[ $9\%$ ] nickel steel LNG storage tank have double containments that can store cryogenic LNG independently. Inner tank material is used as $9\%$ nickel steel and outer tank is constructed by concrete. Comer protection which is installed on inner surface of concrete corner is consist of $9\%$ nickel steel liner and form glass insulator that make reduce tension at corner when LNG is leaked from inner tank. It is very difficult to design corner protection because expansion and contraction of liner make stress state complex. Corner protections of operating tank in KOGAS are designed by Japanese engineering company such as TKK, KHI and England company of WHESSOE. This paper is mainly focused on the integrity comparison of them according to requirements of Appendix 4 in ASME Section VIII Div. 2 by using FEM.

In recent years, the use of text inserted into TV contents has grown to provide viewers with better visual understanding. In this paper, video text is defined as superimposed text region located of the bottom of video. Video text extraction is the first step for video information retrieval and video indexing. Most of video text detection and extraction methods in the previous work are based on text color, contrast between text and background, edge, character filter, and so on. However, the video text extraction has big problems due to low resolution of video and complex background. To solve these problems, we propose a method to extract text from videos using the Harris corner detector. The proposed algorithm consists of four steps: corer map generation using the Harris corner detector, extraction of text candidates considering density of comers, text region determination using labeling, and post-processing. The proposed algorithm is language independent and can be applied to texts with various colors. Text region update between frames is also exploited to reduce the processing time. Experiments are performed on diverse videos to confirm the efficiency of the proposed method.

As aerospace industry has been activated recently, it is required to commercialize composite analysis software. Until now, commercial software has been mainly used for analyzing composites, but it has been difficult to use due to high price and limited functions. In order to solve this problem, automatic analysis software for both in-plane and corner radius strength, which are all made on-line and generalized, has recently been developed. However, these have the disadvantage that they can not be analyzed simultaneously with multiple failure criteria. In this paper, we propose a method to greatly improve the processing speed while simultaneously handling the analysis of multiple failure criteria using a parallel processing platform that only works with a GPU equipped with a CUDA core. We have obtained satisfactory results when the analysis speed is experimented on the vast structure data.

Many longitudinally arranged pipes in ships are subject to considerable displacement loads caused by the hull girder bending of ships and/or thermal loads in some special pipes through which fluids with highly abnormal temperatures are conveyed. As these loads may cause failure in the pipes or their supporting structures, loops have been widely adopted as a measure to prevent such failure, with the idea that they can lower the stress level in a pipe by absorbing some portion of these loads. But since such loops have some negative effects, such as causing extra manufacturing cost and occupying extra space, the number and dimensions of the loops need to be minimized. This research developed design formulas for pipe loops, modeling them as a spring element, for which the axial stiffness is calculated based on the beam theory, incorporating the effects of the curvature of loop corners and the flexibility of the straight portion of the pipe. The accuracy of the proposed design formulas was verified by comparing two results respectively obtained by the proposed formulas and MSC/NASTRAN. The paper ends with a sample application of the proposed formulas showing their efficiency.

Heat pumps have received a fair amount of attention all over the world for their high efficiency and low environmental impact. Employing heat pumps for residential heating and cooling produces only about 2038 kg-$CO_2$/year, an amount which is less than half that of conventional boiler systems. However, the use of single-stage heat pumps becomes uneconomical when they are operated at very low evaporating temperature or high condensing temperature. Two-stage heat pumps systems can be used successfully for low or high temperature applications. In this paper, the experimental study on the performance of two-stage heat pump with an economizer was executed in heating mode. When the secondary fluid inlet temperature to the indoor heat exchanger increased, the COP enhancement rate of two-stage heat pump with an economizer was increased. For all outdoor inlet temperature conditions, the performance of the heat pump with an economizer was higher than it without an economizer.

The objective of this paper is to calculate the fatigue strength for upper deck hatch corner insert plate of large container carriers without wave load analysis and global finite element analysis at the initial design stage. Wave load analysis and global F.E. analysis for three container carriers have been performed by GL(Germanischer Lloyd) procedure to propose the equation for hatch corner stress range which is the important factor in fatigue strength calculation. Considering the restraining effect of bulkhead, three types of equation, that is, single tight bulkhead, double tight bulkhead and support bulkhead have been proposed. Using the proposed equations, a simplified fatigue analysis based on GL rules has been performed for two container carriers of which fatigue strength analysis was carried out by GL. From the comparison between fatigue strength result of using the proposed equations and that of GL, it has been found that proposed stress range equations are useful for scantling of upper deck hatch corner insert plates for over 8,000 TEU class container carriers.
