  • It is the aim of this study to introduce the application method for the new estimation system of deterioration caused performance decrement of exterior wall by infrared theromography. With this help of this trial test, the defect such as void and honeycomb of esveria wall can be shown easily. Espicially by selecting the weathering condition, it becomes easier to identify defect than with original image. It was confirmed that this trial monitoring system is very useful to identify the defect of exterior wall.

  • Nuclear power plant structures amy be exposed to aggressive environmental effects that may cause their strength and stiffness to decrease over their service lives. Although the physics of these damage mechanisms are reasonably well understood and quantitative evaluation of their effects on time-dependent structural behavior is possible in some instances, such evaluations are generally very difficult and remain novel. The final goal of this study is to develop the reliability analysis of RC containment structures. The cause of the degrading is first clarified and the reliability assessment has been conducted. By introducing stochastic analysis based on random vibration theory, the reliability analysis which can determine the failure probabilities has been established.

  • There are various national standards designed to test the physical properties of waterproofing materials for the respective countries based on each of their environmental parameters, variables and requirements. The problems of these standard systems can be outlined in the following: (1) there are too many test methods and criteria to satisfy in order assess one waterproofing membrane system, and (2) there is currently no known method to compile the separate testing results to provide a comprehensive report on waterproofing system durability. This paper outlines and compares the performance testing results of various types of asphalt waterproofing membrane systems and discusses the potentials of a complex environmental deterioration analysis method.

  • In this study, the ultrasonic pulse velocity of the concrete cooled to room temperature after heating and the concrete during heating were evaluated. Also, the ultrasonic pulse velocity and mechanical properties of concrete were compared. As a result, the ultrasonic pulse velocity decreased when the concrete degraded during heating, and the ultrasonic pulse velocity of the cooled concrete decreased significantly. Which is consistent with the deterioration of mechanical properties of concrete.

  • In the case where the building's rooftop was laid without any foundation, the combined deterioration, such as the repetition of shrinkage and expansion caused by temperature changes, caused further cost generation and damage. To prevent this, the concrete mixing design and construction process shall be established to resist combined deterioration.

  • Recently, Advanced water treatment facilities with Ozone are being introduced owing to domestic water pollution. However, waterproofing/corrosion prevention construction method of concrete structure for existing advanced water treatment makes waterproofing/corrosion prevention materials and concrete deteriorated because of strong oxidation of ozone. it causes increase of maintenance cost and water quality degradation. Therefore, in this study, it will figure out problems of waterproofing/corrosion prevention construction method being applied to through existing studies.

  • This study presents a technique to quantitatively measure the corrosion level of a reinforcing bar using the infrared thermography system. The temperature-distribution of the concrete surface is monitored and the temperature change of the reinforcing bar is analysed in terms of corrosion level and concrete cover depth. The experimental results indicate that temperature increase of the reinforcing bar is significant when the corrosion level is high, which implies that the quantity of heat is strongly dependent on corrosion level. Also, as the concrete cover depth of the specimen and the atmosphere temperature increase, the temperature variation becomes small.

  • In this study, harmonics of 100 kHz ultrasonic pulse transmitted through concrete exposed to high temperature were evaluated. Concrete exposed to high temperatures deteriorates its mechanical properties. In ultrasonic pulse, the fundamental wave was attenuated by the deterioration of the concrete. In addition, it was possible to confirm the occurrence of harmonics. It is thought that the fundamental and harmonics of ultrasonic pulse greatly affected by the internal structure of concrete.

  • Concrete sewage culvert shows degradation with time since it is always exposed to various harmful ions, and deterioration of concrete culvert propagates to structural safety problems. After reclamation, maintenance for concrete sewage culvert is very difficult so that high durable and structural performance are essential for the sewage concrete culvert. Recently polymer concrete has been used to improve mechanical properties and durability performance. In this paper, engineering properties are evaluated for sewage culvert made with polymer concrete, and leakage and adhesive strength between joints are evaluated with small-scale models. The polymer sewage culvert shows high compressive strength over 100MPa with low water permeability and chloride penetration. Furthermore, high resistances to chemical and biological attack are evaluated. Through tests for leakage and adhesive, unification of joints is verified with evaluation of no leakage and high adhesive strength. Precast polymer sewage culvert in this paper can be actively used for severe conditions like sewage lines.

  • Concrete undergoes various deterioration on surface. Impregnant with silicate is usually applied to concrete surface and forms insoluble hydrates, which can provide many engineering advantages. In the work, concrete impregnated with colloidal silicate is used for durability enhancement in surface and self-clearing performance is evaluated with photocatalyst-$TiO_2$ spraying. For the work, various tests are performed both for strength evaluation and durability evaluation such as absorption ratio, drying shrinkage, chloride penetration, sulfate resistance, and freezing/ thawing action. Furthermore, removal and self-clearing performance are evaluated with Acetaldehyde decomposition and Methylene blue decolorization. Through silicate impregnation and photocatalyst spraying, the impregnated concrete can have not only durability enhance but also self-clearing performance.
