Setting Time and Compressive Strength Gains of Glycocalix Coating Materials with Silica-based Accelerating Agents (실리케이트계 급결제를 혼입한 글라이코 캘릭스 코팅재의 응결시간 및 압축강도 발현 특성)

  • The present study examined the effect of the silica-based accelerating agents on the setting time and compressive strength gain of biomimetic glycocalix coating materials that has been developed for protecting the substrate of concrete exposed to chemical and microbiological attacks. The accelerating agent contents varied from 10mL/L to 40mL/L in the mixtures of glycocalix coating materials determined for shotcrete and lining techniques. Test results showed that the setting time of coating materials containing accelerating agents was affected by the contents of the bacteria carrier. When the accelerating agent content was 40mL/L, the final setting time was 80 minutes for shotcrete mixtures and 318 minutes for lining mixtures. Meanwhile, the compressive strength gain of coating materials with accelerating agents tended to be lower than that of counterpart materials without accelerating agents.

  • Normally coating is used a method for protecting reinforced concrete. For this purpose, organic as well as inorganic coatings are used. The advantages of inorganic coatings are lower absorption of UV, non-burning etc. On the other hand, organic coatings have the advantage of low permeability of $CO_2$, $SO_2$ and water. Organic coatings provide better protection for reinforced concrete. However, in organic coatings such as epoxy, urethane and acryl, long-term adhesive strength is reduced and the formed membrane of those is blistered by various causes. Also when organic coatings are applied to the wet surface of concrete, they have a problem with adhesion. So, we developed coating material, WGS-Eco which was hybridized with polymer and cement based material to protect concrete structures and solve problems of organic coatings. This study was conducted an comparative evaluation on physical and durable performance of developed coating material and previously used coating materials. As a result, the performance of developed coating material was not inferior to organic coating materials. So, the developed coating material was considered as a suitable coating material which had advantages of inorganic and organic coatings for protecting concrete.

Formulation and Application of UV-Cured Anti-cigar burning Coating Compounds for PVC Tile (PVC 바닥상재용 광경화형 내열 코팅액의 제조 및 응용에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는 건축용 바닥재로 널리 이용되는 PVC 상재의 표면을 열에 의한 손상으로부터 보호하기 위하여 기존에 사용하는 광경화형 우레탄-아크릴 수지에 내열성(anti-cigar burning)을 향상시킨 광경화형 수성도료 개발에 관한 것이다. PVC 바닥상재용으로 사용되는 내열기능성이 없는 우레탄-아크릴 수지에 인계화합물을 주원료로 합성한 내열재, 구아니딘을 주원료로 합성한 내열재, 일시적 방염제로 사용되는 제 2인산암모늄을 수지의 양 대비 함량(wt%)을 10, 20, 30%로 변화하여 첨가한 후 배합하여 수지의 내열성을 향상시킨 코팅액을 제조하였다. 제조한 코팅액은 코팅층의 두께조절이 가능한 Bar-coating을 사용하여 PVC 바닥상재에 코팅한 후, 내열성, 부착력, 내화학성, 코팅두께 등의 코팅층 표면물성을 평가하였다. 연구결과, 수지에 인계화합물을 주원료로 합성한 내열재 30%를 혼합하여 제조한 코팅액을 Bar-coater No.12로 코팅한 코팅표면이 열에 의한 손상이 가장 적고, 부착력 100%, 내화학성 양호로 가장 좋은 물성을 보였다. 전반적으로 내열재 함량이 높고 코팅 두께가 두꺼울수록 내열성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

Syntheses of Novel Sol-Gel Precursor Containing Anti-corrosive Functional Group and Their Uses in Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Coatings (내부식성이 우수한 졸-젤 전구체의 합성 및 이를 함유하는 유무기 하이브리드 코팅재)

  • New sol-gel precursors having the ability to protect iron against corrosion were synthesized and used to prepare organic-inorganic hybrid coatings based on epoxy. Bisphenol A epoxy was modified with 3-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane to improve the compatibility, and water and HCl were used as catalysts for sol-gel process. Various coating formulations were prepared depending on the type of sol-gel precursors and the amount of each ingredient, and cast on iron substrates by dip-coating and thermally cured. Corrosion protection properties of coated iron were studied by a salt spray test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy under 0.1 M NaCl electrolyte. Hybrid coatings containing anticorrosive functional group exhibited excellent corrosion protection on iron, compared to that of typical hybrid coatings. From electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, the hybrid coatings containing anticorrosive functional group could maintaine the initial impedance after 500 h, while the impedance of hybrid coatings without them started to decrease after 24 h.

Analysis of Acoustic Target Strength for the Submarine with Alberich Anechoic Coating Effects (알베리히 무반향 코팅재 효과를 고려한 잠수함의 음향 표적강도 해석)

  • Acoustic target strength (TS) is one of the most considerable design elements for survival capacities of the submarine. It needs to reduce acoustic TS that submarines are getting larger and larger, Alberich anechoic coatings are widely used as the representative method. In this paper, the finite element method (FEM) is used to analyze the reflection and transmission coefficients of Alberich anechoic coatings, which have periodic unit cells. The FEM results are compared with experimental results in the literature. Moreover, acoustic TS for the submarine is analyzed by using that result. Finally, it is shown that acoustic TS (Case 1: 10dB, Case 2: 6dB) are reduced due to the use of Alberich anechoic coatings.

Synthesis of Water Soluble Anti-Static Composition and It’s Application for PVC Floor (수용성 대전방지제의 합성 및 이를 이용한 PVC 바닥재 코팅)

  • 본 연구에서는 무용제 타입의 알킬(alkyl)기를 가진 친수성 4차 암모늄염인 대전방지제(Ultramer 5530)를 합성, 유/무광 수용성 수지와 배합하여 PVC 바닥재에 열경화 코팅을 행하였다. 대전방지 코팅액은 Ultramer 5530을 광택조절이 가능한 유/무광 수용성 수지에 무게 기준으로 5-20 wt%(이하 ‘part’로 표기)범위로 첨가, 배합하여 제조하였다. 대전방지 코팅 처리전 PVC 바닥재의 표면저항은 10/sup 12/Ω이었으나 코팅 후 표면저항은 유광 수지의 경우 최대 10/sup 8/Ω, 무광 수지의 경우 최대 10/sup 6/Ω까지 감소하였다. 유/무광 수지 모두 경화조건에 관계없이 일반적으로 Ultramer 5530의 첨가량이 증가할수록 코팅된 PVC 바닥재의 표면저항은 현저히 감소하였다. 경화온도 l00℃에서 1분간 경화한 콜이도막은 Ultramer 5530의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 전기저항이 현저하게 감소하였으나 경도 및 부착률 등의 코팅도막 물성이 현저히 저하됨을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 물성 저하는 경화온도를 80℃로 낮추고 경화시간을 20분으로 늘리면 해결할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과, PVC 바닥재의 표면에 형성된 코팅도막의 물성은 Ultramer 5530의 첨가량을 8 part로 하고 120℃에서 1분간 열경화를 시켰을 때 가장 좋았다.

Visualization of Self-Healing Function of Protective Coating for Concrete (콘크리트 보호코팅재의 자기치유 기능의 시각화)

  • Microcapsules were prepared by using a mixture of linseed oil and a small amount of fluorescent fluid as a core material. Self-healing protective coatings were prepared by applying coating formulations containing varying amounts of microcapsules on mortar surface. After scratch or crack was generated in the coating, when the damaged region was exposed to ultraviolet light (${\lambda}=365nm$), it was observed that fluorescence emission area increased with increasing microcapsule loading. In the cases of the self-healing coatings having 20wt% or more microcapsule loading, the damaged region was almost filled with the healing agent. In water sorptivity test, the self-healing coating having 20wt% or more microcapsule loading showed a healing efficiency of about 85%. The fluorescence emission from the damaged region was easily observed at a distance of 3 m. The self-healing protective coating is expected to be useful to confirm its self-healing function with the eye.

Characterizations on the Thermal Insulation of SiC Coated Carbon-Carbon Composites (탄화규소로 코팅된 탄소-탄소 복합재료의 단열 특성)

  • This study investigates the characterization on the thermal insulation properties of silicon carbide coating on the Cf-C composites. The silicon carbide coatings by chemical vapor deposition on the C/C composites are prepared to evaluate thermal resistance. Firstly, we perform the basic insulation test by thermal shock at 1350℃ in air on the C/C composite and SiC-coated C/C composite. We also performed the burner tests on the surface of the composites at high temperatures such as 1700 and 2000℃, and the weight change after burner tests are measured. The damages on the surface of C/C composite and SiC-coated composite are observed. As a result, the SiC coating is beneficial to protect the C/C composite from high temperature even though damages such as defoliation, crack and voids are observed during burner test at 2000℃.

  • This study is on development of UV-cured water soluble coating composition which have more improved anti-cigar burning to prevent a surface of PVC tile from damage of heat. To make an anti-cigar burning coating solution, thermostable agent that synthesize main materials phosphorus compound, guanidine and ammonium phosphate dibasic used temporary flame retardants, changing their contents from 10 to 30wt% against quantities of resin and compounded. After coating PVC tiles using bar-coating method that can adjust a thickness, we estimated surface properties of coated layer such as anti-cigar burning, adhesive power, chemical resistance, thickness of coating, and so on. Results showed that a coating composition added 30 wt% of phosphorus compound and coated with No.12 bar-coater had the best optimized surface property in anti-cigar burning effect, adhesive power and chemical resistance. Also, we could find anti-cigar burning effect was improved as thermostable agents content and coating thickness increased.

Reliability improvement of LED's red phosphor by coating (코팅에 의한 LED 적생 형광체의 신뢰성 개선)

  • 본 연구에서는 실리케이트 적색 형광체의 신뢰성을 향상시키기 위하여 $SiO_2$ 박막을 졸-겔(sol-gel) 방법으로 코팅하였으며, 봉지재의 종류에 따른 코팅된 형광체의 신뢰성 변화를 조사하였다. 졸-겔 코팅 후 형광체 표면을 관찰한 결과 졸-겔 코팅이 잘 이루어 졌음을 알 수 있었으며, 4회 코팅 후 박막의 두께는 약 150nm였다. 코팅하지 않은 형광체의 경우 봉지재에 따른 차이는 있었지만 500시간 경과 후 효율 감소율은 30% 이상이었으며 코팅 한 형광체의 경우는 에폭시, JCR6175가 10${\sim}$25%, EG6301은 10% 이내의 효율 감소율을 보였다. 한편 색좌표 경우 에폭시 봉지재가 약 0.02의 변화를 EG6301 봉지재의 경우 0.01 이내의 변화를 보였다.
