  • 요약 본 논문은 텔레비전 프로그램에서 방송되고 있는 데이트 쇼 프로그램을 기호학적으로 분석하고, 다양한 사회문화적 현상이 담고 있는 특성을 살펴보는데 목적을 갖고 있다. 본 연구의 분석대상이 데이트 쇼 프로그램은 케이블 채널 TVn의 "러브 스위치의 텍스트 분석"을 통해서 젠더의 구분에 따른 특정한 사고방식과 행위방식에서 드러나고 있는 남녀의 구조적 특성을 살펴보고, 텔레비전 문화가 어떻게 우리의 의식세계를 지배하고 발전되고 있는지를 고찰하고자 한다.

  • 방송의 디지털화가 실현되면서 다가오는 21세기는 새로운 방송문화의 창조가 기대된다. 디지털방송은 인프라스트럭처에서 서비스에 이르는 미디어의 변혁이며, 세계적인 규모로서 특히 지역의 구석구석까지 풍요로운 사회생활을 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 이를 보급하기 위해서는 각국의 시책, 인프라의 정비, 기술규격의 표준화, 값싼 고기능 정보단말, 매력적인 서비스를 동시에 병행하여 유저에게 받아들여질 수 있는 프로세스를 창출하는 것이 필요하다. 디지털방송의 전개는 영상$\cdot$음성부호화 기술의 규격표준화를 계기로 위성$\cdot$지상파$\cdot$케이블의 각 전송매체에서 시작하여 현장감이 넘치는 고품질 텔레비전, 다채널, 멀티미디어정보서비스의 실현을 위해 일본$\cdot$미국$\cdot$유럽 각국에서 동시에 활발하게 추진중에 있다. 이와같은 디지털방송서비스를 실현하는데는 오디오 비쥬얼기술과 통신 및 컴퓨터를 융합한 고도의 기술개발이 필요하다. 미쓰비시전기(이하''동사''라 한다)는 새로운 시대를 열기 위하여 방송국시스템, 집배신네트워크, 가정용수신기, 디지털텔레비전용 CODEC, 기간 LSI 등의 개발에 적극적으로 대처하고 있다.

  • The purpose of this paper is a semiotic analysis of a dating show on television program, and the attribute contains a variety of social and cultural phenomenons. Analyzed in this study shows relates with TVn's "Love Switch" from cable channel of the text through the classification of gender and thinking of behavior revealed by the structural characteristics of the men and women's appearances. And, how the television culture We rule the world and develop a sense of whether they are examined.

A Study on the Uses and Gratifications on the U.S. TV Dramas: Focusing on Comparison to the Korean Counterparts (대학생들의 미국 텔레비전 드라마에 대한 시청동기 및 만족도 연구: 한국 텔레비전 드라마와의 비교를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the uses and gratifications of the U. S. TV dramas favored by the Korean college students. The uses and gratifications of the U. S. TV dramas are also compared with the Korean TV dramas. In addition, this study analyzes how the motives and satisfactions of students on the U. S. dramas influence on watching patterns of the Korean TV dramas. The results of the factor analysis show that student's motives on watching the U. S. TV dramas are composed of four factors, such as 'Entertainment/Relaxation', 'Getting Information', 'Environment/Companionship', and 'Sexual curiosity'. In contrast, the motives of watching Korean TV dramas are composed of six factors, which are added 'Korean Drama Characteristics' and 'Habitual Time-Spending' to four factors of the U. S. dramas. After dividing the student groups with the heavy and the light watchers, this research shows that three out of five for the U. S. dramas are significantly different, whereas two out of six factors for the Korean counterparts. Finally, the uses and gratifications of the U. S. dramas favored by the Korean college students influence little on the watching patterns of the Korean TV dramas.

  • 오늘날 컴퓨터 통신에 의한 인터넷의 보급은 우리의 생활 전반에 걸쳐 과거에 불가능하였던 많은 일들이 실생활에서 일어나게 하였다. 이를테면 회사에 출근하지 않고도 가정에서 각종 업무를 처리할 수 있는 재택근무, 도서관에 가지 않고도 전자도서관에서 필요한 자료를 얻을 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 공연 티켓도 가정에서 컴퓨터를 통해서 예매할 수 있고, 물건을 사기 위해서 직접 상점에 가지 않고도 가정과 일터에서 케이블 텔레비전(CATV)을 통한 홈쇼핑1)이나 컴퓨터 통신을 이용한 인터넷 쇼핑이 가능해졌다. 이와 같은 현상은 정보통신기술의 발달로 가능하게 된 것이다.   • Recently n Korea, the House of Commons and terrestrial broadcasting facilities integrated with FM radio and the satellite compulsory was amended to transfer MATV(Master Antenna Television) adjusted by SMATV(Satellite Master Antenna Television). While the SMATV was accepted by default in most other countries, our county did not accept it as the default for broadcast. Because domestic cable and satellite television service providers are conflicts with their interest. bAs a result, the hybrid amplifier for SMATV technology development and volume production for the state is insufficient. Therefore, terrestrial television broadcast bands (54 ~ 806Mhz) and FM radio broadcast band (88 ~ 108Mhz) band satellite with (950 ~ 2150Mhz) to amplify the development of a broadband amplifier with subsequent resolution of problems is also presented in this study.

Transition Process of Television Drama's Image Production Techniques - Mainly on MBC Dramas - (TV 드라마의 시대별 영상제작기법 변천과정 - MBC 홈드라마를 중심으로 -)

  • With the question, "What would be the difference between TV drama image production techniques under the changing circumstances of domestic broadcasting faced with multi-media, multi-channel age after 1980' s press unification and establishment of two times commercial TV stations?" This study analysed image production techniques of three periods of TV drama development, 'TV drama maturity period(1981-1990)', 'TV drama transition period(1991-2000)', 'TV drama take-off period(2001-)'. For the image analysis within the genre of home drama, 3 dramas for each period were selected and analysed cameraworks, shot size, shot duration with the broadcasting station's DVD, homepage and manuscript. The result of this analysis revealed that the change of shot size was slight but the change of cameraworks was great, the usage of zoom and tilt diminished but the usage of dolly and track increased. and the average shot duration drastically diminished during the take-off period. These results show us that broadcasting production equipments developed during the periods, and broadcasting stations poured all-out efforts for the higher viewing rates and international competitiveness.

A study of next generation OpenCable systems for Ultra-High Definition television broadcasting (초 고화질 텔레비전 방송을 위한 차세대 오픈 케이블 방식에 대한 연구)

  • This paper examines the potential of Ultra-High Definition TV (UD-TV) broadcasting transmission systems beyond HD-TV over cable channel. Firstly, we analyze the trend of TOV(Threshold of Visibility) by extending the OpenCable (J.83 Annex B) system 256QAM which is the standard of Korean and American cable television transmission to 1024QAM, and realize that the OpenCable 1024QAM has nearly 30% higher data rate than 256QAM at the expense of impractically higher TOV (Threshold of Visibility). To achieve practical TOV, we control code rates of inner convolutional coder and replace turbo coder in forward error correction (FEC) part, thereby analyzing the best performance of the OpenCable systems having conventional FEC. In that result, it is necessary to modify conventional FEC of the OpenCable system to achieve under 31.5dB TOV. Moreover we study the potential of UD-TV transmission via two or more TV channels, so called channel bonding, through the Shannon capacity in 6MHz channel and the relationship with next generation A/V codec technologies.

A Study on the High Quality 360 VR Tiled Video Edge Streaming (방송 케이블 망 기반 고품질 360 VR 분할 영상 엣지 스트리밍에 관한 연구)

  • 360 Virtual Reality(VR) service is getting attention in the domestic streaming market as 5G era is upcoming. However, existing IPTV-based 360 VR video services use upto 4K 360 VR video which is not enough to satisfy customers. It is generally required that over 8K resolution is necessary to meet users' satisfaction level. The bit rate of 8K resolution video exceeds the bandwidth of single QAM channel(38.817mbps), which means that it is impossible to provide 8K resolution video via the IPTV broadcast network environment. Therefore, we suggest and implement the edge streaming system for low-latency streaming to the display devices in the local network. We conducted experiments and confirmed that 360 VR streaming with a viewport switching delay less than 500ms can be achieved while using less than 100mbps of the network bandwidth.

  • This paper intends to examine the recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Walt Disney Co. in terms of how information communication technology, especially the internet, has been reshaping the media industry. In particular, it looks at the deal as Disney's attempt to adapt to the rapidly shifting media environment and strike back at the challenges from online streaming services. After looking at the overview of the deal and some of the major changes and challenges the rise of streaming services has brought to film and media landscape, the paper looks at Disney responded to them by launching its own streaming services and how its acquisition of Fox assets factors in this. It also examines the implications of Disney's move as well as the opportunity and challenges it faces.
