In this paper, a modified elliptical lens antenna design is proposed to improve the performance of 100 GHz mini-lens antennas used in the ECEI(Electron Cyclotron Emission Imaging) module at KSTAR. A hemispherical lens is added on the bottom plate of the conventional elliptic lens antenna, and a 100 GHz dipole antenna is located on the end point of the hemispherical lens. Using geometrical optics, antenna radiated EM fields are designed to be totally reflected from the inner surface of the hemispherical lens, and thereby the antenna patterns are more focused toward the main beam. The validity of the proposed design is confirmed by the 3D EM simulator. The modified elliptical lens antenna provides 23.8 dB maximum gain, which is 2.2 dB gain improvement as compared with the conventional elliptic lens. Also, the side love levels of E- and H-planes are decreased by 2.6 dB and 3.4 dB, respectively.

Receiving sensitivity of the power gain by using Soret typed FZPL antenna should be worse when obliquely incident wave is illuminated on the FZPL. To solve this problem, elliptic Fresnel Zone Plate Lens antenna system should be introduced. Some numerical results computed by PO method are compared with Kirchhoff's approximation and measurement result.

In conventional optical data storage numerical aperture (NA) cannot be over 1 because of diffraction limit. To overcome this limitation. solid immersion lens(SIL) have produced a great interest in near-field optical data storage. In conventional optical recording method, the dual lens system using object lens and SIL had been studied generally. But the conventional SIL system has some critical problems that must be solved. The problems are heat, contamination. alignment of optical components and so on. To solve these problems. this work proposes enhanced SIL which has several advantages for mechanical and optical issues. This new SIL system named elliptic SIL(ESIL) can use evanescent energy in near-field more effectively. In addition. because of applying the inside recording unlike previous surface recording, ESIL can clear up the problems. The design and analysis of ESIL art executed by using CODE V. Also, in this paper we composed actual data recording system and achieved recording experiment by applying ESIL to magneto-optical recording. In conclusion. we analyze the improvement of aerial density and the reasonability of application to real data storage system.

Laser surface hardening technologies have been used to improve characteristics of wear and to enhance the fatigue resistance fur mold parts. The objective of this research work is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as power of laser and defocused spot position, on the characteristics of laser surface hardening for the case of SKD61 steel. CW Nd:YAG laser is selected as the heat source. The optical lens with the elliptical profile is designed to obtain a wide surface hardening area with a uniform hardness. From the results of the experiments, it has been shown that the maximum average hardness is approximatly 780 Hv when the power, focal position and the travel of laser are 1,095 W, 0mm and 0.3 m/min, respectively. In samples treated with lower scanning speeds, some small carbide particles appear in the interdendritic regions. This region contains fine martensite and carbide in proportions which depend on the local thermal cycle.

A 3D structure production method for microstereolithography is a useful way that produces complex structures with flexible processes and low cost. Several UV curable resins were blended and the optimal resin for micro-lens fabricate was selected through viscosity, workability and transmission tests. It consists of 1, 6 - Hexanediol diacrylate with 15 Apha and Isobornyl acrylate for reducing some shrinkage. When fabricating a micro-lens array on large surface, some distortion of shape occurred because of the surface tension between cured part. To overcome this problem, the optimal processing conditions were derived from considering amount of the resin and surface tension. Large surface Micro-lens array, which are a type of elliptical convex and consist of 18,000 micro-lens in the range of 2cm*2cm were fabricated. The focal length to the X-axis and Y-axis were calculated. To verify the performance, measure an energy distribution of transmitted light from the Large surface Micro-lens array.

Laser diode is used as a crucial part for minimization of terrestrial 3D Laser Scanner. But it has certain limitations such as oval beam shape and inevitable astigmatism. In order to realize a parallel light with beam divergence below 1 mrad, These problems of laser diode can be solved through beam shaping by Pinhole and Aperture. Finally, this study could materialize a collimated beam with 0.3 mrad beam divergence angle and 3mm diameter, that performance and checked by using real manufacture.
Purpose: In the present study, a difference in tear volume between the cornea and the rigid gas permeable (RGP) lens relative to corneal shape and corneal astigmatism was investigated by the alignment fitting status of spherical and aspherical RGP lenses. Methods: Spherical and aspherical RGP lenses were fitted with alignment in 77 subjects (135 eyes) who were in their 20~30s. Tear volume stained with fluorescein was qualitatively analyzed by dividing cornea into center, mid-peripheral and peripheral parts. Results: For the spherical RGP lens fitting, tear volume differences were found in each part in all corneal types. For the aspherical RGP lens fitting, tear volume differences were in each corneal part in symmetric bow tie- and asymmetric bow tie-type corneas. However, the tear was equally distributed from the center to the peripheral part in round- and oval-type corneas. In the group with corneal astigmatism lower than 1.25 D, tear volume between center and peripheral parts, and mid-peripheral and peripheral parts, was different when a spherical RGP lens was fitted. However, tear volume in each part was not different in the group with corneal astigmatism over 1.50 D. Moreover, the tear volumes of the central and mid-peripheral parts were proportionally increased with increasing corneal astigmatism in both spherical and aspherical RGP lenses. Furthermore, aspherical RGP lenses showed greater increments than spherical RGP lenses. Conclusions: The results revealed that the difference in tear volume between aspherical RGP lens and cornea was less than spherical RGP lens, and the difference in tear volume varied according to corneal shape and astigmatism. In addition, the method of measuring relative tear volume between RGP lens and cornea that was established in the present study can be used to evaluate tear volume between contact lens and cornea.
