  • This paper reviewed the main characteristics of Web 2.0 and discussed the possible applications related to National Geographic Information Systems. In general, Web 2.0 refers to a next generation World Wide Web environment that let people participate and share information and data. The recent examples using Web 2.0 with geo-spatial information are convincing us apply Web 2.0 into National Geographic Information Systems. In order to imply Web 2.0 into National Geographic Information Systems, we should consider not only technological advancements related to providing the services but also shifting the relationship between information provider(government agencies) and end-users. In other words, new platform should be provided to users so that users can easily create, share, and mash-up data, which was previously managed and owned only by government agencies. Successful integration Web 2.0 platform into National Geographic Information Systems require some important points such that; 1) the consideration for the data should be changed from closed and agency owned data to opened and shared data. 2) data standards should be established to integrate all data from different sources. 3) real change need to be happened rather than different naming on the same system.

  • Defense M&S for weapons effectiveness is a realistic way to support virtual warfare similar to real warfare. As the war paradigm becomes platform-centric to network-centric, people try to utilize smartphones as the source of sensor, and command/control data in the simulation-based weapons effectiveness analysis. However, there have been limited researches on integrating smartphones into the weapon simulators, partly due to high modeling cost - modeling cost to accomodate client-server architecture, and re-engineering cost to adapt the simulator on various devices and platforms -, lack of efficient mechanisms to exchange large amount of simulation data, and low-level of security. In this paper, we design and implement Smartphone Adaptor to utilize smartphones for the simulationbased weapons effectiveness analysis. Smartphone Adaptor automatically sends sensor information, GPS and motion data of a client's smartphone to a simulator and receives simulation results from the simulator on the server. Also, we make it possible for data to be transferred safely and quickly through JSON and SEED. Smartphone Adaptor is applied to OpenSIM (Open simulation engine for Interoperable Models) which is an integrated simulation environment for weapons effectiveness analysis, under development of our research team. In this paper, we will show Smartphone Adaptor can be used effectively in constructing a Live simulation, with an example of a chemical simulator.

  • The advent of the full-fledged Internet of Things era will bring together various types of information through Internet of Things devices, and the vast amount of information collected will be generated as new information by the analysis process. To effectively store this generated information, a flexible and scalable cloud computing system is advantageous. Therefore, the main determinants for effective client system acceptance are viewed as motivator factor (economics, efficiency, etc.) and hindrance factor (transitional costs, security issues, etc.) and the purpose of this study is to determine which detailed factors play a major role in making new system acceptance decisions around harm. The factors required to determine the major priorities are defined as the system acceptance determinants from the technical point of view obtained through the literature review, and the questionnaire is prepared based on the factors derived, and the survey is conducted on the experts concerned. In addition, the AHP analysis aims to achieve a final priority by performing a bifurcation between components for measuring a decision unit. Furthermore, the results of this study will serve as an important basis for making decisions based on acceptance (enabling) of technology.

  • Service blueprint is used to show the interaction between each service element at a glance and to understand the flow of the whole service centering on the customer at the stage of proposing a new service system. It was proposed in the 1980s before online business was developed. However, current services are changing in a way that provides various forms and channels, and the service blueprint seems to be not enough. To reflect this problem consciousness, we selected PSS among diversified service business models and propose a service blueprint type optimized for each business. After collecting 137 PSS cases to be used in the research, we made a business matrix and classified the cases and selected two representative cases to conduct two experiments. As a result, six types of service blueprint corresponding to the matrix could be derived: online service type, online remote support type, self rental type, online order type, traditional type, and offline support type. The validity of the proposed types of service blueprint was verified to confirm the suitability of those types.
