  • In this paper the nonlinear analysis that include time-dependent characteristics of materials and geometric nonlinearity of elements for the cable-stayed PSC bridges is presented. Analysis models for finite element method were developed based on the flexibility based fiber beam-column model originally proposed by Spacone et al.(1996). The developed analysis model implemented in general purpose object-oriented finite element analysis program named HFC(Cho 2009). The performance of proposed analysis models is evaluated by comparing with the former results of the design data. The deflection of time dependent analysis is larger than time ignored analysis on construction sequences, and the bridge is destructed at a smaller deflection than the time ignored analysis on failure behavior.

  • The design of anchorage zone in prestressed concrete cable stayed bridges is very important area due to the more accurate analysis is needed to estimate the behavior. In the study, since the cable anchorage zone in the prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge is subject to a large amount of concentrated tendon forces, it shows very complicated stress distributions and causes a serious local cracks. Accordingly, It is necessary to investigate the parameters of affecting the stress distribution, such as the cable inclination, the position of anchor plate, the modeling method and the three dimensional effect. The tensile stress distribution of anchorage zone is compared to the actual design condition by varing the stiffness of spring element in the local modeling and an appropriate position of anchor plate is determined. These results would be elementary data to the stress state of anchorage zone and more efficient design.

  • In this paper, an actual behavior of the pylon of Seohae Grand Bridge which is a cable stayed bridge and has been constructed 4 years ago was analyzed by using data acquisition system. As a result, the pylon of cable stayed bridge behaved normally with respect to the change of temperature. The annual displacement of the top of pylon(PY1) ranged from -71.4mm to +181.7mm in the longitudinal direction of the bridge. In the case of the longitudinal displacement, the displacement of PY1 was bigger than that of PY2 because PY1 is movable and PY2 is fixed in terms of the constraint condition of super structure. For the long term, PY1 will be sloped gently to the direction of Dangjin and PY2 will be also sloped gently to the direction of Pyongtaek by the effect of creep and shrinkage in the case of the longitudinal direction. The result of structural analysis showed good agreement with the result mentioned above.

  • A study for the nonlinear analysis of segmentally erected curved PSC(prestressed concrete) cable-stayed bridge considering the effects due to large deflections is presented. Various case studies regarding the effects of the material nonlinearities and the geometric nonlinearities on the behavior of segmentally erected curved PSC cable-stayed bridge are conducted. The numerical results on the bridge which has relatively low stress profile through the bridge deck section like the example herein show that the geometric nonlinearities has more significant effects on the structural behavior than the material nonlinearities.

  • In this study, the vibration serviceability of pedestrian by travelling vehicles on the cable-stayed bridge with concrete tower was studied. Experiment variables were considered travelling speed of vehicles, pavement state of asphalt on the deck and weight of vehicles, preferentially. Especially, pavement grade states were considered by A and C grades by BMS (Bridge Management System) standard. The incremental ratio extent of vibration acceleration responses, asphalt pavement grade C over A, was construed to 1.23~1.43. Only, these results are valid within extent of the Scaled-Weight 228.0~1161.9 km/h kN. The vibration equations for acceleration responses prediction of bridge deck were proposed into three types, reliability 50%, 90%, 95% respectively. These equations can consider asphalt pavement grade, and the vehicle's weight and travelling velocity, which are the source of vibration, are combined into the term called, 'Scaled Weight'.

  • The bridge across Chambal River consists of two approach bridges and a cable stayed bridge with concrete girder and pylon. And the main bridge has been designed mainly based on AASHTO LRFD. This article covers design specifications from AASHTO LRFD, which are applied to load combinations and structural verification. And it also covers local standards applied in definition of loads such as live load, wind load, temperature, etc. In addition, the difference between applied design specifications and Korean standards is mentioned in this article briefly.

  • Wind tunnel tests and analyses of the response of the concrete pylon for the Seo Han Grand Bridge were conducted using aeroelastic model technique. A 1/250 scale aeroelastic model was used to measure the responses of the pylon at the several critical locations and to find any possible vibrational behavior. In order to confirm the model design and fabrication, natural frequencies and mode shapes measured from the model were compared with those from the calculation. Tests were conducted under the various angles ranging from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$ to find the critical angle of the wind. In order to evaluate the sensitivity of the response to changes in structural damping, a series of tests were conducted with two different values of structural damping such as 0.2% and 1.0% of critical. Additional tests were also conducted considering construction sequence.

  • Ultra High Performance Concrete(UHPC) is a superior structural material with high strength and durability. Construction of light and slim structures is realized to apply this expectable new materials in practice. This research is a part of the project to develop UHPC precast deck system for hybrid cable stayed bridge. The main object of this study is to investigate behavior of the lap-spliced reinforced connection in UHPC. The major parameter considered in experimental plan was lap-spliced length. The 4-points bending test for 12 specimens were conducted to verify the effect of considered parameters. Test results show that the minimum value of lap spliced length of 300mm which specified in current korea high bridge design code was very conservative for UHPC precast deck system.

  • This study has been performed to test the flowability and filling ability of high flowing concrete as well as distribution of aggregate and pore of core specimen, heat of hydration, compressive strength and core strength of concrete. In addition, the resistance to chloride ion penetration and chemical solutionof concrete was tested in order to evaluate the resistance to sea water of concrete and its application of high flowing concrete using blended low heat cement in the field of Seohae Grand Bridge. The properties of high flowing concrete with blended low heat cement were compared with ordinary 25-240-15 concrete using Type V cement. As the results of this study, the flowability and filling ability of high flowing concrete with blended low heat cement is satisfied without vibration. Though the cement content of high flowing concrete with blended low heat cement was 400kg/m$^2$, the rising temperature of it was relatively lower than that of the ordinary 25-240-15 concrete with Type V cement. Also, the compressive of high flowing concrete with blended low heat cement is similar to that of the ordinary 25-240-15 concrete with Type V cement.

  • To predict the time-dependent behavior of concrete structures, the models which describe the time-dependent characteristics of concrete, i.e. creep and shrinkage are required. However, there must be significant differences between the displacements that are obtained using the given creep and shrinkage models and the measured displacements, because of the uncertainties of creep and shrinkage model itself and those of environmental condition. There are some efforts to reduce these error or uncertainties by using the model which are obtained from creep test for the concrete in construction site. Nevertheless, the predicted values from this model may be still different from the actual values due to the same reason. This study aimed to propose a method of estimating the creep coefficient from the measured displacements of concrete structure, where creep model uncertainty factor was considered as an error factor of creep model. Numerical validation for double composite steel box and concrete beam showed desirable feasibility of the presented method. Consideration of the time-dependent characteristics of creep as one of the error factors make it possible to predict long-term behaviors of concrete structures more realistically, especially long-span PSC girder bridges and concrete cable-stayed bridges of which major problem is the geometry control under construction and maintenance.
