lipoxygenase to wheat flour dough was found to cause an increase in free lipid content, an effect apparently related to the decrease in linoleic acid content and increase in peroxide value. This phenomena might be due to the enzymatic oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acid. Also, the bleaching effect of lipoxygenase was observed as the decrease in carotenoids content of wheat flour dough. In comparison of color value, it was shown that redness, yellowness and total color difference$({\delta}E)$ were lower by addition of lipoxygenase.

The Effects of the Hot Air Drying of Red Pepper on the Quality (고추의 열풍건조(熱風乾燥)가 품질(品質)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Hot air drying of red pepper was studied on the quality of dried products at various drying conditions. In order to investigate the effects of drying methods on the red pepper quality, color appearance, capsanthin (red pigment) and capsaicine (hot taste principle) were analyzed. Color appearance and red pigments of dried red pepper powder were excellently superior to the conventional sun dried products, in spite of partial decolorization by cut drying, at moderate drying temperature ranges from $55^{\circ}C$ to $65^{\circ}C$. A better capsaicine content was recorded at hot air whole dried peppers than the conventional sun dried products. on the other hand about 20 percent loss was observed in cut dried ones. And hot air dried red pepper powder showed better preservative properties than sun dried pepper.
