In a tension-controlled section, all steel tension reinforcement is assumed to yield at ultimate when using the strength design method to calculate the nominal flexural strength of members with steel reinforcement arranged in multiple layers. Therefore, the tension force is assumed to act at the centroid of the reinforcement with a magnitude equal to the area of tension reinforcement times the yield strength of steel. Because FRP materials have no plastic region, the stress in each reinforcement layer will vary depending on its distance from the neutral axis. Similarly, if different types of FRP bars are used to reinforce the same member, the stress level in each bar type will vary, and the member will show different behavior from our expectation. In this study, six high-strength concrete beam specimens reinforced with conventional steels, CFRP bars, and GFRP bars as flexural reinforcements were constructed and tested. The members reinforced with hybrid reinforcements showed higher stiffness, smaller crack width, and better ductility than the members reinforced with single type of FRP bars.
This paper concentrates on the nonlinear analysis of the reinforced concrete flexural members under cyclic loading. To develop a nonlinear material model, concrete is treated as an orthotropic nonlinear material and steel is modeled as an elasto-plastic material. The models for hysteresis behavior with stiffness degradation in compression and for crack opening and closing in tension are included. The finite element computer program for the nonlinear analysis of RC flexural members under cyclic loading is developed. The accuracy and reliabihty of the numerical procedure IS demonstrated by the FEM analysis and test results of underreinforced concrete beams.
The moment redistribution in continuous reinforced concrete beams is very feasible phenomenon, by which the efficiency and the economy in designing reinforced concrete members can be enhanced. However, to understand the structural behavior by moment redistribution phenomenon, it is desirable to verify its mechanism experimentally considering tension stiffening effect, the relationship of moment redistribution and beam deflection, crack pattern, and effective stiffness. Six reinforced concrete continuous beam specimens were fabricated, and each specimen had a dimension of 250 mm $\times$ 350 mm and 7,000 mm long. The location of de-bonding was taken as the primary test parameter to investigate tension stiffening effect. The moment redistribution ratio of the specimens was different depending on the position of de-bonding, and in particular no moment redistribution was observed when de-bonding exist at both ends, the maximum negative moment region and the maximum positive moment region.
It researched several jointing-methods of frame consisting of a concrete-filled steel tubular column and H-shaped beam. These beam-to-column connections is parameters to following: columns of square shape pipe infilled with or without concrete, joints assembled two types of diaphragm, outside-type and through-type. And it is testing that cyclically lateral loadings used hydraulic ram. In testing. we'll be on purposed to estimate the hysteretic behavior, strength and stiffness, energy absorption capacity, deformation capacity and failure configuration of each specimen. It is concluded that the frame specimens with outside-type are more stable and exhibit more energy absorption capacity compared with the through-type, in column of filled with concrete.
This paper presents an analytical prediction of the fatigue behavior of reinforced concrete bridge piers under earthquake. Material nonlinearity is taken into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. The smeared crack approach is incorporated. In boundary plane at which each member with different thickness is connected, local discontinuous deformation due to the abrupt change in their stiffness can be taken into account by introducing interface element. The effect of number of load reversals with the same displacement amplitude has been also taken into account to model the reinforcing steel. The proposed numerical method for fatigue behavior of reinforced concrete bridge piers under earthquake will be verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.

The purpose of this study is to establish the flexural strengthening method of the concrete members. To accomplish this objective, a total of seven concrete beams were tested. From this study, it is found that the initial flexural stiffness and strength of the beams reinforced with NSM CFRP strips were significantly improved compared to the beam without CFRP strip. Failure of the beam reinforced with NSM strips is initiated by failure of NSM strips, eventually sudden explosive compressive failure in the loaded region. This strengthening method combined with NSM CFRP strips and high performance mortar for concrete cover recovery is evaluated by a good strengthening method for the strength, durability and good appearance of concrete structures.
When the behavior of a prototype concrete structure is studied through small-scale model experiments, it is necessary to reproduce all significant physical characteristics on either an one-to-one basis or a specific similitude relationship. Any distortion of similitude must be understood and its effect must be predictable. This paper focuses on improved physical modeling techniques for small-scale reinforced concrete structures. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of a model concrete mix to accurately model the important properties of full-scale prototype concrete. Four types of model reinforcement with different bond characteristics are also studied by testing twenty simple beams. The information obtained will be of immediate use to engineers contemplating small-scale modeling of reinforced concrete structures.

The CFT structure is applied to newly developed CFTA girder because of improvement of ductility deformation, stiffness and internal force of structure owing to the interaction between steel tube and core concrete. CFTA girder is the structure which can reduce tensile stress due to external loads by using its arch shape and prestress force. This paper proposed constructional stage procedure and represented analytical technique considering constructional stage to investigate the safety against bridge collapse on construction and on operation.
Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) has been developed to overcome the low tensile strengths and brittleness of conventional concrete. Considering that UHPC, owing to its composition and the use of steel fibers, develops a compressive strength of 180 MPa as well as high stiffness, the top flange of the steel girder may be superfluous in the composite beam combining a slab made of UHPC and the steel girder. In such composite beam, the steel girder takes the form of an inverted-T shaped structure without top flange in which the studs needed for the composition of the steel girder with the UHPC slab are disposed in the web of the steel girder. This study investigates experimentally and analytically the flexural behavior of this new type of composite beam to propose details like stud spacing and slab thickness for further design recommendations. To that goal, eight composite beams with varying stud spacing and slab thickness were fabricated and tested. The test results indicated that stud spacing running from 100 mm to 2 to 3 times the slab thickness can be recommended. In view of the relative characteristic slip limit of Eurocode-4, the results showed that the composite beam developed ductile behavior. Moreover, except for the members with thin slab and large stud spacing, most of the specimens exhibited results different to those predicted by AASHTO LRFD and Eurocode-4 because of the high performance developed by UHPC.
