An experimental study on the cooling performance of carbon dioxide heat pump system for fuel cell vehicles (연료전지 자동차용 이산화탄소 열펌프 시스템에서의 냉방 성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This experimental study presents the results of the cooling performance test of a $CO_2$ heat pump system for fuel cell vehicles. The experimental facility provides the cool ing and heating environment for cabin and heat releasing component. The test loop is designed to target the cooling capacity of 5kW and its coefficient of performance (COP) of 2.2. The cooling performance of the heat pump system is strongly dependent on the refrigerant charge and the degree of superheat. We carried out basic experiments to obtain optimum refrigerant charge and the degree of superheat level at the internal heat exchanger outlet. The heat pump system for fuel cell vehicles is different from that of engine-driven vehicles, where the former has an electricity-driven compressor and the latter has the belt-driven (engine-driven) compressor. In the fuel cell vehicle, the compressor speed is an independent operating parameter and it is controlled to meet the cooling/heating loads. Experiments were carried out at cooling mode with respect to the compressor speed and the incoming outdoor air speed. The results obtained in this study can provide the fundamental cool ing performance data using the $CO_2$ heat pump system for fuel cell vehicles.

  • The purpose of this study is experimentally to analyze that intake port swirl, injection system and turbocharger have an effect on the engine performance and the emission characteristics in a V8 type turbocharged intercooler D.I. diesel engine of the displacement 16.7ι, and to suggest the improvement of engine performance. Generally to enhance engine power, TCI diesel engine is put to practically use turbo-charged intercoler in order to increase boost efficiency which is cooled boost air. As results of considering the factors of the intake port of swirl ratio 2.25, compression ratio 17.5, re-entrant 8.5$^{\circ}$ combustion bowl, nozzle hole diameter ${\Phi}$0.33*3+${\Phi}$0.35*2, nozzle protrusion 3.18mm, injection timing BTDC 12$^{\circ}$CA and turbo charger (compressor 0.6A/R+46Trim, turbine 1.0A/R+57Trim) is the best in the full range of operating in the engine performance and the exhaust characteristics of NO$\_$x/ concentration. Therefore their factors are appropriated as intake system, injection and turbocharger system.

Study on Heat Transfer Characteristic of Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger with Plate Fin (판형 핀을 가진 원통-다관형 열교환기의 열전달 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this work, the experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the heat transfer performance on the shell side of shell-and-plate finned tube heat exchanger with three different tube numbers(9, 13 and 19). Oil flowing on the shell side was cooled by cold water flowing inside the tubes. A shell-and-tube heat exchanger of an oil cooler consisted of one shell pass and two tube passes with the inner tube diameter of 8.82 mm and the tube length of 575 mm. Mass flow rate was varied from 1.2 to $6.0\;m^3/h$ for oil and from 0.6 to $3.0\;m^3/h$ for cold water, respectively. From the experiment of shell-and-plate finned tube heat exchanger, the overall heat transfer coefficient of heat exchanger with 9 tubes was compared with that of 13 and 19 tubes. It was found that the heat transfer coefficients in shell side of heat exchanger with 9 plate finned tubes showed averagely 1.8 times and 2.3 times higher than those of 13 and 19 tubes, respectively.

Performance Characteristics of an Electronically Controlled EGR Valve for Diesel Engines (디젤엔진용 전자식 EGR 밸브의 성능 특성)

  • Lately, the modulated EGR system that includes EGR valve and EGR cooler is being installed in diesel engines fur the purpose of the simultaneous reduction of NOx and PM. In this study. we designed and constructed a test bench for the performance evaluation of the modulated EGR system, and tested an electronically controlled EGR valve for 2.0 L diesel engines. The performance of the EGR valve was evaluated in terms of the valve lift behavior. the valve opening/closing response, and the mass flow rate through the valve. The valve lift with respect to the duty ratio of PWM signal was non-linear, and followed a different path fur valve opening and closing, that is, hysteresis. The valve opening response was concluded satisfactory falling within the usual standard response time. For the duty ratio of 40 to 60%, the mass flow rate through the valve was observed to depend on the pressure difference across the valve as well as the duty ratio, while it solely depended on the pressure difference fur the duty ratio above 60%.

Experimental Study on Compact type CO2 Gas Cooler(2) - Experiments and Predictions on Heat Flowrate and Pressure Drop - (CO2 가스쿨러용 콤팩트열교환기 개발에 관한 연구(2) - 열유량과 압력강하에 관한 실험 및 예측 -)

  • The heat flowrate and pressure dorp of $CO_2$ in a multi-tube-in-tube helical coil type gas cooler were predicted using LMTD method and compared with the experimental data. The mass flowrate of $CO_2$ and coolant were varied from 0.06 to 0.075 [kg/s], and the cooling pressure of gas cooler were from 8 to 10 [MPa], respectively. The LMTD method is used to predict the heat flowrate and pressure drop of supercritical $CO_2$ during in-tube cooling. The equations used by LMTD method were Gnielinski correlation for $CO_2$ and Dittus-Boelter correlation for coolant, respectively. The equation used to predict the pressure drop of $CO_2$ and coolant is Blasius correlation. In comparison of heat flowrate and pressure drop of $CO_2$ measured by experiment to that predicted by LMTD method, the experimental heat flowrate and pressure drop of $CO_2$ in the multi-tube-in-tube helical coil type gas cooler shows a relatively good agreement with that predicted by LMTD method.

  • In general, inlet temperature of cooling sea water for steam turbine condenser is about $25^{\circ}C$ and outlet temperature is about $60^{\circ}C$. For oil cooler, outlet temperature is about $40^{\circ}C$. Therefore corrosion heavily depends on the temperature of the coolant of a heat exchanger system. It is necessary to set the temperature of the cooling water to have maximum heat transfer efficiency. This paper was studied on the effect of temperature on SCC of Al-brass which is used as a tube material of vessel heat exchanger in $3.5\%$ NaCl + $0.1\%\;NH_4OH$ solution under flow by constant displacement tester. Based on the test results, the behavior of polarization characteristic, stress corrosion crack popagation and dezincification characteristic of Al-brass was investigated.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate cooling performance characteristics of mobile air conditioning system using R744 as an alternative of R-134a. In order to analyze the cooling performance characteristics of the air conditioning system using R744 for a passenger vehicle, the developed air conditioning system using R744 was applied in a real passenger vehicle and tested under various operating conditions with the variation of gas-cooler inlet air conditions, evaporator inlet air temperatures and compressor speeds. As a result, cooling capacity and coefficient of performance (COP) of the tested air conditioning system decreased with the rise of the inlet air temperature of the gas cooler but increased with the rise of the inlet air temperature of the evaporator. In addition, cooling capacity and coefficient of performance (COP) increased by 42.2 % with the rise of the compressor speed from 900 rev/min to 1800 rev/min, but it decreased by 55.4%.

  • The manufacturing execution system (MES) for product production handles different production processes according to the product characteristics and different types of data according to the process being considered. For efficiently providing the data pertaining to production equipment to production systems such as the MES, data collection through the equipment interface is required for obtaining the production data pertaining to field equipment. In this paper, a method is proposed for collecting the production data through the equipment interface in order to collect the various types of production-equipment data from the field. The proposed method is applied to a real manufacturing system to verify its efficiency. A more powerful MES can be constructed with a data acquisition system that acquires the status data at the shop-floor level.

Analysis of Energy Reduction of Free Cooling System with Regions of South Korea (지역별 프리쿨링 시스템의 에너지 절감 분석)

  • Using low outdoor temperature, free cooling system is used in a data center or industrial air-conditioning for energy saving. Because use of IT equipment has increased in some office building recently, there is a growing trend towards using free cooing system. Free cooling system performance is influenced by outdoor temperature. Therefore the performance is different with regions. In this study, performance characteristic of free cooling system is analysed and energy reduction is compared with some regions. Selected regions are 4 cities; including Ulsan analyzed in preceding research, Seoul, ChunCheon and Daejeon. The Aspentech software HYSYS 8.0v was used to conduct the analysis of free cooling system based on temperature per hour of 4 cities in 2013, respectively. The main result is following as. Free cooing system in this study has energy saving effect when outdoor temperature below $7^{\circ}C$. Becuase temperature of Chuncheon is relatively low, using free cooling system can conserve most air-conditioning energy. Energy reduction amount of Seoul is 11%, Chuncheon is 17.5%, Deajeon is 15%, Ulsan is 14%. In case of large scale of air-conditioning, it is reasonable to use free cooling system although the system is used in Seoul.

Significance and Method for a More Balanced Development of the Restaurant Franchise Business - Focused on Performance-Sharing Examples Between Franchisor and Franchisee - (프랜차이즈 산업 균형발전의 의미와 방안 -외식 프랜차이즈 가맹본부와 가맹점 성과의 공유사례를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to review the theories and cases of performance sharing in the franchise industry to present a method for more effective franchise performance-sharing. To that end, this study reviewed the theory on resource dependence and the theory on inequality to describe the performance-sharing between the franchisor and the franchisee and their relationship. It also looked at the cases of a week-in cooler system at 'Beer Market', the allocation of fees for alcoholic beverage sales to franchisees, the scholarship program of 'Onigiri and Ikyudon' and 'Bonsamo' which is a franchisees' committee for Bonjuk to introduce examples of performance-sharing. Through a theoretical review and case review, this study presents five types of methods for performance-sharing. First, 'the sharing of core competence by the franchise company; second, 'the establishment of a royalty culture'; third, 'scientific analysis of markets and establishment of a revenue forecast system'; fourth, 'reinforced financial support from the franchisor'; and lastly, 'the positive application of franchisees' committees'. Such methods are expected to provide a groundwork for mutual benefit and co-prosperity between franchisor and franchisee.
