Concrete is cost-benefit and high-durable construction material, however durability problem can be caused due to steel corrosion under chloride attack. Recently deicing salt has been widely spread in snowing season, which accelerates micro-cracks and scaling in surface concrete and the melted deicing salt causes corrosion in embedded steel. The previous governing equation of Fick's 2nd Law cannot evaluate the deteriorated surface concrete so that another technique is needed for the surface effect. This paper presents chloride penetration analysis technique for concrete subjected to deicing salt utilizing multi-layer diffusion model and time-dependent diffusion behavior. For the work, field investigation results of concrete pavement exposed deicing salt for 18 years are adopted. Through reverse analysis, deteriorated depth and increased diffusion coefficient in the depth are evaluated, which shows 12.5~15.0mm of deteriorated depth and increased diffusion coefficient by 2.0 times. The proposed technique can be effectively applied to concrete with two different diffusion coefficients considering enhanced or deteriorated surface conditions.
Cement composites subjected to high-velocity projectile shows local failure and it can be suppressed by improvement of flexural toughness with reinforcement of fiber. Therefore, researches on impact resistance performance of cement composites are in progress and a number of types of fiber reinforcement are being developed. Since bonding properties of fiber with matrix, specific surface area and numbers of fiber are different by fiber reinforcement type, mechanical properties of fiber reinforced cement composites and improvement of impact resistance performance need to be considered. In this study, improvement of flexural toughness and failure reduction effect by impact of high-velocity projectile have been evaluated according to fiber type by mixing steel fiber, polyamide, nylon and polyethylene which are have different shape and mechanical properties. As results, flexural toughness was improved by redistribution of stress and crack prevention with bridge effect of reinforced fibers, and scabbing by high-velocity impact was suppressed. Since it is possible to decrease scabbing limit thickness from impact energy, thickness can be thinner when it is applied to protection. Scabbing of steel fiber reinforced cement composites was occurred and it was observed that desquamation of partial fragment was suppressed by adhesion between fiber and matrix. Scabbing by high-velocity impact of synthetic fiber reinforced cement composites was decreased by microcrack, impact wave neutralization and energy dispersion with a large number of fibers.

Domestic area of most be happened chloride deicer damage. Because daily mean temperature is below 0$^{\circ}C$ from the area of domestic most. Use of deicing chemicals has been and will continue to be a major part of concrete structure in the highway. Chloride-containing chemicals such as calcium chloride or rock salt are main deicers for the road. Extensive use of chloride deicers is, however, not only the source of substantial cost penalties due to their corrosive action and ability to deterioration roadway surface materials but also the source of environmental damages. Concrete with activated carbon and titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been used to reduce the particulate matter (PM) in underground structures (e.g., tunnels) due to the high performance of nitrogen oxides (NOx) abatement. Damage (e.g. crack, spalling, or detachment) can be caused by the environmental and ageing effects on the surface of the particulate matter reduction concrete, installed on the tunnel lining. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the existence of spalling on the concrete surface for maintaining performance of NOx reduction. In this study, a basic research was performed for feasibility of spalling evaluation using electrical resistivity characteristics. Given the test results, the electrical resistivity was decreased as the ratios of activated carbon (0~15%) and TiO2 (0~25%) were increased for specimens. Under a dry condition, electrical resistivity of cement specimens, mixed with activated carbon and TiO2, was decreased up to 2.3 times, compared with the normal cement specimen. In addition, under saturation conditions (degree of saturation: 85~98%), electrical resistivity of cement specimens with activated carbon, was decreased up to 3.5 times, compared with the normal cement specimen. Regardless of the condition (dry or saturated), the difference of electrical resistivity values shows the range of 2.3~2.8 times between the mixing specimen (with activated carbon (15%) and TiO2 (25%)) and the normal cement specimen. This study can help to provide basic knowledge for spalling evaluation using the electrical resistivity on the surface of the particulate matter reduction concrete in tunnels.
Corrosion of rebars can occur if there are cracks, moisture and availability of oxygen or carbonation proceeds, chloride penetrates and diffuses in concrete. Once rebars in concrete corrodes, subsequently accompanied with scaling, spalling in concrete cover. As a result of them, the RC structure is seriously deteriorated. In this study, theoretical review and experiments for cathodic protection(CP) have been performed to control corrosion of rebars in concrete contained chlorides and pre-crack. For CP the impressed current system was applied, the protection effect was investigated when rebars was directly contacted with salt water due to crack and open to much chlorides in concrete. In order to investigate the effect of protection, when CP was energized for 1 year, half-cell potential, potential-decay with current density, corrosion ratio, etc. were measured. With the cathodic protection by impressed current system, the depolarized values of all specimen were met NACE Standard, the effect of 34~84% of the ratio of corrosion area and 84~86% of cross-section reduction were calculated.

To obtain tunnel concrete safety in case of fire, this study analyzed fire proof characteristics by fire proof method change, and the results are as follows. As a fire proof characteristics by RABT temperature heating curve, plain concrete experienced severe spalling by initial extremely high temperature. In view of fire proof method, in the cases of organic fiber mixing method and board method, spalling was prevented, and in the case of spray method, severe spalling of over 100mm depth occurred along with exposure of structural concrete including spray coat by heat stress, etc while metal lath, the stiffener, falls off. As for fire proof characteristics by RWS temperature heating curve, in case of organic fiber inclusion, concrete surface experienced fusion of within 5mm, while in the case of spray method, spray coat was severely spalled to a depth of over 100mm causing structural body concrete to expose its reinforcement, and also in the case of board method, board was fused by high temperature, causing structural body concrete be directly exposed to high temperature, which triggered overall fall-off phenomenon, so in such extraordinary high temperature heating condition, establishment of special fire proof measures is needed.
Purpose: In this study, PCM was used to give thermal performance to concrete and analyze its effect on durability to prevent disasters that may occur in concrete when exposed to hot and cold environments. Method: After preparing concrete specimens containing 10, 30, and 50% of the two types of PCMs compared to the cement volume, the pore volume, freeze melting resistance, and scaling resistance were evaluated. Result: Regardless of the type, when PCM powder was mixed with concrete, the amount of pores decreased, and when 10% and 30% were mixed, the freeze-melting resistance was also improved. It was also confirmed that the higher the mixing amount, the better the scaling resistance. Conclusion: When mixing powdered PCM into concrete, it is believed that durability can be improved to a certain level by the filling effect, and additional various studies should be supported for actual field application.

In this study, projectiles with 2 kinds of nose shape: spherical and flat were impacted into normal concrete and fiber reinforced concrete panels. The fracture depth and form, crater diameter, tensile strain at rear face were evaluated. It was confirmed that smaller projectile nose areas resulted in deeper penetrations associated with concentrated impact forces and small front-face crater diameters in impact test. Conversely, larger projectile nose areas resulted in shallower penetrations and larger front-face fracture diameters. Similar front-face failure and strain distribution relationships based on the projectile nose shape were observed for normal and fiber-reinforced concrete although the rear-face tensile strain and scabbing were significantly reduced by the fiber reinforcement. In addition, a direct relationship was confirmed between the penetration depth based on the projectile nose shape and the tensile strain on the rear face. Thus the impact strain behavior is required to predict the scabbing behavior with penetration depth.

The structure which is located in special surroundings like ocean-environment is physically and chemically eroded by seawater or salt damage, and then concrete-structure becomes deteriorated by iron corrosion and swelling pressure which leads to remarkably decline durability due to cracks and exploitation. As a measure against salt damage, it is actively being examined to use the blended cement that controls salt damage and fix chloride in the process of hydration. In this study, therefore, to examine the property of marine concrete added admixture, marine concrete is manufactured by adding high-strength admixture(omega2000) by 0, 5, 10, and 15% to low heat-blended cement. Then it shows that the compressive strength of manufactured marine cement tends to increase and chloride penetration resistance improves.
